In this Kashmir guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play all of the riffs to this amazing song off of Led Zeppelin's Physical Graffiti album.
Jimmy Page employs the use of DADGAD tuning to create these ominous and stirring riffs. There really isn't anything else that sounds like it.
Technically there isn't a lot to worry about in this Kashmir guitar lesson. Except for maybe a slight stretch at the beginning of the riff, everything thing else is just repeated without requiring much fret-hand movement at all.
Led Zeppelin had a way of bringing an all new sound to the world with the legendary guitar work of Jimmy Page. He was truly a creative genius who conjured up countless classic riffs and solos. And that my friend, is much more difficult to find than someone who can play a billion notes a minute without mistakes.
The first thing you will need to do is tune your guitar to DADGAD tuning before following along with this Kashmir guitar lesson or the original recording once you have all the parts down.
To do this simply tune your 6th string E down to D. Then tune your 2nd string B down to A followed by tuning your 1st string E down to D.
The strings will then be from the lowest pitched string to the highest pitched string DADGAD.
I hope you guys enjoying learning these riffs. They are simply some of the most unique in all of the classic rock era.

Another great lesson Carl. By chance have you ever heard of a band called The Mars Volta? They have a lot of very interesting and unique guitar parts, but there are no good tabs or tutorials anywhere for their music. I’d love to hear your interpretation of their songs.

LZ is always appreciated; this is a Killer song and probably my favorite. I am going through a huge Dio Black Sabbath era phase, and I think Iommi is just as important as knowing Jimmy Page LZ riffs. I think Iommi's work was his best for Heaven & Hell and Mob Rules albums. Could you please, please, do Children of the Sea, Neon Knights, The Mob Rules, Turn up the Night, Voodoo, Falling off the Edge of the World and After All, this year please Carl. Sabbath is just as important as LZ and Page for any level guitarist. love the Ozzy era of Sabbath, but this is where Iommi smashes it IMO. Ozzy solo era is way far more awesome than his Sabbath and is far greater with Randy, Jake, and Zakk.
I was always an old sabbath guy….then I heard heaven & hell. 😯🤩🥳🤘 that’s a seriously good track.

He uses a Line 6 Helix for his tones, If you got a valve amp you need to stick a power attenuator/soak so you can crank it to get it into distortion but at a lower volume. You usually stick it between the output of the amp and the speaker

It’s not important, but Page plays the descending riff with all upstrokes so you can hear the melody not first 😊
