Thank you for saving Chris Cooper until last. He is one of the most unappreciated actors we have today. I guess it's because I grew up a hard working Texas boy myself...and suffered some of the same losses. Absolutely loved in The Horse Whisperer. Thank you SO MUCH for including his biography!
The best book ever. I didn't want it to end. Thought I was losing a friend. Didn't think any actor could fill Gus's shoes, but Robert Duval was perfect, as was the entire cast.
Best way to end or start any day. Seeing Jerry Skinner has a new upload!! I have been rewatching the older ones. They never get old and I love being transported back into the time period of every video. This channel is GOLD!
How someone in a professional sense has never picked up on that beautiful narrating voice of yours, is beyond me. You should be narrating some of these movies your self, in the big times. I never get tired of you, and your stories, and look forward to each one. God Bless you, and yours.
Sorry to be offtopic but does any of you know a way to log back into an instagram account..? I somehow forgot the password. I love any tips you can give me
@Jonas Ezequiel I really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and im in the hacking process now. Takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
Thank you for being such a good Lonesome Dove source. In the early 90s I moved from Boston to Austin to help manage a singers career. A chance comment dropped at dinner before taking on the job, was that watching the series and reading the book, were a requirement. Accepting the mutually beneficial offer, one of best developements, for me, was introducing me to one of McMurtry's 'masterpiece' works. If you;re here, I expect you've similar feelings. The well written character of Augustus McCrae became an instant hero. Duvall's (always in my top 5 rotating actor's list) portrayal, instantly replaced my childhood film hero of Errol Flynn's, Robin Hood, to that of Duvall's, Gus McCrae. Even at 73, a true statement I'm not embarassed to make, as every boy, no matter what age, needs a hero. Thanks Jerry. One observation; Anjelica Huston was born in 1951, not '91 as stated in your presentation. Only proof of a viewers 'paying attention to your work, not a critique. Thank's again to all.
Ironically..I just bought 'The Lonesome Dove' yesterday at a Antique Mall. I love your channel & the way you narrate. Thank you for sharing your videos with us.
Mr. Skinner I could listen to you talk every day all day. Your voice is wonderful. Although you need to go back through this video. You said Angelica Houston was born in 1991. I know that can't be true. LOL!
@@JerrySkinner1943 Well I listened closely because I thought the two of us were close in age. I was a technical writer and I'm afraid I can't get past details no matter how long I've been retired! 😊 My brain just goes there!
Lonesome Dove is one of my all time favorite westerns. We lost Robert Urich way too soon, he was great in LD. Also enjoyed Spencer For Hire and when he played Rocky Bleier in Fighting Back in 1980.
So unlike the next 3 generations who had to listen to crap music, and watch mediocre preformances to crappy stories by lousy actors on 100s of channels while we only had 3,4 if you got PBS..
Thank you!! Lonesome Dove is my absolute favorite western film , and you have done a marvelous job covering these wonderful characters! This was excellent and your writing and narration is perfect!! 🌹
One word describes Bob Urich, "CLASS"... Never was this man unhappy during his battle w/ C and didn't flinch an eye when asked to do interviews or guest appearances while undergoing treatments. This man was so bad ass that he even played a Judge on "The Nanny," a comedy, w/out wearing a wig/toupee - Dude went on as is!! God Bless. RIP.
Jerry you are awesome at this BUT.... You should make a western movie you definitely have the voice for one. Mabye the next john wayne........ Thank you Jerry.
Another incredible documentary Jerry, I have been waiting impatiently for this Lonesome Dove part two series to continue. Out of sight my friend. What a wonderful story on this series. I will be watching this again many times. Thank you again, and please keep em coming. Stay well, Jill and Augie Blase, Winter Springs, Florida🤠

You've put a tremendous amount of time and effort into this project. The results are worth your work. Awesome what you do as a UA-cam creator. I appreciate the videos more than I can express. Thanks for sharing
While I have some interest in the other actors you describe in this video, the one who owns my heart is Chris Cooper. I think of him as having a special sort of authenticity. Not surprisingly, my favorite film is Lone Star. Thanks so much for your typical affectionate, respectful commentaries.
I never saw “ Lonesome Dove “ series, but now I feel I should. This was a great history & overview of the tv series & all the incredible people who were involved. My goodness; was it just a coincidence that all these folks were plagued by personal tragedy ? Jerry’s biographies are the beat. 👀

Once about 1993 on Melrose Avenue in L.A., while waiting in a long line for Sunday Brunch, I spotted Robert Urich leaving his car parked in a No Parking Zone directly across the street. I yelled over to him, "Hey Robert! That's a No Parking Area!". He smiled sheepishly, then recognizing that I was no one he knew - skulked off down the sidewalk with a scowl." --- Thanks ever so much Jerry.
Thanks Mr. Skinner, now I'm looking around trying to buy Lonesome Dove (I thought I already had it) because none of my stupid channels have it lol. Great video again.
Years back after my father passed away I found 2 autographed pictures one from Robert Duvall and one from Tommy Lee Jones. Both on the set of Lonesome Dove.
