Also, this may be outside of your budget but Koskun Falls seems like an auto include. Allows you to tap down something you don't want to enter combat AND is the black propaganda/prison.
the 'provoke' mechanic could be pretty good if someone has a creature they are holding back. armoury of iroas, and beastmasters ascension, and bow of nylea is a good way to pump your attackers. creatures with attack triggers, like etali are good for insuring you get value. dragon throne of tarkir, is a good way to keep thantis safe, and buff either attackers, or defenders. golden guardian can act as either mana, or a defender.
Love the neat moves bit :) Total war is some spicy tech btw but it's better in Xancha since your making an opponent basically play voltron for you. At least that's how I'm building my version of Her (it).
Actually guys the way that hornet's nest works is however much damage it is dealt, say 7 or 8, it's put that many insect creature tokens onto the battlefield, so 7 or 8 tokens will come into play.
The Resladero I think they kept it out for budget purposes. I run muse with leyline in my o kagachi deck that is similar to this, though. The DIY prophet is great
Beep beep beep BEEP beep. This. Is. Where we tell the Brew dudes that we love the Budget Report sound effects and the new "Neat Moves" intro! Also, such a spicy brew. So fun to consider how this can wreak havoc on other people's utility creature strategies. "You have a Blood Artist? That's cute. Slam it into my massive Spider, why don't you?" :D Love it!
I'm building a very similar deck, however my commander is o kagachi vengeful kami. Adding white and blue is nice. Allows you to run marchesa, keeper of keys, tamiyo field researcher, dissipation field, sun blast angel, heliod for vigilance, brutal hoard chief, settle the wreckage, master warcraft, edric, iroas, new mirri, Gisela and isperia. It's dumb and I love it
That sounds great! Yeah, White and Blue really add a lot to this strategy, but Thantis as a commander seems a bit more focused for it than the 5-colour dragon.
Slumbering Dragon is usually pretty bad because, while it is sometimes a mild disincentive for opponents to attack you, it has to sit out for so long before it accrues enough counters from attacks, and at some point during that time (and sometimes immediately) someone will be able to easily remove it. I really like that card but every time I've played it it hasn't had much of an effect on the game and has felt like a wasted slot in the deck.
I know you have changed your brew rules but I have brewed up a deck using your old rules and it is really fun to play. Is there any way to send you the list?
nice tricks guys i didn't think of that theres a similar creature called tempting wurm but thats way more risky since it can get all of the creatures and other permanent types from their hand into playing im absolutely shocked you guys didn't say Fumiko the Lowbloodshe forces your opponents creatures to attack and gets a big defense buff from number of attackers and all of this deathtouch talk and you forget about Archtype of finality it gives all you creatures deathtouch and never have to worry about the opponents creatures deathtouch a few other that fits perfectly Goblin spymaster same as fumiko force your opponents creatures to attack and not yours Rites of the raging: storm ( 5/1s with trample not allowed to attack you and you get one for your turns too) Dread and no mercy: (if the creatures touch you their dead besides if they have indestructible of coarse) Crown of doom: who ever has it the creatures get bigger when attacking the player and your banned from having the crown after you give it to someone Winds of Qal Sisma: basicly have a big enough creature fog your opponents creatures not your Terrifyinjg presences: same deal as the winds but only do this one during your opponents attacks and make your blocker or thantis the one that doesn't loose its damage Quest of Renewal: this is beautiful in the deck just need to tap four creatures doesn't matter how and basicly you have a "all creatures you control have viligence" in disguise
BAHH! Stop with the deathtouch!!...You know what also kills opponents creatures just as dead as deathtouch? Having the strongest creature - thats what! -- We should be talking LIFELINK with Thantis. Lifelink and giving your opponents tons of little weenie tokens. Upon test-runs this is Thantis' true greatness. Oh, you're attacking with 8x 1/1 myr tokens... Ok, Thantis will gain +8/8 before combat, devour 1 myr, now I gain life from your attack... My turn, guess I'm going to gain more life from my 14/14 vigilant critter. Also vows and goofy opponent buffs like sheltering ancient.
The entire point of this deck is making people attack you, have lots of deathtouch blockers so we can kill their attackers, beef thantis up, and then do 21 commander damage
It's all about having ways to disincentivize them from attacking you so they attack each other instead. Crawl space, no mercy, vigilance, deathtouch, etc
Thanks for the feedback. We do use some notes, but not down to each interaction. Would you be willing to be more specific about what you mean about being hard to understand? Is it interactions? Specific cards?
I did that evil villain laugh for 2 straight minutes when I heard of the Hunted Wumpus board wipe thing.
I remember building Thantis one time thinking it wouldn’t be too great, but oh my god it’s so much better than I thought it would be, even in 1v1.
I just bought this deck with a few twists, it sounds so fun! Plus I got a lightly played disrupt decorum for $2.50 so I just had to try this out.
We weren't 4 minutes into this video and I was already pulling cards for this! Such a cool idea! Punishes people who play sit-back-and-wait!
Oh man, this is the biggest compliment we can get! Thanks so much!
Also, this may be outside of your budget but Koskun Falls seems like an auto include. Allows you to tap down something you don't want to enter combat AND is the black propaganda/prison.
23:53 hey, that was me!
Sweet! Thanks Dylan!

