I grew up on the great music of the 60's-70's. CCR has always been one of my favorites. John Fogerty has one of the most unique & recognizable voices around. They don't have a bad song! Huge list of hits! "I Heard It Through The Grapevine", "Proud Mary", "I Put A Spell On You", "Fortunate Son", "Down On The Corner", "Green River", "The Midnight Special", "Susie Q", "Have You Ever Seen The Rain?", "Travelin' Band", "Run Through The Jungle", "Long As I Can See the Light", "Sweet Hitchhiker", "Bad Moon Rising" etc.
Agreed, but the poor sound quality of the recording didn't do them justice. They need to listen to some of (or all) of your suggestions to get a better idea as to how good they were.
God I miss the bands of the 60's and '70's......real music live.....great bands playing real instruments and singing....no crappy auto tune.......where has the great music gone
CCR is one of the greatest rock bands hands down. They're known for their bayou sound but they're actually from El Cerrito California, though John Fogarty's voice apparently didn't get the memo. They've put out some so many timeless classics. I would definitely recommend checking out their recording of Proud Mary at some point but my favorite from them has to be their version of I Put A Spell On You. Keep it up guys.
Studio version is amazing. John Fogerty (singer, lead and lyricist) is still performing live. Two or three of his kids join him and play guitar very well on stage. He has had an incredible solo career. If you're interested I suggest : "The Old Man Down The Road".👍👍
Good morning from Texas. Great song. CCR's songs always put me in mind of the Vietnam war. I dare say that every movie made about that war has at least one of their songs in it. "fortunate son" & "who'll stop the rain" are well worth listening to too.
As you dive deeper into CCR, you'll probably come across songs that you've heard in movies, especially movies with war scenes. They made a big impact in that genre.
this is how the sixties came to end and CCR was red hot - everything they did was just what we wanted. we followed them into the cusp of the seventies and they were so good. you could do yourself a favor and dedicate half your time from now till xmas just playing CCR tunes - you would see why everyone loves them.
The late 60's were a cataclysmic time for R&R music. I was in college and there were anti-war protests on all the major college campuses, including mine. Much of the music reflected the thoughts and feelings of many college people at the time.
Arguably the greatest American band, with John Fogerty also one of the country's greatest songwriters (also singer and guitarist0. They had an amazing run from around 1968 to 1973. Produced numerous classic tracks (including "Proud Mary," later memorably covered by Ike & Tina Turner)..
They weren't around for long but they left a legacy and a half...very unique band. From California but their sound is Swamp Rock and they sound Southern. I suggest one of my top 5 favourite all time songs, Creedence's cover of I Heard it through the Grapevine but you must do the 11 minute version. If i hear the short version on the radio, i turn it off in disgust but the long version is absolute gold.
John Fogarty tells a story about their time at Woodstock. They were supposed to go on in the late evening, but do to the band before them going over their time and a massive downpour they didn't start until 2 or 3 in the morning. He said as he looked out at the crowd everyone was passed out, drenched and covered in mud. He announced the band and one guy said something and passed back out.
While a lot of their songs revolved around life in the deep south, especially the gulf coast (their music is often colloquially called "swamp rock"), the band itself came from the San Francisco area. They put quite a few songs into the top 40, so you have a lot of songs to choose from, and you will find that they are all bangers. I would recommend "Proud Mary", "Suzy Q", and "Have You Ever Seen the Rain" as some of their best. They also did a fantastic cover of "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" that you should really hear, although I would say listen to the Marvin Gaye version first so you know what the listening public's conception of that song would have been when CCR released their cover. One last recommendation I would make is that if you find there is both a short version and a long version of a CCR song, listen to the long one. The album versions of their songs sometimes include long instrumental jams that were cut from the shortened singles versions formatted for radio play, and CCR were masters at jamming.
Get ready to dive into the deep rabbit hole of CCR's hits. Such a great band!! Another awesome performance that you should check out from Woodstock would be Santana's "Soul Sacrifice". It will blow your socks off!! BTW - Everyone thinks CCR is from the South but they are from California.
