For example Paul Wesley is Pole, both of his parents are from Poland and he said that he's spent a lot of his childhood in Poland but still can't speak polish very well. Of course he understands a lot, I would even say almost everything from what I've heard, but he struggles to speak himself and his pronunciation is off even when it comes to simple sentences. So welp. That's not what the fluency is and he should be able to speak polish perfectly, looking at your comment. So let's appreciate Nina's bulgarian and don't downgrade her skills because it really IS impressive.

As a russian linguist I wanna say,that Nina has quite english pronunciation for some slavonic sounds. Slavonic languages are different (some less,some more),however the native speakers can distinguish and understand each other partially,because of common langage roots and similar phonetics systems.It's just a note. I'm so proud,how Nina loves her roots and shows them,spreading Bulgarian culture that way💓💓💓💓 she's amazing🔥🔥🔥🔥

Nina Dobrev is one of the reasons why I got interested in learning Bulgarian. As well as the language just being so beautiful, but because I have the attention span of a pea it is really hard for me to just sit down and learn the language. I can say though that I know how to sing/speak Arabian Nights in Bulgarian. So if I ever become famous like Nina here and I am asked by a tv host to speak a foreign language, I can just whip out Arabian Nights and all of the Bulgarians can have a nice laugh while I make a complete fool out of the host.
I'm Slovenian and I did understand some of the words, like 20% of what she was saying, but not enough for my liking :) Love Nina!
