Pacific Rim needs a sequel... you know... an actual sequel, but it needs a prequel about the first Jaegers even more.

I often wonder how mind-blowingly epic it'd be to see the First Gen's super-clunky Jaegers like Cherno Alpha, Brawler Yukon, Horizon Brave, Coyote Tango etc finally pushing back the yet-unstoppable Kaiju hoard for the first time. The first victory for humanity in the 12 year long Kaiju War.
This would be long before Jaegers became so popular to the people of that world and long before Jaeger pilots became the rock stars we see in the mini-prologue at the start of PR.
It could also show the side effects of Jaeger pilots of the yet-unrefined drift tech and the proximity to the constant nuclear radiation from the Jaeger's engines. Radiation poisoning and drift-related psyche issues like hearing noises, hallucinations, mood swings. Just really show the human element.

About the godzilla series that's going to appear around next year you could put in a rift wear pacific rim kaigu or even Yeagers could appear it could only be a small cameo. Just putting that idea out

Pacific Rim got robbed.
Pacific Rim had so much potential as a franchise. It was one of the most promising lore and world building I ever saw in a movie from Hollywood in a long time. And the same people who bitch Hollywood does nothing but sequels screwed it over by going to see Grown Ups 2. Other countries saved it by giving it a chance. And then Upraising happened. I understand Del Toro was busy and couldn't do it like originally planned but if anyone should have done the sequel it should have been him. I don't even think DeKnight and his team are bad filmmakers, they're competent, they just weren't the right ones for the job.
Now it's been reduced to an animated show which might be okay? I have no interest in it. I still have the Xbox digital arcade game and it's fun but man this series deserves better games and sequels. Heck I'd take a prequel.
I think he said that they would not give him time to do it because they were on a schedule he wanted more time to do the movie but they did not allow him to it would be a banger if they gave him time to to the movie
