My hand controls operate the same way too.. No driving assist though.. But as a users of these hand controls the user absolutely must check on them from time to time to see if any screws or bolts come lose etc. If you can reach the bolts and screws to tighten them and keep everything on lock down you should be ok. But if you can't, take it to someone who can. Maintaining your hand controls is very important. And i must say these hand controls are mechanical-hand-controls. So if you can react fast to a situation so will your hand controls. Especially if they are maintained
I work in a body shop and I've been in one of these cars that are equipped like this and there is absolutely no chance whatsoever of you being able to respond in an emergency...None.. not only are you putting yourself in danger but other drivers as well buy trying to act like you aren't disabled... It may sound harsh but people with no control of their legs should not be allowed to drive automobiles...
