Pete, good to see youve done so well. Followed your career for a few years. You were a really good painter even at 14! All the best. Mr Johnson - the history teacher!
Mr Johnson!! I can't believe it's you! I can honestly say that a big part of the reason I'm still in the hobby is because of the club you set up so thank you. I hope you and your family are well!
Aww! well isn’t this just wholesome 😍👍
We're starting to define the range of Peachy's small talk, from "I will find out everything about you"... to pegging.
What a legend. This is quickly becoming the best miniature related podcast.
😍🙌😍
His voice is pure ASMR for the hobby in a comforting way.
Nice. Pete the magician nevermind the wargamer. I've honestly not got the bottle to attempt some of the tricks he has, hats off to Pete. As usual lads appreciate the hard work and content you put in and out, same goes for Pete. Thanks fellas
Much love to Pete, he's a true asset to the hobby. Great episode!
We would love to see you on there too Richard!
What I love about Pete’s stuff is it’s “aspirationally achievable”. It will stretch you as a hobbyist but the way he approaches it, makes you think you can do it which is great.
With regards to multi-part vs monopose: I think it's actually the dynamic poses that contribute to everything looking the same. When you have an army of genericly posed multi-part marines it looks like an army of space marines. When the poses are all very dynamic the individual models stand out more and it becomes more obvious when they are repeated several times throughout an army. The newer models look absolutely spectacular on a squad level though.
That is a very good and fair point 👍
What a class act Pete is! Great guest!
The man. The myth. The Wargamer! Love these weekly chats. Your guests have been top tier and cannot wait to hear how quickly you get sidetracked with the legendary Pete!
Thanks for the shout out for my Tyranids, Pete! ❤
Geoff talking about the "detonators" gave me flashbacks of sitting in my Dad's van when he worked for the railways, absolutely terrified of what I thought were C4 charges in his glovebox 🤣
those detonators are fun though, especially when "expired" and they need triggering
Pete the Wargamer... I am so thankful for all the tutorial you posted when I returned to the hobby. You made me improve tremendously! So happy to see this interview!
Also even as a Frenchman, I found his voice was so calm and clear. Great tutorials!
The ribs-themed Corpse Grinder should be called Babyback
Looking forward to this one. Pete is such a wonderful member of the community. Hopefully, one day I will be sitting with you all. Keep up the great work all of you.
This is my favourite UA-cam vid to watch each week. Not just hobby vid either
Aww thanks Dan 🥰🥰🥰
Loving the content. Really good to hear from Pete! Conversion is my favourite aspect of the hobby and I absolutely adore the look they have before they get primed where you can see all of the components. It's like opening an artists private sketchbook!
Once again another great episode finally able to put a face to the hands with Pete the Wargamer. The little explosive charges used on the railroad were called “Torpedoes” in the states. Every locomotive had them until they were removed many years ago.
Great content keep up the good work.
Been enjoying Pete's videos for around 3 years now. Never a dull moment each time a new one drops, this was a fun episode! Thanks guys!
Just keep getting the best guests on fellas, bravo and long may it continue!
Loved Pete from 2016!! So many great tutorials and help. Thanks man.
Pete seems like such a nice guy, my first fully painted mini wad following his Ork Warboss from AoS. His conversions are inspiring too. Great episode very happy you guys were able to have him on
Love these videos. Loved all the guests so far and can't wait to see who comes next. My kitbashing skill is very low but watched Pete's videos for years. Best ones so far I think are the rotting boat walker and the boat crab.
I've been going through these podcasts while painting for the past two weeks, keep them coming lads, great hosts, awesome guests, fantastic energy, just great content.
I am just glad pete gets these "now do this for an army" comments too... in a way it makes the struggle more bearable if we are all in the same boat...lol...
Phteven?
I'm glad you managed yet another fantastic chat. Cup of tea, a biscuit, and over 100 minutes of pure entertainment. Thank you kindly!
Also, "Bits from the Emperor" sounds like something the Inquisition might frown upon just slightly.
Great chat again guys. thanks again for yet more great content! :)
@thepaintingphase, thanks for great chat! inspired me to do my first kitbash, nighthaunt chainrasp bodies + necron warriors Gauss guns
Another awesome chat with a really great guest.
Really enjoyed it.
Thanks guys! :-)
My first Pete the Wargamer videos were the chaos cultists conversion ones and got a bit hooked. Being a lost and the damned/renegades and heretics player collector sort they were great inspiration. Ended up making a big squad of his Death Guard cultists. So easy and fun to do. But yes keep up with the wonderful guests. Maybe Snipe and Wib next please.
great episode! absolutely love Pete the Wargamer . thanks for having him on.
I love the amazing vibe of you 4 genuinely kind and awesome guys. I would love to see Arbitor Ian getting sidetracked with you!
Actually suggested it to him and got a ❤ to the comment on his recent quick painting video 🤞
Excellent. My newest must listen to podcast. Perfect for painting my DA too!
I never knew about those train warning detonators until someone from the rail network came in to school and gave us a talk on what they were and why we shouldn't go near them. At the next bell almost the entire school poured down to the rail track to look for them. All you could hear for days was the sound of loud bangs as they were set off. Happy Days. Great video as always by the way!
