We all know photographers whose portfolio are well lit beautiful glory shoots, you don't want to be those photographers, you want to take interesting photos, and to take interesting photos you have to be interested in what you are photographing ... This is exactly what I say to my students
There's no better way to express myself than taking a blurry photo of a random woman crossing the street, then turning it into black and white. Thanks Leica Society!
lmaoo
Okay, the wiggle finger thing actually works! I'm mad I never thought of that myself as many times as I've inadvertently covered the rangefinder window. LOL
Glad you found that tip helpful!
Great tips, I guess... I stopped watching on 0:26
hahahahahahahha
Mee tooo
Excellent video and stills. Shooting Leica since 1960 and never heard of the wiggle-finger focusing technique 🙄
Why was I not told?!
Glad you liked the video, Jon! That's one reason why we have this series and great guests like Egor, to help uncover more techniques and insights! Are there any other topics you'd like to see from the Leica Society?
Same here, 1968 on. How come I never thought of that? It is so simple, effective and brilliant! Agree about the video and stills.
I must try this.... owned a Leica for 1 week exactly. The manual is in German (no surprises there) but I'm pretty sure this wonderful tip wasn't in there. Thanks for sharing.... looking forward to many years shooting with this camera.
I'm enjoying the irony of dozens of people in a Leica bubble complaining of pretentiousness.
I'm also enjoying stumbing across Egor's blog recently, he's 10x the writer and photog than many who would lay claim to such titles.
Technical not needed? Then why are you using a Leica and not a kodak point and shoot?
You have to have a technical understanding of photography in order to take a well exposed or purposely badly exposed image. Once you have the technical ability to operate your camera properly, it becomes intuitive and that's when your best expression can flourish.
Convincing the morons of this is rather like explaining to someone ignorant of art, why it was ok for Van Gogh to 'paint outside the lines.' Sadly, only about 1% photographers know anything about art. For the vast majority, It is more like a clinical, technical discipline.
Wiggle finger jitter! Love it! And good tip with the bathrooms :-)
Number 4 is like a tick to my mind, wonderful, thank you
Tip #2: absolutely, positively true.
Great to hear you found these tips useful. Thanks for commenting.
you really put a big smile on my face! Thanx!
Hi Axel, that's wonderful to hear and you're most welcome!
Thanks you for tip number 5 love it and will practice to get my focus accurate.
You're welcome. We're happy you found these tips useful. After you practice, let us know how it goes!
Tip number 4 may be very, very helpful. Thank you very much.
RS. Canada
Tip #1 was the best tip here.
I quite like tip 2. Ooops, excuse me, must rush.
Egor is brilliant even as a speaker.
We couldn't agree more!
Glad I'm Stayed till the end 😊
Tip 5 sounds awesome. Can't wait to try "wiggle finger focus!" Thanks for another great video
You're welcome. Glad you're enjoying them. Let us know how the "wiggle finger focus" goes!
@@LeicaSociety Just so you know, my girlfriend loves this technique. What a tip!
Why does everything Leica scream pretentiousness?
Great tips especially the "wiggle finger" technique. Thanks for your time.
Glad you enjoyed!
Thank you Sir! Im shooting an old S nikon these days. I will try your suggestion to see if it works. 😅
Tip 5 is great.
Hilarious Greg - with some interesting and true observations bundled in. Thanks enjoyed your perspective. Andy
Hi Andy, we're happy to hear you enjoyed the video.
This is one of the most helpful, beautiful and and don't know what else, video I have seen. It has soul. It describes the essence of the art. Thank you so much for the video! I see tha you use a film camera. I used to have Minoltas and a Nikon FE (which is still have since 1978!)
why did you take a picture of that , because nobody else did. I like that a lot
great tip about looking cool on streets cheers
The wiggle finger! Brilliant technique! Thank you!
Glad you like the tip from Egor! Thanks for watching a video in our How To series!
Great video, the "wiggle finger" tip is priceless. I'm new to rangefinder photography and Leica so I'm trying to absorb all the information I can while shooting as much as possible with an M6.

Ok cool admit it - i watched till the end, u got me I interested with your “no tips videos” ! Anyhow, great video, great philosophy and very interesting points of view. I own a Fuji X100F, soon going into my first Leica M9 (which I used in the past and love) and I’ll try to wiggle! Cheers
Le us know how the 'wiggle' goes. Thanks for watching!
Ok I tried it with my M8 and M240 and it works pretty nicely! ;) thanks for the tip!
You're welcome and that's awesome to hear.
Thank you Leica society 🙏🙏
yeah
Your first tip is condescending.
Addictive to 🔴Leica gear, does hat count as a different hobby than photography? 🤔
We'll let you be the judge of that ;)
This is great. Egor is one of the few Leica photogs who actually has good advice and is a real shooter!

He talks so clearly even when his tongue is in his cheek
He's good at that!
Excellent .... I think but I missed it because I switched off!
Best set of tips I've seen so far !
Glad you enjoyed them!
