- A quick tutorial on how to change the coolant on a 2016 Kawasaki KX250F or similar dirt bike.
Coolant: 50/50 water/antifreeze mix. 1.2 Liters or 1.3 quarts
Drain plug torque: 7.0 N-m, 62 in-lb.
A very well taught video. This has made it so much easier, thank you!!!
Hey, I did this exactly the same and every time I start it up I have coolant leaking out the overflow tube it’s so much that I don’t think it’s bc it’s too full any idea why
Most likely your radiator cap is not on properly or the seal on the cap is leaking. If there is an air leak at the cap, it won't maintain pressure and it will boil out of the overflow. Or, you could have a head gasket leak blowing air into the system and causing it to overflow.
@@gohobby9934 I had to bleed the air out I let it run with the cap off until the bubbles stop coming up and it was fine
Isn't there supposed to be water added
I'm using a pre-diluted mix. Go to the 1:45 minute mark and you can see the mix I'm using.
@@gohobby9934 I think he means flushing it with distilled water
thank you. this worked on my kx250f 2012
Is it a good bike thinking about getting me one have you had any problems with it?
I like it. No problems yet, but honestly, I have only had it for a little while and I have not ridden it hard. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the big name bikes: Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki, KTM, Husqie, Yamaha...EFI is nice and so is electric start. This bike has EFI, but not electric start.
Nice video. About to go change mine now.
Glad it helped! Do you have this exact same bike?
No way to check it? Just have to change it?
Hi, great video! How usually you change your coolant (in hours) Mine bike is 2017 kx250F
around 50-60 hours
i followed all the steps but when i went to refill the radiator fluid i went out the overflow tube
Do you mean after you started it up? Most likely your radiator cap is not on properly or the seal on the cap is leaking. If there is an air leak at the cap, it won't maintain pressure and it will boil out of the overflow. Or, you could have a head gasket leak blowing air into the system and causing it to overflow.
DO NOT LISTEN TO THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THIS VIDEO. FOLLOW YOUR USER MANUAL, YOU MUUUUUUST REMOVE THE AIR BLEED SCREW FROM THE LEFT SIDE RADIATOR!!!! FOLLOWING THUS METHOD WILL RENDER AIR IN YOUR SYSTEM 150%!!!
Can I just top off my coolant? It looks low.
Yes, but the question is where did the coolant go? It's a sealed system, so there must be a leak.
Thank you! Same exact thing on my 2011 kx250f
