I live in Greenwich and I knew immediately whereabouts this house/flat conversion place is. It’s a very well known building near Greenwich park. For London - Greenwich is one of the best kept secrets for a reasonable priced area that is quite central, well connected, with plenty of green spaces and fair spaced period flats/houses. If you’re not bothered about not living on a “SW” post code - this is the last frontier of where you can actually buy a reasonable size home in london. But beware - with the growing size of Canary Wharf, and the Elizabeth line now open - it’s ‘affordability’ won’t last long!
Tell me about it! Every time I see articles about Greenwich/Blackheath being the best place to buy for young families I cry on the inside. We’re crossing our fingers to buy in SE, hopefully closer to elephant and castle actually because we’d like to be on a tube line.
To be honest I could never be bothered making big changes to a rental and having to change it all back again when leaving. I would save that for a place I've bought
For London…that is a bargain. I also got a property July 2021 which was 2 bed 2 bath in zone 2 for about £500 cheaper than it would normally be and on a two year lease, so we avoided the recent hikes. Not sure I’d choose the flat with windows you can’t open and separate toilet / bathroom but it’s a gorgeous property in a beautiful London borough.
If a place to rent has lots of competition. How does someone negotiate 400 dollars off the asking price? Wouldn't someone else just pay the asking price?
@@Fivetimesthree in a perfect world sure but If London is like many other cities in the world right now which are facing rental shortages. The asking price is the starting point for negotiations. Good for them for getting a good deal. Would be a miracle now in this current climate.
I love that other parts of the world operate different from the USA. Here, it's all about who has more money. Other places appear to take great consideration into the actual people that they're opening their property to.
Maybe landlord prefers good people over a few more pounds. He might’ve felt very confident that these two will not cause any trouble in a historical building with so many city regulations to adhere by.
This is a very ancient, weird yet nice looking home. My biggest issue is the windows not being able to open and you can't request them to be open.. like that is weird! Fresh air is everything!
We can, we just have to wait for the contractor who does listed building windows to fix them 😩. So far we just have one window that opens in the living room. Everywhere else the in the flat we can open the windows.
Your businesses will make you rich but your investments will make you wealthy. We all deserve to be rich and have financial freedom. I pray everyone here becomes extremely successful.
I was able to get my first luxury flat in Mayfair in June 2020 for almost £450 cheaper than its value and I stayed for two years. When I ended the tenancy two months ago and there were viewings for it, the flat was snapped up within 30hrs despite the price jumping by £450
It's a nice flat but you should buy now, nothing beats having your own space where you can put a toilet where you want and get windows to open! Just bought and I'll never look back. You might think you can stay there for two years, but we've been evicted every year no fault eviction. Landlords will be evicting everyone before the no fault evictions come through to get more rent in this market. Best of luck but honestly just buy now, interest rates don't matter when you're currently paying someone else's mortgage
Her accent is interesting. It actually seems a really good deal for London with all that space. Usually you're in a shoebox. I love historic features too
high utility bills but if they bought, far lower property taxation vs USA as an example. you would only need to pay stamp duty as a one off and then very very low property taxes - usually around 4 figures a year vs. US's more typical 5 figures a year for an equivalent property. i guess it would be a case of what's easier to hold onto long term