Yes more CCR, UP AROUND THE BEND ,"Fortunate Son", "Down On The Corner", "Green River", "The Midnight Special", " "Have You Ever Seen The Rain?", "Travelin' Band", ", "Sweet Hitchhiker", "Bad Moon Rising" etc.
It's a much shorter fior TV version of this song vs. The studio version but so great anyway. CCR was a phenomenal group and Fogarty's vocals were unique, bringing in that blues rock feel. Their version of Heard it Through the Grapevine and I Put a Spell on You demonstrate their love of R & B and Blues they mix with their Riock sound.
CCR is solid gold and John Fogerty, his voice is so gritty and beautiful at the same time. Wait until you here his most popular solo song, Centerfield.
I think it's funny that people believe things happening 50 years ago is so far removed. All of our senior family members were alive then and the reverberating that began in the 60's is still very loud. Thanks for your great reactions. Love your channel.
Their song Fortunate Son is one of the many Vietnam protest songs. The lyrics talk about the rich kids that didn't have to go fight and the poor/middle class kids that did. Used in a lot of war movies about that era. Great song.
If you plan to look into Woodstock please look into 'The summer of soul' which occurred the same year. Great film of it, as was the Woodstock film (but shorter)
CCR is a well-known band whose music is in movies and was standard on the radio, even decades after their official era. "Swamp rock" is the term coined mainly for them.
If you go down the Woodstock road, next stop should be "Going Home" by Ten Years After. But, there are SO many great performances there: Sly & the Family Stone, Jimi Hendrix, etc.
John Fogerty was the brains behind CCR IMO. Recommend - Fortunate Son, Have You Ever Seen the Rain, Run Through the Jungle, Bad Moon Rising, Lookin' Out My Back Door, I Heard it Through the Grape Vine, Green River, Proud Mary, Who'll Stop the Rain, Travelin' Band, The Midnight Special, Up Around the Bend, Down on the Corner, SuzieQ
They were from California but after all the great songs they made about Louisiana, the state of Louisiana adopted CCR as honorary sons. Also 'who do there' just means, 'who's there'.
They have such a deep catalog, they put out so much incredible music in a handful of years. So many hits and just so much good stuff. One of America's favorite bands. And some of their songs have been in tons of movies and video games and commercials but mostly movies. When he was talking at the end there he was trying to get what I think was probably the side feel monitor active so you've always got a manager stage first and it sounded kind of haphazard, but honestly in that mix, I could pick out everything perfectly but then my ears are used to that kind of thing. But what he was doing after that was introducing their very next song and he said it was going to be a short one, and it was their iconic hit, Green River, which is the title track from one of their incredible albums. Definitely check out some studio stuff now that you know what they look like. These are recordings that just got played so much on the radio and so much at parties and other peoples houses and this song right here was an incredible song to dance to and do other fun things with.
🇨🇦 Now that you have touched on WoodStock, and shamefully said this is your first track from that Concert, you will have to react to more ! Recommended to round out your experience would be " With a little help from my friends" by Joe Cocker, "White Rabbit" by Jefferson Airplane and "Soul Sacrifice" by Santana !
Easter break 1969. Blared this out of our VW bus while camped at the Colorado river. God I miss those innocent days. Four 17 year old high school girls senior year.
Thank you! CCR was always a favorite band of mine. We once caught my straight-laced, suit wearing Dad playing (quite loudly!) my brothers Creedence record when he thought no one was home! John Fogarty is a brilliant guitar player and songwriter as well as the owner of one of the coolest voices ever! Please treat yourselves and us to more Creedence...
Definitely check out the album version. CCR has a ton of good songs. "Mama Told Me Not To Come" is another good one, and paints a funny picture as well.
Need to check the Woodstock lineup.. From Hendrix to the Greatful Dead... to Janis and the Who.. but 2 Standout performances were Santana and Ten Years After .. check em out. I implore you!! Lol. If you like of course. Good work guys
Every reactor who hears CCR for the first time disappears down the rabbit hole eventually. That combination of Fogerty's nasty vocals and the classic skunk rock instrumental sound just can't be beat. Hit after hit after hit, with a unique blend of nostalgia and protest. A full album reaction to "Willy and the Poor Boys" would be awesome.
