Friends, many people write to me about the spice that I used, I already wrote earlier, in my country there is saffron from flowers, and there is such a spice - ground saffron! But it also comes in two types: red and yellow-orange. This is the kind of spice I used. I asked myself this question and studied whether this happens in different countries, and surprisingly I did not find ground saffron orange almost anywhere except in my country, unfortunately I cannot attach a photo of the package in the comments. Perhaps we are being deceived by spice manufacturers, but this is definitely not turmeric, they differ a little in smell. But, as I wrote earlier, you can use turmeric in this recipe, since we use the spice primarily to give a pleasant color.
Saffron - is a spice derived from the flower of Crocus sativus, commonly known as the "saffron crocus". You did not add saffron. With this amount of vodka it has no alcohol in the end. You can help bananas with some lemon juice before vodka. they should stay more bright.
@@YalalovKitchen in making any tincture it’s essential to use the right sized jar and fill with the alcohol 1/4 inch from the top. It will completely change the flavour and the nutrients you are extracting, it will be far more “banana” and you won’t have the dark brown colour. Make certain to debubble the jar - run a chop stick in to several times to eliminate any air pockets after you pour your alcohol in
@@YalalovKitchen with the amount of alcohol in this, i think it's probably totally stable if kept in the fridge, and also possible if kept at room temp! I have multi-year aged eggnog with both raw eggs and raw dairy products in my fridge at a ratio of roughly 2 parts dairy + eggs to 1.5 parts 40 proof alcohol, and its perfectly safe to drink, because the alcohol prevents any bacteria that sour the milk from being able to form. if you wanted to be totally sure, i think cutting back on the dairy just a little bit and doing closer to 50/50 dairy to alcohol would make it completely shelf stable.

I have made tinctures on green bananas, which also turned out quite well. But I only mixed it with vodka. I haven't mixed anything with rum yet, maybe I'll try in the future.

@YalalovKitchen I am a professional chef with many years of experience and I can assure you 100% that it is not saffron. Saffron is the pistels from a type of crockus , it is the world's most expensive spice . What you have there in that tea spoon would cost into the 1000s . Saffron is not yellow

Use a much smaller jar so the product doesn’t oxidize
Thanks, I'll have to give it a try.

Nice video, thanks
How,long will,it store and keep?
I recommend to use within 7-10 days, because the liquor has dairy products.
You also need to refrigerate the liquor before drinking it.

Isn't the saffron actually turmeric?
Turmeric is fine for this recipe, but I still recommend using saffron
@@YalalovKitchen that looks like tumeric that you used...
@@raviatm I used ground saffron, it really looks like turmeric.
No the are two completely different plants
Saffron is from the crocus flower.
Was the bananas green ripe an what did you add in rum etc

@@YalalovKitchen Please state the % alcohol in the vodka you used? Thanks for the video.
@@SS-pi2yi I used 40% vodka, but you can use stronger, but then the liquor will be stronger.
@@SS-pi2yi I used 40% vodka, and ended up with a liquor strength of about 20%.
this needs to be in cataclysm dark days ahead... man...
adding some C-vitamin would prevent discoloring the bananas.
Will need to try, thanks
How much alcohol volume?
I took 400 milliliters of vodka, which made 700 milliliters of liquor
I think I know what you mean, it would drop the ABV down to about 20%
@@jameswatters9592 that what I exactly mean and you gave perfect answer
@@cliffordmashimbyi7472 Yes, I didn't quite get you, indeed the volume of alcohol in this liquor is about 20%.
Could you just use the skin it's packed with flavour
you used turmeric. Allot of flavor is in the peels of the banana
Saffron is Red, that looks like Turmeric powder.
End product looks good, sadly my old Igor always say "never combine vodka with milk you animal!". And i have to honour that
😃
5 minutes? Why does it it take 7 days then?
I want my banana liquer NOW! 😂
If you add a lemon to the bananas I might stop them from turning black
What came to mind when I saw all those tattoos:
It was nice of the meth lab to let you use their kitchen.
An interesting thought 😂
I have tattoos front and backside of both my arms and kitchen is way to nice for a meth lab it's at the neighbors!!😂
I don't know what that tea spoon of powder is , but one thing for sure is it is NOT saffron.

Why not just run the bananas and vodka through a blender and then filter it? Instead of waiting 7 days. 🤔🤔
The drink must be infused, this is a mandatory process in the preparation of liqueurs
This isn't really "homemade alcohol" or even making alcohol. It's making a flavored drink and adding vodka.
