Attracting TECH Companies to Our City in Cities Skylines | Crater Lake 27

- Hello and welcome to Crater Lake Episode: 27. This is a Cities: Skylines Gameplay series where I am using inspiration from around the United States to help shape design choices and road layouts. Not all of it is inspired, but I try to bring neat and fun ideas that I have stumbled across and incorporate them somehow into the city. In this episode, we jump into a whole new area designed around attracting tech companies to our city. Large investors have stepped in with a lot of money to help fund a new district on the outskirts of Crater Lake. We begin by designing a road layout and placing an It district. We then build school areas and service areas to support the new communities. And then, we finish off by designing a unique square that will house our sunken metro plaza. This is only the beginning, but it is a good one.

I was gonna comment to make the "roller coaster" metro track as a bridge, few minutes later voilà!
Hahaha I just didn't feel right leaving it like that 🤣 we don't have a theme park though so it could have been good in some respects.

1- park at confluence of rivers - Bletchley Park
2- roundabout -token ring
3- Have a P and an N street that meat at the PN junction
4-Feistel zone ( important in block ciphers )
5- Banach-Tarski place you can make more of them out of whats in only one
6-Friedman ave after the Friedman test
7-wozniak drive
8 -galina after mineral that exhibits a natural diode effect and also an ore of lead used to make solder
9- Relativity Train station
10- also a Xerox park
11-Shortest Path Bridg
12-store and forward post office
13- quantum tunnel

@@CityZilla having a PN junction would just be cool and a token ring you could actually travel on ( its a geeky thing but hay )

Suggestion:
I think you should add one (or a few) skyscrape landmarks. And maybe a Tv-tower would fit in good in the IT-area. For inspiration you could take a look at Tokyo tower!
And if that was my city I would have added an Ikea close to the highway 😁
I haven't dove into any big box stores yet. But I could see an ikea off of the road leading into the downtown. Thanks for the suggestion! I wish I would have thought about putting some of the art Deco buildings in hear. That would have been great! We may need to move some stuff around!

Wouldn't it be nice to get Starbucks into your city? In asia Starbucks love to open stores on exclusive places, like downtown, huge train/metro stations, parks and beaches. Why not open one near the subway station on your new IT area? And maybe add one in one of your parks? 😀☕🧋🥤
Starbucks is taking over the world 🤣 it would be more realistic to have one. Tha KS for the suggestion! Looks like big box and corporations may be coming to Crater Lake!

Thanks Paulo! I can be a little weird sometimes but it's all in good fun 🤣 I wish there was a way to make parks without having to do the main gate. It's why I usually just do custom parks without park assets.

I give the ppl what they want, like plazas, pools (prestige) in the ehhm lower income areas, free parks WITH assets etc -it's what taxes are for (not amusement parks oc) -you're easily 1 of the best, keep doin what u do

I’m from St Louis and we have Forrest Park (which is massive) and it’s has a free zoo within the park. And I’m not talking about a “free zoo”, it’s a full fledge zoo with hundreds of animals and it’s completely free to enter
I have driven past there before. I didn't know there was a zoo there. Thanks for the insight!
Maybe a bus station for the stadium would be nice that connects to the central station so people from outside of crater lake could have an easy travel to the game and back!
I love the metro bridges next to/attached to other bridges. We have loads in nyc.
If only you could attach a pedestrian or bike bridge to one
We end up changing the bridge a little in the next episode. I turn it into an above ground metro with the metro above the road. Just because of the challenge it would have been to have all of our metro come out from the plateau like the bridge we did in this one. It would be fun to do a pedestrian bridge though. This weekends episode is a good one. I design a whole pedestrian area for across the water there.

'Silica Ravine' could be a cool name for your high-tech development area. Crystalline silica is a common element found in rocks and sand, and a little play on California's Silicon Valley

I like this new build you're doing although may I suggest the new metro wye be made smoother and more compact. Also I think the district, park, and roundabout all have the first name the same. For example:
Sheffield District > Sheffield Plaza
Valley Gardens > Sheffield Gardens
Roundabout > Sheffield Rotary

You are now the second person to say that. Looks like we may be getting another dam! It would probably be the real life choice. I think the river may be to choppy for ferry service but I was hoping for one. Thanks for the suggestion!
Im suuper late but I hope those parking lot mods get an update where people actually use them! They look so sad being empty all the time
It does! I don't use parking ai with traffic manager which leaves them empty. It would look much better if they were full

Thanks Grambo! I'll look at it and see about outting in some bike access. We haven't really focused on bikes to much in this build. We used to have a bunch of bike lanes but ended up having to get rid of them. Thanks for the suggestion!

I really like this series so far. But I do have a question. Why would you do cemetery’s only, I understand its partially a capacity thing but cemeteries can’t remove the dead, so why not mix the two. I’d think it would go well if you used some kind of big cathedral or church and then do cemeteries next to it and then 2 crematoriums on the outside or something.
That's a good idea, I had decided to do the cemeteries because we have a bunch if crematorium around the city. It would be smart to put some crematorium next to them though. I haven't done a church yet that would be good! Thanks for the suggestion!
@@CityZilla yeah, you can even dedicate a special area around the city where a church complex would be facilitating both the cemeteries and crematoriums, like a modern necropolis or something.

Do you have some sort of like a Statue of Liberty-sized statue? I feel like it would be great to put one in an artificial island in the middle of the Downtown lake area.
There is a statue if liberty. I don't know how well it would fit in here. But I'll look at it and see how it looks. Thanks for the suggestion!
