Great video Shawn.. could you do a breakdown of other golfers as well? I'd love to see a breakdown of Gordon Sargents swing and the similarities between this young Bomber swing and yours
Could you do an analysis of Bernhard Langer’s swing? . I started to swivel my head to the rear like he does and have picked up considerable yardage because of the increased turn I get on the backswing.
I remember watching an LPGA player at address, iron shot, put the ball on the inside (or outside- I can’t remember) of the club face. More heal or more toe. I always wondered if that was because during her swing the centre was then more in (or out) of that static position.
A while back I did a sorta Scheffler swing by mistake. The ground was wet that day and as I came down my back foot slipped. I caught my balance and when I hit the ball it went 15-20 yards further than normal. Needless to say that swing is hard to repeat.
Shawn, I love your videos, but most of the pros I watch on TV stand taller in the set up and don't swing the way Scottie does. How is it that the other pros are able to squat during the downswing but Scottie does not?
disagree about trying it. It's part of why he's so accurate. His lateral move reduces clubface rotation. He uses more lateral force than vertical force. Everything is a tradeoff. Lateral moves (like Moe Norman's) tend to be more precise if maybe not as long. Funny, I just posted a video on my channel about The Scheffler shuffle this morning. I think people should try it but then again I think people should try anything. Golf is a game of personal discovery. Maybe he used to play Hockey
1-You want to stay with your direction (blur of club) 2-if you are getting ready to hit the ball at address, you will be too far from it to deliver through it 3-stay with momentum to deliver through the arc-blur; this will engage the legs and get a better squat which will get you down and through a lot better!
That blows my theory then. I thought it was because he has absolutely zero weight on his right leg when he strikes the ball. His natural follow through would be a step through but to avoid ridicule as a kid he trained his right leg to move behind his left. His nemesis is the slinging draw/hook where, because of the severe in to out swing he can't keep his weightless right leg back and he does indeed take a step through.
Yes, but not in the way you are thinking; he and Greg Norman as well as Mark Calcavecchia would snap the legs back as a form of ground forces and getting out of the way to allow the arm-club unit to deliver THROUGH THE BALL instead of releasing at the ball which does keep the face from closing!
I love the way he uses his lower body. I've started focusing on using my hips to swing the club and it's been magical for me
Right and Left the talent in that is wild
Like having a good backhand in tennis!

thank you for the suggestion! 😀👍

It’s all about the dynamic aspect of collecting the ball where it lies and releasing it into the direction you want it to go!

Because Scottie is way too close to the ball! Has no room to squat; if he did, he would be the shank king!
Makes sense. Thank you.
The reason he slides the foot is to stop the right hip firing towards the ball. He's talked about this.
Exactly! Because he would shank it otherwise because he is too close to the ball!

Thank you for taking the time to write! 👍😀
Does this cause TOE HITS if I am standing too close and having to jump away?

thank you very much,Schawn.

Wow, those moves involve an awful lot of perfect timing! You'd HAVE to be doing it your whole life in order to get away with it. 😯
I always thought this move was to keep the club face from closing
