Young Jazz Classics - Grade 3
From Trombone Shorty's acclaimed CD Backatown, here is the hot title cut arranged for big band in a funky medium tempo. With a blend of catchy riffs, solid ensemble passages, and stop-time breaks, this chart exudes a spirited and unmistakable New Orleans swagger.

Just got this piece in jazz band; although I'm the auxiliary player, I still think this is the catchiest piece we've ever played
We played this in my middle school jazz band a few years back and I still almost get emotional listening to it, just because of the memories I made with the people I played this with
This song is my life 🙌🏼😍
kiwi juice same
how is there not a trombone solo in this song?!?!?!
Linus Bates ik when we played it there were 4 trombone solos
We played the trombone melody at the start as a trombone feature
You can transcribe the tenor solo to trombone and it sounds pretty good
I just transcribed the trumpet solo to trombone doesn’t seem too hard
It’s jazz fundamentally so improvise and repeat it again
I’m the bari player. This song is simple for me, but I just love it.
This is groovy! The drums are fun to play, interesting use of brushes to give it a little lighter sound yet still adding a lot
We played this in eighth grade. Great memories.
bass bone for this and I love actually getting to use both triggers
Frozengames same
Excellent we're playing this in our community band great song
awesome, playing it in jazz band :D
Joseph D same, playing it at the Detroit jazz fest, we are the only middle school that got in 😂

Triggered bari has entered the chat WHY THEY GOTTA ADD 42 AT A LOW B REEEEEEEEEEEE
triggered a good bari is not
I played the bari part on alto sax bc I don't own a bari but it was pretty easy and fun
When does trombone shorty come in?? I guess I’ll sub…
Wait.. how do you fall on piano???
I know ima comment necromancer but if by the "fall" on the piano you mean at 2:03. Then that's the notation for a glissando which you do on a piano by just chromatically rising or falling pressing every key. What you may be thinking of is a scoop or a low or higher pitch bend notated by a solid line curving up or down as opposed to a squiggly line. You cant scoop on a piano because you can't bend the pitch of the keys on the fly.
como consigo essa partitura brother..?
uma boa forma de obter essa partitura é adquiri-la através do site oficial da Hal Leonard #não_à_pirataria
What software is this?
There should be
I swear this has the same feel as all eyez on me by tupac
We are playing this in my middle school jazz band I am in 6th grade I am on Euphonium
Euphonium isn't a jazz band instrument and this would be suprising to see in a middle school band
I know the euphonium is not a usual jazz band instrument but they still let me in. We also have an oboe and flute and clarinet so I am not the only unusual jazz instrument player. Our Middle school jazz band was really good last year and we rocked this song along with some other harder ones like Work Song By Nat Adderley arr. by Erik Morales.
So do you play the trombone part?
Probably the Baritone sax part.
Robert Miears I doubt it. Probably the trombone because it's bass clef
me gusta..michy
hold on a minute... "Grade 3"?!?!?!?
but how Jazz Stuff Is almost Always around this Level
I have one question that I can copy it for orchestra in which I play ?
+William Cerier ok. but where can I buy it. In Poland, I can not find it.
jwpepper.com, then search this song. It should show up
I am the same person as davethedude 64 just on a different account lol
I know this is a simpler arrangement for younger players. But man this just has no life! So flat!