Absolutely awesome video with lots of honesty
I looked up "condescending jerk" in the dictionary and there was this guys photo ( out of focus and underexposed of course )
Yes to self expression .. I watch doc. About other people and learn so much ..the tip stuff is ok
This guy need to have a conversation with Gary Gough about photography because he clearly needs help??
I love this. Thanks for sharing!
You're welcome. We're happy that you found it helpful and thanks for reaching out!
First tip ... Save a pile of cash ! Don't fall into the red dot cult..😜😜😜
I just bought a pack of red stickers. Now all my cameras are Leicas.
0:54 Done!
With photography?
Hahaha I love this guy!!!!
Hahaha.....love it!
jesus, I am baffled with the #2 tip... It is so ridiculous, that I am really genuinely willing to believe it is actually true hahahahaha
It takes somebody really intelligent to make that statement with a straight face
Thanks for watching! Egor is brilliant! When you're shooting all day, it is important to know where they are! lol :)
It is true. Very true. Just last week happened to me - when I realized in the evening how many good shots in a great location I had missed as I was searching for a restroom. Brilliant tip.
Egor ! top stuff !
Hey Egor I did turn off at one minute ! However was typically so full of Egor humor I watched the whole thing twice, or more ... Hope you got some free stuff from Leica !
That was really enjoyable! Thanks!!
You're welcome!
"So-Called"... that wasn't pretentious or combative at all...
how do you get the black and white effect thank you and thanks for all the good that you do
Hi Kirk:
Thanks for the question. My B&W “effects” are often achieved the old-fashioned way - by shooting in B&W. I still shoot a healthy amount of film - all B&W (usually Tri-X), and all developed at home (usually Rodinal). For the past several years, a Leica Monochrome has been my main digital camera so, once again, no “effect.” Of course I sometimes shoot with digital color cameras, but I never actually *SEE* those images in color. Instead, I use my own little custom Lightroom import scripts to immediately convert every imported image to B&W before it’s displayed in my LR catalog. That B&W conversion is fairly generic - when I get a new color camera, I’ll spend a few minutes creating a custom B&W conversion for it that will make its color rendering approximate the tonality of Tri-X, then I build that conversion into the import script. I know this probably sounds like a curious affectation, but I long ago decided that I was a B&W photographer. Period. So for me, B&W isn’t an “effect” at all - it’s the only way I ever get to see my photos.
I still don't understand the concept of the soul selfie
Just love this video!! :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
The Carlsberg of "Tips" videos.
Soul selfie...give me a break
Enjoy your phone pictures.
Love it 👍👍👍
How condescending can you get?
Great video!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Well, that was 6 minutes of my life I'll never get back. (As you can tell, I didn't watch the rest.)
Enjoy your phone pictures.
0:17 Ok....bu bye......
Interesting, unusual tips. I usually don't like photos which cause me to ask "WHY did he take that?!" I find myself asking that question about photos in LFI a lot.
We're big fans of Egor and his unique perspective!
And thanks for watching multiple videos too - be sure to subscribe so you don't miss upcoming ones too!
I have a subscription to LFI (Leica Fotografie International), and I've seen SOME photographs in LFI that, seriously, I'd be ashamed to hang in the shed with my lawnmower.
I agree, it is even true for the older issues from the 50’s and 60’s. But then there are also pictures that are outstanding, even many decades later.
Wow Eegore.
Thanks Greg, best tips everrrr..
Leica to look cool, Fuji to save mucho money and better focus
Damn this is the 2nd time I've watched the first 24 seconds of this video
Lol - yes, go shoot! Shoot, shoot, shoot! The whole video is worth a watch too ;) -Helen
Good stuff :)
This guy is like Connor Roy.
got a tendinitis from jittering....😂
This guy is hilarious
Improve your photography by paying attention to where the public washrooms are...Hahahahah No really, that's why I go before I go.
👏👏👏👏👏
“So-called” and “street photography” is correct. 0:50. I’m following the advice. Closing this video. Bye!
Dude needs to get over himself. He thinks he’s funny, just comes across as cynical snob. Seems typical.
I should have the video off when he said.
Learn as much of the technical process of photography as you can, watch as many videos as you would like, ignore the pretentious man in this video.
Funny tips
egor does have his own way of conveying his message :) Thanks for reaching out.
"so-called" ... heh
egor does have his own sense of humor! Thanks for commenting.
Thank you for your video. But I believe that calling this tips for "so-called" street photograper, is demeaning and implies minimizing photographers of this gender.
Its was not seriously ment. Being a so-called street photographer with other interests as well, I do understand his point. Street photographers are on the street and not watching tips on street photography. Like he mentioned in the video. Do not take yourself to serious, even if you own a Leica or two.
Why "so called"? This sounds diminishing for street photographers.
and just because it's a Leica doesn't mean shit ...
condescending af
so called? Seems demeaning. Like, they think they are but I know better. Not a very good title.
Utter bollocks
…neither peppered nor salted… just kind of tasteless…!
His photographs are meh 😒
Is this supposed to be a comedy channel because what I heard was a joke.
He is trolling us now
Not even worthy of a comment..so I'm going to say
what a ridiculous video
Pretty annoying...
what a waste of time.
pretentiousness AND ostentatiousness - give me a break ...
:o/
