To insulate the floor, we used rigid foam, which has a high compressive strength, and excellent moisture resistance. Perfect for under the floorboards of our log cabin. We also began to lay the floorboards in the loft. Exciting things are ahead for the cabin build!

I came back today to specifically watch you and your dad work on the cabin together for the last time 😢 I noticed you changed the title to this episode. He was such a great man and I'm so sincerely sorry for your loss. I know you are a man of God and with that we know he is still with you and watching over you and yours forever ❤️

I love how this cabin looks so good, and in such a beautiful place. My grandpa built my aunt a cabin to live in and cut the pines from the land nearby, and as kid's back in 1977, my brother and cousin loved watching him build it. My grandpa built the cabin about a mile from the road, where there was a half acre or more of pines, the rest of the land was for growing corn on 500 acres. My grandpa was in the battle of the bulge, sergeant of an anti tank crew, but worked with the field engineer's blowing up bridge's, and clearing out wooded ares with dynamite to press forward. He learned a lot building thing's in the army. When he built the cabin, it had two floors and a loft. The roof was shingeld, and just re done about seven year's ago. The logs were much bigger than yours, but my aunt, uncle, and cousin lived there full time. I was amazed at the tree's he cut down and built the cabin using and old crane. I can imagine your daughter playing out there like i did with my cousin and brother. The loft was upstairs, and was about like your loft, and was my cousin's room. The cabin is used today by my uncle, and still amazes me today. The cabin has electric and propane hauled in, but the wood stove heat's it up. My grandpa built it without telling anyone, and no one has ever asked about it, even though it has electric running out there, and mail delivery. This build has been a blessing to watch, because it takes me back to a good time in my life, and being amazed as this cabin was built. As kid's you get the fetch it job, but i didn't mind. I hope you and your family have many happy memories in it. I bought the jackery power bank and a solar panel, because i saw you using it through the build, and saw that it was durable. I saw another guy using it for a lot of year round camping with no issue's. I want to get another set, and will use your link. God bless you and yours.

When I saw the floor insulation, I thought "Yes! that will make the wood floors so much more comfortable--especially if Mrs. Outsider has back problems" but then you added supports that will negate the cushioning effect. But it did turn out beautiful and you probably prevented some squeaking by adding supports. I'm looking forward to the next episode.

It’s been a pleasure to see you and your dad bring your vision to life. I recall early on your debate about the whether to have space between the logs or have more room for chinking and the end result for that was amazing. The other thing you do for your subs is allow us to escape the craziness of the world and be reminded that the simple things in life, using the work of our hands to create, is how we were meant to be. Thanks for the privilege of letting us come along. Blessings to you and your family.

Your video editing is is actually a huge deal. When watching similar content on UA-cam I usually find myself skipping through the videos every now and then, bcs it feels slow at some points. With your editing it never feels stale, too slow or boring - which I think is really hard to accomplish when creating relatively short videos of such large projects.

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your father, he was a great man. My father was diagnosed with brain, bone and lung cancer 2 years ago. Your videos came across my UA-cam page one day during one of his treatments that I took him too and we both have enjoyed watching them together when i take him for his treatment. Years ago, when I was a child we too, mostly him, built a cabin for our family. When im out there taking care of the property I can feel his presence even though he isn't healthy enough to come out anymore. I know for me, that cabin will always give me comfort and remember all the good times we had and will continue to have for years to come because of his hard work and determination. Your father will always be with you in that special place! God bless you and your family!

Those little die grinders are nice, I picked up an electric one awhile back and it's been invaluable. The cabin is turning out great 👍👍
