Exactly, to make a review of trail adv boots in which we cannot see the stiffness of the boot's upper to minimise the chances of fracturing the tibia, the protection of the ankle against sprains or fractures that can occur in a bad support .... is not to talk about the most important things. Often trail adv boots are more apparent than effective and produce a false sense of protection (Sidi Adv 2, Alpinestars Corozal, Forma Adventure etc...).
I have the Corazal. You can indeed walk in it, not sure how far. A mile would be an effort. Very protective for a dual purpose or adventure boat. Dropped my drz in the woods when I hit a log in tall grass. Footpeg went right to my ankle. No injury.
I was ready to purchase adv boots and did a heap of research and trial fittings and ended up saving a little longer and purchased the SIDI adventures. By far hands down the most comfiest boot I’ve ever owned straight out of the box, had no issues with water, the hinged heel not only gives protection but fantastic movement on the bike and let’s you walk around feeling like your not even wearing boots... absolutely love them. Not the cheapest but by far the best and worth the wait to save that little bit longer
Iv got the Forma ADV boots , my last pair last around 100,000kms and 8 years of riding in Rain , Mud , snow , road riding , ADV riding and motocross riding . After my results I don’t think another boot could cut it . Yes and there was a few offs on ADV , Motocross and one on the road ( feet and lower limbs protected)
Purchased Tech 3's for use on my ADV bike, to replace my SMX v2 vented streetbike boots (didn't want to tear them up offroad). They were too stiff and too big for proper shifting on my bike. Ended up getting Falco Adventours instead. Good feel, hard sole for stomping dirt while moving. Worth noting that the version in this video is and older version, and the boot has since been updated with a better sole imo (Purchased 2020). My experience with the falco boot was 1 size down from your vans shoe fit (whole sizes), which for me was a a size 12 boot for a 13 vans canvas shoe.

These Berik All Terrain Adventure Waterproof Motorcycle Boots are really nice looking boots and works fine - until it rains. Drove 2,5 hours in rain and got wet socks. Not so nice - so can't say they are really waterproof... :(
Alright chase, what’s the calf measurement for the Sidi? I tried on a few today and found a couple that had a wider calf and I just wasn’t even snug at all around my calf. I have decent sized calf’s so I figured I’d never have that problem but I was wrong. I love the look and protection of those Sidi’s but would like to know before I order and have to return.
Which boots did you try on? Wes one the video team wears the Adventure 2 Goretex and legs don't get much skinnier than his and he said the velcro is completely overlapped and he still has some wiggle room. - Chase
Rocky Mountain ATV MC I feel like it was the Garnae that had the super big calf but now I can’t remember. I think I’m going with the TCX Drifter and would just love to know what the calf is like on those. I just don’t want to fiddle with ordering and then having to return so anyone you know who has those could give advice. I’m 6’2” with a medium build.
Most ADV boots are pretty warm during the summer because most are made from leather and have a waterproof liner. The Tech 7 from Alpinestars is a pretty popular boot for ADV riding even though it's a motocross boot, and isn't waterproof so it should breath a little better.
ATV rider here. Raptor 700R in the PNW. Waterproof boots are right up my alley as it's very wet in the Seattle area. My issue is that I have 19" calves and wear a size 11. What should I be looking to purchase to keep me dry, protected, and fit well? Thanks for the videos, Chase! A.J.
I do not wear a knee brace. I'm just looking for a solid boot that offers protection from water, provides substantial ankle support, and has some traction for walks off the bike. Thanks for the reply! Tough choice still....
Are the Tech 7 Enduro's any wider at the calf area than the standard Tech 7's? I tried a pair on yesterday, and the plastic guides for the straps struggled to fit properly at the seam of the boot... Very comfortable, though.
One thing that might never occur to some of you is falling down with you monster machine on top of your LEG ....now you MIGHT think you can get the bike off of you or just wiggle out ....but it happened to me yesterday and it was frankly IMPOSSIBLE I tried for EVERYTHING I was worth and could not budge the bike a 1/2 inch even ....I was as trapped as an animal in a game trap! I was going NOWHERE until someone picked the bike up enough to slip my poor mashed out of there! I should post a picture of my leg now ... it is GROSS! You have no idea how painful it is ....and here is the thing! I was not even on my HEAVY twin cylinder bike! I was on my "light" 650 single cylinder bike...."ONLY" 320 lbs ...I THOUGHT "Oh i can just slide my leg out.....WRONG! I had bobbled in a rain rut on a sloped truck trail ...the bike was lying downhill amplifying the strength needed to pick it up....with your leg ALL THE WAY underneath a motorcycle? There just is zero leverage ....try to imagine such a thing...better yet try laying your bike on a grass lawn and then lay down next to it. ...now try from that position to pick it up at all? No leverage, right? MAN if ONLY I had not kept wearing my comfortable army issue "Combat Vehicle" boots! At least maybe it would have been less painful waiting for help? Heavy plastic panels distributing the pointy places that were gouging iright nto my ankle bone and thigh ? These are awesome boots for riding a motorcycle, very comfortable and good to walk in too .... but NOT for CRASHING motorcycles! FOR SURE NOT for being pinned UNDER one! 320 lbs is all she weighs (XR650) ...but the ankle bone was being crushed! another point on the side of my thigh!....DAMN it hurt like HELL! ....AND it was apparently crushing major veins because my leg was throbbing and swelling....it took all night to restore a normal feeling ....I really think I might have suffered serious injury had I laid there longer than I did? Felt like hours but was less than 20 minutes probably maybe ....luckily I did not ride alone yesterday ...I had my own dear brother with me....he was out in front just assuming I was behind him and so did he never noticed until he finally stopped to rest....he waited a while for me to catch up which of course I was not going to EVER catch up ....and then reversed and and came back and saved my sorry ass...I have.never ever been happier to see someone! It was EXCRUCIATING. I was thinking "I WISH I was riding a bmw or something with something substantial hanging off the side! THEN I could just slide my leg out! and probably 99 out of 100 times that would be the case too! BUT what if that BMW cylinder ot crash bar or whatever was on top of your leg?....yeah! right? My thoughts NOW? GOOD boots! A riding partner ...or three! Helmet coms! And if you can swing it? A SAT PHONE! I never checked but Id bet money we had no cell service up in the mountains in the middle of nowhere??? WHAT IF .....I was pinned and my brother had crashed in severe need of medical attention? WHO KNOWS how long it would be until the next person same along? The next day? I'd have lost my leg and my brother his life maybe??
Damn dude you explained the severity of your situation and not only the need for adventure boots or even more substantial mc boots but even other factors of off pavement riding like partners and better communication. Been there, and done that. NEVER again riding offroad in combat boots. I got lucky and my girlfriend was there to pick up the bike a bit so I could wiggle out. My new rule is proper boots offroad (BMW adventure boots), and THROW yourself off the bike when you’re going down. Don’t end up underneath if you can possibly help it.

Yes, when I went to a shop, I could bend Forma Adventure in half, while holding upper part with 2 fingers. My shorter touring boots are tougher