Woodstock staples would start with The Who See Me Feel Me / Santana Soul Sacrifice / Sly Stone I Want to Take You Higher and Jimi Hendrix Star Spangled Banner/Purple Haze. Most of the 1st (3 LP set) album is worthwhile.
Yes rest in peace Tina and she did an amazing job on Proud Mary, but love the original by CCR. Wait until you hear their version of Heard it Through the Grape Vine....but if you listen to it, it has to be the long version.
You will be listening to many of CCR's songs if you are serious about music. Even more important to understanding the era, however, is watching scenes from Woodstock. There have been many, many documentaries, but for me the best chronicle is the first movie released in 70/71. The Jimi Hendrix version of The Star Spangled Banner is mesmerizing, but for me, Sly and The Family performing "I Want to Take You Higher" is high point of the movie. The promoters lost their shirts at Woodstock, and they only recouped their investment from the movie rights.
Oh my…the studio/original version is the way to go here. Love Woodstock but this is distorted and you are missing some sound here. But pretty good for live
I grew up on the great music of the 60's-70's. CCR has always been one of my favorites. John Fogerty has one of the most unique & recognizable voices around. They don't have a bad song! Yes
Agreed, but the poor sound quality of the recording didn't do them justice. They need to listen to some of (or all) of your suggestions to get a better idea as to how good they were.
Yeah Suzue Q!!! Fuck I love that song!!! And, Stuck in ol Lodi again (is that what it's called?). And fortunate son! Omg so many awesome songs!!!
Fuck YES!!! 🤘🤘🤘
Add "Lodi" to that excellent list.
CCR had 10 hit songs in less than 4 years from 1968 to early 1972. John Fogerty, the lead singer, is a true poet the way he writes the lyrics.
Actually it is 20 hit songs in 4 years. Chronicle is the greatest hits. Check it out
Four guys, four instruments. No auto tune, no special effects or backing tracks. Now THAT is talent, y’all.
God I miss the bands of the 60's and '70's......real music live.....great bands playing real instruments and singing....no crappy auto tune.......where has the great music gone
AMEN! Facts!
I remember my parents saying the same thing when they saw Elvis.
I second that question???
Amen! They played great live and who doesn't miss the little scratches from thier LP waitin' on the next song. The little " pop" sounds I mean.
There’s no one like CCR! Listen to their version of Heard it through the Grapevine next!
Can u believe they're from San Francisco😮
Definitely do Heard it through the Grapevine
Studio version
I said the same thing, but I said they have to do the long version
Check out CCR at Albert Hall great show.
CCR is one of the greatest rock bands hands down. They're known for their bayou sound but they're actually from El Cerrito California, though John Fogarty's voice apparently didn't get the memo. Yes ... I Put A Spell On You
"John Fogarty's voice apparently didn't get the memo!" Hahahaha!!!! Winner comment!
I love this group beyond words ! They have a huge rabbit hole and have no bad songs ! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 known for "swamp music sound"
John is one of the few rockers who could regularly deliver live vocals, just as well as studio recordings.
CCR... The most "swampy", Southern Louisiana/Mississippi band to ever come out of San Francisco. Yes, San Francisco.😂
Couldn't have said it any better myself!
and they are Calif. guys.
CCR huge catalog!!!
Welcome to the world of CCR. Massive hits and bangers. Please do more. Fortunate Son is a must
CCR IS 1 OF THE GREATEST BANDS OF ALL-TIME AND WILL ALWAYS BE!!!
One of the most distinctive voices in rock history.
Don't forget "Have You Ever Seen The Rain". A true classic band. one for the ages.
Studio version is amazing. John Fogerty (singer, lead and lyricist) is still performing live. Two or three of his kids join him and play guitar very well on stage. He has had an incredible solo career. If you're interested I suggest : "The Old Man Down The Road".👍👍
Hoodoo is a magical, mystical, spiritual, non-defined apparition, like a ghost or a shadow, not necessarily evil.
