I was hoping that you would mention the non working nightwatch display, and maybe diagnose the common fault on why the illuminating light stops working. Great vid!
@@robertharkness3250 The Cobra nightwatch displays are kind of terrible and all fail within the first few years if not sooner. They are electro-luminescent displays powered by a high voltage ac inverter - in American models the inverter is usually sealed in a tiny metal box inside the radio (since its an inverter, its noisy so hence the metal box). From the Cobra NW radios I've had, this high voltage output is around 70-90V. Sometimes the inverter fails and can be repaired but its usually the display. Unfortunately the displays don't hold up well to vibration or the elements, and replacing it can cost more than the radio is worth.
Hate to say this, but the c r a p, being manufactured is just that c r a p. It's only going to get worse, we know this. Counterfeit Semi's, etc..... Etc. L G flat screens. Ever single one, same issue. Screen flashes, it's usually do a bad LED strip. Easy to do. Why, should anyone have to deal with this. Because they just want us all, to purchase another set. This is just the tip of the iceberg.
Sounds like a rig with speech processing on like the York's and rotel's with the audio. I thought it sounded pretty clear. Give me a shout when you catch up I've got a couple of radios and some other equipment you may like to take a look at, thanks.
Have you worked on a Cobra 29 LX Camo CB with low RF power output? I have one which had a blown final and burnt 22 ohm resistor in the base of the final. Both have been replaced but I can only get 1 watt RF out of the radio.
I am watching and this is a very different 29 than the u.s. models. My question is this a fm radio. And whats the difference on the uk to eou . Or is it am. May try to buy one of off ebay to play with. Thanks great video. 199 florida georgia line..
I've saved one of these radios from a skip the guy said it doesn't transmit or recieve,I've had a look inside and its quite rusty, could you fix it or have a look at it?

I have one with the same fault (nightwatch ) not working. Would be good to get some insight into the problem that cause it.

@@Sloxx701 i have had some luck with installing led lights and worked better than that crazy set up they chose to use.
Well done!! Faultfinding can be a real challenge sometimes...
Cheers
Great detective work to track down those faults!