🤣🤣🤣 times change but kids never will lol
Pete is a bloody genius, the imagination he shows putting these amazing kitbashes together is brilliant.
Still waiting to see you take on my challenge though Pete... where's my Warp Spider? 😁
Trick question! His name is THE
It's an acronym, it stands for peTe tHe wargamEr
I'd like to see Tim as a guest on the show - he's like a character that gets mentioned a lot who we never see.
Just a class act. Great job, guys.
I must have been living in a hole… I’ve never come across Pete the Wargamer or his content! Strange how it hasn’t come across my mini related feeds! I’ll go check it out :) good show as usual!
Great episode, these are fast becoming my fav hobby podcasts.
Pete was an awesome guest and he has a face who knew
this was amazing thank you all!
These have become a regular part of my week, these podcasts. Sidetracked, just like my own brain.
Great episode! It would be nice to include pictures of the miniatures you are talking about. Just a little bit of feedback for you. Keep up your great work!
Peachy smashing it out the park with the knitwear once again
I do tons of converting, honestly not heard of him before so will give him a look!
Also cracking biscuit detail this week, I love a custard cream...
First time I watched Pete was for the Zombicide tutorial, such good times! Love his content and the way he explains stuff. I'm color blind so I always need help about if I'm using the right colour lol. Thanks to this guy I got a hobby for life and it helped me so much during the worse period of the pandemic =). Cheers P!
I really do love these interview-style vids. They're super fun.
It’s great being able to do them, and to be received so well, win win I guess lol
@@thepaintingphase HOWEVER, I'm worried about you "running out" of people in the UK to interview. It'd be cool if y'all had enough money to fly people out for interviews but I imagine that would be far too cost prohibitive. I can dream I guess. Or maybe you can catch people when they're flying in to the UK for events? It'd be interesting to see if there's a big difference in the hobby in different countries.
Pete's work definitely gave me confidence in cutting hands and arms and all and to experiment a bit more for all of my models
Pete is an amazing guest and painter Ty.
Pete! One of the first hobby channels I subscribed to and still a big inspiration today.
Brilliant as always
19:05 I haven't played the Warhammers in years, but when I did, this right here was my modelling MO. I almost never bought metal kits. Eldar Aspect Warriors would be converted from Guardian sprues, and any extra shuriken pistols would be shaved down from catapults. Those stodgy-looking plastic Terminators were surprisingly easy to re-pose into something more dynamic with a little bit of cutting and putty (including into Chaos Terminators and Obliterators). Space Marine Scouts were put together from multi-part Marines and Catachan bits. My High Elf commander came almost entirely from a Silver Helms sprue.
Although some of Pete's conversions _can_ run into the spendy side, he's inspiration that shows it doesn't _have_ to... 😁
Really lovely video, i used to read that blog - loved it!
Wee request, could you possibly do an interview with Code Walrus - he did a podcast recently with the Iterator's podcast, but is really fascinating to talk about homebrewing and house ruling games, and is UK based.
I was mid-way through converting a Coldstar Commander, inline with Pete’s Farsight Crisis suit video, when I came across this video. A real champion of the hobby
Pete the Wargamer was doing "Hands only videos" long before GW stole his gimmick lol. Great Video as always and I can't wait for the next necromunda campaign featuring a new warband where every model is a variation of STEVE
Great vid as always, loved the questions and answers! Have to agree ketchup for bacon and brown for sausage!
Another great chat guys. Keep it going. Thanks for the chat at Chillcon. 😊
Thanks! And your welcome, ‘‘twas a great event indeed
Another fantastic video really entertaining, Steve is such a cool dude and his videos are top tier! I think the best part of this video was the convo about Brown sauce or Tomato sauce and if its in the fridge or the cupboard hahaha cheers ladz ! PS Steve did a great job on Mad Dok Grotsnik WAAAGGGHHHH 😊😅 Good on ya Stevo! 👍🏻
Pete! what a wonderful guest.
Great video and a real genuine guy.
The only problem I have with these chat videos is I'm now subscribing to more UA-camrs and watching more content.....Its a vicious cycle I'm now stuck in lol
Yikes! But I also understand this predicament lol
The good biscuits are out! - what will the turn out be next time?! XD
I think Pats new corpse grinder should be called Honey Roast, and lean into a winnie the pooh colour scheme
Spooky you started talking about the Christmas emergency shop/ice cream van and one pulled up in front of my house… it’s a sign!!!
Great video as always
Haha! Ice cream and batteries 😂
Really enjoyed the show guys thanks all... I too was very surprised at how much younger Pete looks than he sounds! I do like his Flames of War and Bolt Action videos too. Peachy always leaves me with dubious mental images after these shows....now Im stuck on ones involving him and vaseline!
😂😂😂
Lol forgot to mention how God damn loud the brick separator is
Great episode, gents! I think Lard is a good name for Patrick's model, but I like "Suet" better. But if Pat wants a rib-related name, I vote "Costello", which kind of works on both levels.