CCR never gets old, i could live with just to bands the rest of my life CCR and Eagles,
Good morning from Texas. Great song. CCR's songs always put me in mind of the Vietnam war. I dare say that every movie made about that war has at least one of their songs in it. "fortunate son" & "who'll stop the rain" are well worth listening to too.
And 'Run through the Jungle'
As you dive deeper into CCR, you'll probably come across songs that you've heard in movies, especially movies with war scenes. They made a big impact in that genre.
Every Vietnam movie has a CCR song!!
Sooo many great CCR songs, we need more CCR!
this is how the sixties came to end and CCR was red hot - everything they did was just what we wanted. we followed them into the cusp of the seventies and they were so good. you could do yourself a favor and dedicate half your time from now till xmas just playing CCR tunes - you would see why everyone loves them.
Creedance Clearwater Revival Green River was one of the first albums I bought with money from a holiday job, well worth listening too
The late 60's were a cataclysmic time for R&R music. I was in college and there were anti-war protests on all the major college campuses, including mine. Much of the music reflected the thoughts and feelings of many college people at the time.

I tend to slightly prefer the Byrds. But I think CCR had way more hits
I have been saying they may be the greatest American band forever. We’re on the same wavelength brother!
I am so grateful I grew up in the 50's, 60's and in college by 1970. I got to listen to the best music ever.
CCR is hard to beat. You will love their many hits.
Their song Susie Q is used in its entirety in the movie Apocalypse Now. The CCR catalog is extensive and excellent. Welcome to the 60s.
The studio recording is a masterpiece.
Their “green river” album rocked all the way thru. “Cross tie walker”. “Tombstone shadow”, excellent songs
They could play anything and it would sound great. Every single song in their catalog is a banger
Hi from North Carolina so many great hits from CCR. "Fortunate Son" is a MUST!!!
The studio version is a must for this song
John Fogarty tells a story about their time at Woodstock.
They were supposed to go on in the late evening, but do to the band before them going over their time and a massive downpour they didn't start until 2 or 3 in the morning.
He said as he looked out at the crowd everyone was passed out, drenched and covered in mud. He announced the band and one guy said something and passed back out.
There from Northern California in El Cerrito it's in the bay area. They have so many great songs you need to dive into.
While a lot of their songs revolved around life in the deep south, especially the gulf coast (their music is often colloquially called "swamp rock"), the band itself came from the San Francisco area. Don't forget Fortunate Son, a protest song about the Vietnam war.
CCR still holds the record for having the most songs reach number 2 on Billboard (6) without ever reaching number 1.
My favorite group ofall time! ;
I gotta say y’all, everything CCR does is gold. It’s rare you can say that about a group but it’s true here.
SANTANA
Bob Seger a week ago and now CCR, man you guys are knocking it out of the park with the content!
many times these guys would be radiating out my lounge windows back in the late 60s early 70s. . . awesome sounds
Get yourselves a real good listen to CCR's I put a spell on you ! Absolutely amazing
Always in my book...go for the grit of live performing!
Please do lots of CCR ! They are awesome ! Fogerty wrote so many classic hits, it’s hard to believe !
The studio version is even better. This is pretty close but take a listen to the record/radio version.
Thanks folks.
UK viewer and have loved CCR since the 70s. Their distinctive sound grabbed me from the start.
Quelle brune!!!
CCR the BEST
❤❤🔥🔥
CCR. Listened a lot to them when young 🤗🇧🇻
Joe Cocker sang “A Little help from my Friends “ at Woodstock. He is similar to Janice in the way they both abandon themselves to the music.
It's a much shorter fior TV version of this song vs. The studio version but so great anyway. CCR was a phenomenal group and Fogarty's vocals were unique, bringing in that blues rock feel. Well said! 🤗✌️
"I Put A Spell On You" their live version is amazing. So is "I Heard It Through the Grapevine".
Their song Fortunate Son is one of the many Vietnam protest songs. The lyrics talk about the rich kids that didn't have to go fight and the poor/middle class kids that did. Used in a lot of war movies about that era. Great song.