We'll take 'em!
😅 neat moves intro music is excellent!
Matt Strott It may be a better sound byte if it was "Nice moves"
For the vigilance part you could put in seedborn muse effects in the deck.
The Resladero I think they kept it out for budget purposes. I run muse with leyline in my o kagachi deck that is similar to this, though. The DIY prophet is great
You are propably right but there are some budget options like Quest for Renewal or Awakening.
Building Thantis deck rn, thanks for cool tips guys, btw I am viewer number 8000!
Woah! Thanks for #8000!

Thanks! We're really happy with the new tweaks!

Sean has a very similar O Kagachi deck!
Commanders Brew I'd love to see it in action some time
That sounds great! Yeah, White and Blue really add a lot to this strategy, but Thantis as a commander seems a bit more focused for it than the 5-colour dragon.
need that decklist my duuuudes! great vid!
Now posted in the info! tappedout.net/mtg-decks/thantis-and-a-bit-of-xantcha/?cb=1534452901
@@CommandersBrewdone great job on this one!!!
How are you gonna equip the assault suit at instant speed?
Do you have a decklist for this
Was thinking about making an all deathtouch creatures with thantis deck. With enchantments that punish people for attacking you.
Ooh! Sounds spicy! When you get it put together, please share the decklist!
Love the inclusion of the hunted creatures. I always wanted them to work in a deck.
Yeah, this seems like the place!

YAY the Budget Report is back! I appreciate the inclusion, even without the strict dollar limit.
Yeah, we've still got budget roots, even though we changed our format a bit. The Budget Report is a key part of that!
Nice one fellas! Any chance of posting the deckllist?
Decklist is now posted! tappedout.net/mtg-decks/thantis-and-a-bit-of-xantcha/?cb=1534452901
You guys are the ultimate legends of budget commander, cheers!
Aw, shucks!
I know you have changed your brew rules but I have brewed up a deck using your old rules and it is really fun to play. Is there any way to send you the list?
This was pretty creative so going subscribe for a whilelook for grezo he was 12$$
Struggling to find a Deck List in Description? Sweet video though. Thumbs up. 👍🏻
Great video, very good ideas. Can you guys make a Lord Windgrace deck.
It's not out of the question, but since we just did an alternate from this commander precon, it wouldn't be for a while.
Hey fellas just noticed you mention Xantcha in the decklist, but she isn't actually in the decklist?
Robert Mitchell Ha! Oops! Or... So secret? Fixing...
Haha so confused, still not seeing her there :P
She's in now!
Commanders Brew legends!
nice tricks guys i didn't think of that theres a similar creature called tempting wurm but thats way more risky since it can get all of the creatures and other permanent types from their hand into playing
im absolutely shocked you guys didn't say Fumiko the Lowbloodshe forces your opponents creatures to attack and gets a big defense buff from number of attackers
and all of this deathtouch talk and you forget about Archtype of finality it gives all you creatures deathtouch and never have to worry about the opponents creatures deathtouch
a few other that fits perfectly
Goblin spymaster same as fumiko force your opponents creatures to attack and not yours
Rites of the raging: storm ( 5/1s with trample not allowed to attack you and you get one for your turns too)
Dread and no mercy: (if the creatures touch you their dead besides if they have indestructible of coarse)
Crown of doom: who ever has it the creatures get bigger when attacking the player and your banned from having the crown after you give it to someone
Winds of Qal Sisma: basicly have a big enough creature fog your opponents creatures not your
Terrifyinjg presences: same deal as the winds but only do this one during your opponents attacks and make your blocker or thantis the one that doesn't loose its damage
Quest of Renewal: this is beautiful in the deck just need to tap four creatures doesn't matter how and basicly you have a "all creatures you control have viligence" in disguise
why not have a bunch of fog cards so you take no dammige frome there attacks and thantis gets buff for free
BAHH! Stop with the deathtouch!!...You know what also kills opponents creatures just as dead as deathtouch? Having the strongest creature - thats what! -- We should be talking LIFELINK with Thantis. The entire point of this deck is making people attack you, have lots of deathtouch blockers so we can kill their attackers, beef thantis up, and then do 21 commander damage
Flamey the problem is that your “blockers” still have to attack due to thantis.
come on guys... this deck needs Vraska the Unseen!!
You're so right, I just never think of planeswalkers.... EVER. Gotta get out of that mindset!
more
Not sure how I feel about forcing players to attack... Seems like you're inviting people to kill you! 🤣
the more they try to kill you, the stronger your commander gets, seems like a fair tradeoff
It's all about having ways to disincentivize them from attacking you so they attack each other instead. Crawl space, no mercy, vigilance, deathtouch, etc
I like the way you think!
Yeah! Make them attack, and "make" them attack other players!
these dudes need a script or at least some notes. they're kinda hard to understand if you're not already familiar with the strategies.
Thanks for the feedback. We do use some notes, but not down to each interaction. Would you be willing to be more specific about what you mean about being hard to understand? Is it interactions? Specific cards?