Also, even if you don't convert things as avidly as Pete, never buy Mechanicus bits by themselves - you'll ALWAYS use virtually the whole kit given enough time. Those are super useful kits!
The tassels off the shoulders like the Cataphractii armour are called ptergues. I think I’ve just proved a point.
😂👍
Just a random tip for anyone wanting to do kit bashing, never forget the storytelling of a paint job, I’ve recently discovered that whole army wide changes can be a bit exhausting, my solution... just don’t. Paint schemes can still tell the story you want without having to make every single little model different to each other
Pete is such an inspiration ❤
Another great video. Cheers gents
Great chat as always, some very illuminating points of discussion. Love the minis Pete kitbashed for you guys, looking forward to seeing those pop up in another battle report down the line!
Re: the conversation about modern monopose multiparts vs the loose torso/legs/arms approach of yesteryear.. Personally, I don't really care about the whole 'everyone's army looking the same' side of things on the new approach because - as Geoff himself says - it never really made much of a difference. I think the thing that bothers me about the modern multiparts is that there's often one or two minis in every box that have a very distinct pose for one reason or another. Thinking of the Battle Sisters box, there's a Simulacrum model and a Heavy Weapons model and they're both specifically posed for carrying that wargear. There's an alternate build for each of those poses, but both of these wind up looking very different to the rest of the squad (holding helmet and aiming with a pistol, holding a grenade in my example). As soon as you've got some duplicates of these models, they become very noticeable in the squads, and that always kind of annoys me a little bit.
Even if you look at the less extremely different posed miniatures - the ones just walking or running or standing with a boltgun - the repeats are less noticeable, but they still kind of catch my eye. I might notice this squad has two of Battle Sister C which may have a different helmet, but are otherwise posed entirely identically. The multipart kits I think made much more 'generic' looking models, but with subtle differences that were a lot more analogue and flowed a bit better in a big squad than the more digital 5 set poses approach.
This is all splitting hairs and none of this actually matters, but it's something in the Great Tedious Plastics Debate that I don't hear too often and you brought this upon yourselves for bringing it up in this video. 😂
😂😂😂 well thanks for commenting, and tbf it’s nice to hear the opinions of others and how the hobby sits with them. Cheers
Peachy
I was on a train running into Glossop once when it stopped at a red signal for about 20 mins. The driver got the go-ahead to go through the signals, but warned the passangers that there would be a couple of loud bangs as we went over the detinators. That didn't prepare most of the travellers for the bangs, as the carriage filled with screams of shock at the noise. I can only assume they weren't listening to the announcement & thoiught we were about to plunge to our deathe off the 100ft viaduct we were crossing 😂
Great chat as always guys
What a killer interview
Awesome show all!.
Loved the model gifts, want to do a butcher/corpse grinder fatboy squad now.
pete's voice is like a warm summer day
Best episode so far 🎉
I like how you get different people from all ends of the hobby. It would be cool if you could get one of the Loremasters on the show, maybe Luetin, or Aborder Prince.
When I kitbash i start by chopping off the arms and head theem go from their and see if I want to cut more parts away or just make new arms
I just tried the squint thing and it works!! hahaha.
Pete the Wargamer is great guide for me for the Silver Tower minis! 😃
Another superb chat with a great guest. Such a great chilled and inspirational vibe in the studio. Really looking forward to those PtW custom Necromunda minis getting painted.
Cheers bud, and I’m super excited to paint up my van Saar dude - Peachy
If you want open hands for marines I recommend the Grey Knight Strike Team box. They have several open left hands and fists becuase their bolters are mounted to their wrist.
Those kitbashes were awesome, I think my favorite was Mac Rib.
Mine too 😍
Wagyu is famous for its high fat content, so it seems like a suitable name for your Corpse Grinder conversion!
Now kitbash a paper standee! 😆
Mac Rib. That’s my contribution to the name suggestions.
All the talk at the end about how they look, Pete totally looks like Peachy's little brother.
You definitely should have Pete as prt of the judging team of your painting competition show. I’d like to see someone make four arm chaos marines.
Childhood memory unlocked: Train detonators!!!
As I look over at my half-dozen 9L Really Useful Boxes full of sprues, I feel a bit better hearing that Pete has 30 boxes full and needs 20 more! (Other boxes are available.)
The Corpse Grinder mini needs to be named something like Pulled Pork.
Another great video guys, and a great guest. As a side note was the kid with all the frankenstein toys in Toy Story based on Peachy-Pete?
Hahaha! Yes we’re both Sid the screwed up kid next door
It’s Pete the wargamer! Awesome. It’d be nice to see Valrak on at some point. Could be a fun chat
We've slid into his DM's, it might be in the works
@@thepaintingphase nice! You're killing it with these interviews! Great stuff
Professor Sir Robert Winston is the scientist with the Tache!
always wanted to know what he looks like. :D. I'd imagine bumping into him at a tournament and then the penny dropping. Next you've got to get Auspex Tactics :)
Pete! what a guy!
Does anybody know which category or the name of the person who did a conversion based on one of Pete’s
Pat you could name your new corpse grinder Prime Rib!
Hell Yeah Wargames Atlantic shoutout!
Excellent