Swamp music....ICONIC ARTISTS! 😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
They do have the studio version. All their songs are awesome!
Their whole catalog is gold. Love me some CCR.
If you plan to look into Woodstock please look into 'The summer of soul' which occurred the same year. Great film of it, as was the Woodstock film (but shorter)
I saw John Fogerty in 2018 or 2019 still sounds amazing!
Gotta love CCR ! So many great songs.
I love their version of "Heard It Through The Grapevine" . One of the few songs they did that they didn't write.
CCR is a well-known band whose music is in movies and was standard on the radio, even decades after their official era. "Swamp rock" is the term coined mainly for them.
Super Groovy Choice! Love your reactions. This is one of my mom's favorite bands. Nice One Guys! Peace On Ya
One thing about CCR.
The music always has a great beat to it.
The Drummer's great.
If you go down the Woodstock road, next stop should be "Going Home" by Ten Years After. But, there are SO many great performances there: Sly & the Family Stone, Jimi Hendrix, etc.
One of my all time favorite bands! Not a bad song in their library. Proud Mary, Up around the Bend, Looking out my Back Door and many other 😊
John Fogarty's vocals always instantly recognizable. Unique.
Grew up on their music. Still love that sound.
They were the biggest band in the world in 1969-70, and deservedly so. No band had a higher slugging percentage than CCR.
Yup, another great band from '60s/'70s.... Really fun watching you guys discover all this great music for the first time!!!
CCR has a big catalog of music. Very popular. Enjoy!
They have such a deep catalog, they put out so much incredible music in a handful of years. So many hits and just so much good stuff. One of America's favorite bands. And some of their songs have been in tons of movies and video games and commercials but mostly movies.

I love the raw sound of both his vocals and the music
Easter break 1969. Blared this out of our VW bus while camped at the Colorado river. God I miss those innocent days. Four 17 year old high school girls senior year.

Definitely check out the album version. CCR has a ton of good songs. "Mama Told Me Not To Come" is another good one, and paints a funny picture as well.
3 platinum albums put out in the same year - 1969. An unparalleled feat, and well earned.
They are popular today! John Fogerty is THE rock singer of this age!
Need to check the Woodstock lineup.. From Hendrix to the Greatful Dead... to Janis and the Who.. but 2 Standout performances were Santana and Ten Years After .. check em out. I implore you!! Lol. If you like of course. Good work guys
another one at woodstock concert was creedence rival I put a spell on you Its really good!
Fogerty’s voice is a backwoods howl.
Welcome to dirty swamp water soul music.
I grew up to CCR and they are epic.
Certainly the best southern rock band from San Francisco
Every reactor who hears CCR for the first time disappears down the rabbit hole eventually. That combination of Fogerty's nasty vocals and the classic skunk rock instrumental sound just can't be beat. Hit after hit after hit, with a unique blend of nostalgia and protest. A full album reaction to "Willy and the Poor Boys" would be awesome.
🔥🔥🔥🔥CCR John Fogerty excellent voice, very good Creedence waiting for more reactions from Gun's n Roses please. Thanks and good vibes 💚💛❤️
From
El Cerrito CA. Another one of the greatest bands of the 60s from the San Francisco Bay area..
Yes rest in peace Tina and she did an amazing job on Proud Mary, but love the original by CCR. Wait until you hear their version of Heard it Through the Grape Vine....but if you listen to it, it has to be the long version.

The promoters lost their shirts at Woodstock, and they only recouped their investment from the movie rights.
You should do Ten Years After doing I'm coming Home at Woodstock
Run through the jungle is another great song from them and is related to the Vietnam war.
"Wish I was back on the bayou, rollin' with some Caju n queen." Best line in the song.
One of the greatest rock bands of all time.
FIRE🔥🔥🔥🔥. , one of their best and it's extremely difficult for me to choose what was the best!!!
Oh my…the studio/original version is the way to go here. Love Woodstock but this is distorted and you are missing some sound here. But pretty good for live
My all time greatest album CCR Chronicles
