He had the opportunity to go home to Ontario and play for his childhood team for more money, but he chose to stay here and build us into a winner. I know this is a business, but that type of loyalty is rare and deserves to be rewarded by giving him the opportunity to be a one team player. Sign him, Breezy.
Can’t beat Florida weather and income tax laws. Taking less money in Tampa, and he probably still made more each year after taxes
@@Chyeahokay He would've cleared more in Toronto after taxes. They would've upped his AAV (something in the 9-10 neighborhood like JT) and on top of that would've gotten him every single Scotiabank and Canadian tire affiliated sponsor they can. It would have been a no contest.
My heart dropped when I glanced at the video description and my mind went to Exit Interview- being traded. I honestly don't want to know what this team will be like without Stamkos. He might say that this team is not one guy but He is Tampa Bay Lightning and my Captain. Look back at the Stanley Cup final against Dallas and when he scored that Goal. That was celebrated as much as winning the Cup.
Sitting their eating popcorn doesnt make him “your” captain , i mean unless you play for the lightning ?

Such a class act, I hope they can reach a deal. Stamkos has always been a huge part of this team, love to watch him. Even if he does slow down he will continue to bring huge value to the team.

Unfortunately there's no way to front load hockey contracts. Stammer and Heddy are up in age, but continue to play well. Even 4yr deals will come at a price. They'll get the same pay for the length of it. But age 26 deal and age 34 are not equal. I'm not saying homer discount, but be realistic. The pandemic really screwed our dynasty. Hope they both stay. Lots of good players still here, and the young ones (we managed to keep) will only get better.
Yes you can front or back load contracts. There can be no more than 50% difference between the high and low annual salary and no more than 35%cut or jump in a year to year.
As a massive TBL and Stammer fan I NEED to see him resigned. The way Marty St.Louis and Lecavalier left towards the end of their career left a sour taste and the only way to redeem it is to RESIGN THIS MAN!
St. Louis was on him he demanded it and abandoned the team because he was butt hurt . Team Canada coaching staff didn't want him so, Yzerman originally left him off the Olympic roster. Proof the coaching staff didn't want St.Liuis they healthy scratched him until injuries forced them to play him.
Stammer stays or loyalty no longer exists, and the franchise is forever stained and cursed

Its humble, its reflective in a way that defines growth, and its respectful to those who helped get you to where you are. Stamkos played with tenacity and poise at the end of the season, and really he was on fire during the series! INAUGURAL FAN, RESIGN THIS MAN!
