- After spending the last 3 days religiously using this oven, here is my detailed review of my new KickAss oven from Australian Direct. The oven has an RRP of $289 with the trivet tray and is available online and in their showroom.

Great recipes for 12v ovens: ...
Loving the vlog style start, really entertaining and helpful to see it just during everyday use!
Cheers Kate! Yeah I’m glad I had the opportunity to use it so many times over the weekend, nothing like hot pizza and food on the beach
Man these travel ovens are mint, definitely on the list. Also keep up the videos mate there grouse
Ah I know! I’ve always wanted to get myself one. This really lived up to all the hype and more, thoroughly impressed. Thanks for the positivity mate!
This is awesome! Now I want one of these! 🤯🤩
Thanks Sam! It's such a handy item to have
I don't have this oven, I have the tent world one which is similar. I find if you're cooking pies, sausage rolls or pizza, it's best to have it defrosted before cooking. I use it for hot lunches at work, I wormpk on the road, so I chuck my food in at 5am, turn it on 1hr before I want to eat (roughly) Nd the food always turns out mint. I do wrap my food in foil to avoid cleaning the oven. Plus I think the foil helps the food keep warm and cook a touch faster
Ok that's awesome!! I want pizza on the beach 🏖️🍕
I announced to the convoy I needed to pull over to put the pizza and sausage rolls in and as soon as we stopped I was surrounded by people who also wanted pizza on the beach 😂
The travel buddy brand doesn't bow up where the element is and touch the wire rack like on these Chinese units also the the vent holes on the door on the travel buddy are at the top of the door which allows the steam to dissipate and escape where those cheaper ovens the vents are at the side of the door which doesn't allow enough venting and steam and moisture build up and the food steams and doesn't get as crispy, I just took back my Chinese unit identical to yours and paid the extra for the travel buddy. My advice pay the extra for the original.
Interesting mate! I don’t use mine too much for it to bother me, when I do the food is always good anyway 👌
It's a rebranded Road Chef.. and they're better than the travel buddy, which is Aussie made, but they've cut corners, and can't produce a winner product
Each to their own mate! Enjoy your road chef 👍🏼
@@jimmys_jimny: Yep to clarify. i think the Kickass is a rebadged RoadChef, so it's a good unit .. i'd got no qualms buying either one. Cheers!
I’d say so too! Looks like a few other companies are rebranding them now too, I even saw Ironman have one 🤣
Hi mate can u check if the fuse Holder get hot when it’s running please would great if u could let me know
Hey mate it gets warm but not hot. Have you got a battery shunt to measure it’s power draw? Mines pulling around 10.5amps from cold
awesome vid! just curious but what kind of fridge are you running?
Cheers mate! It’s just a dometic CF40, picked it up for really cheap at anaconda as they were clearing stock for the CFX range. It’s been great though, not too power hungry, fits perfectly and also is enough space for a few days to a weeks worth of food
When the oven is warmed up, is the bottom of the internal cavity bowed upwards?
Yeah mate it does! I think they all do. Not overly concerned though :)
@@jimmys_jimny thanks for confirming. Must be normal then.... 😅
Use a 14 v step up power supply. It will work Wayyyyy better. And use less power
Thanks mate, will look into it!
Ripper vid Jimmy
Thanks Daid!
@@jimmys_jimny I read this as Dad at first, I was like, lol James’ Dad is giving him praise via UA-cam 🤣
How does it go on your battery? Im thinking of getting one but not sure on power usage. I have a goal zero 1000x
Hi mate, it draws 10a when it’s running. I wouldn’t advising running it from your goal zero, it’s better to run it from your vehicle while driving and then get it nice and hot before switching it over to the goal zero
Do you know how many aH the goal zero is?
@@jimmys_jimny I bealive its 91. This is whats on their site.
983Wh (10.8V, up to 91Ah)
@@robertborg1905 in that case you should be fine to run it. But I still warm it up before arriving using the alternator
It shouldnt take 1.5 hours or 2 hours. Should take an hour maximum. I think ur cooking at too low of a heat. Should be full 180 degrees celcius.
It’s cooking at the max heat setting mate. This is also cooking a semi frozen product. These ovens don’t have a fan like your conventional kitchen oven which is why the cook faster.
These have a single element on the bottom so will always take longer
@@jimmys_jimny fair enough. Just used mine two days. Also gotta have total time of 1 hour 40 mins. U were right my bad
@@bbuildingmarch7060 no worries mate! Pretty annoying how slow they are but good if you put it on before you get to camp etc
@@jimmys_jimny yeah legit. And ive noticed, this oven does get food warm and crispy but i wouldnt describe the food as hot food. It cools down very fast whikst im eating. I wish it was fan forced or had more temp
