Probably because of the music and different scenes like the part with the large green arms grabbing him. I did grow up in the 90s (born in 1989), so I'm surprised that I never heard of this being a show.
the game came first and then they tried to make a TV show but it only lasted 13 episodes (it obviously failed massively). it was possibly only on in America (i assume Nightmare Ned was made in America, if not then whatever country it was made in), it may not have gone international. the show wasn't anywhere near as weird, bizarre or scary as the game...which I suspect is why it failed...but then even the GAME was meant to be worse than this but they had to tone it down...they changed a lot of the phrases the shadows said. I do know that a lot of complaints were made about the game by parents as it freaked out their kids.

Played this as a kid. It was pretty unnerving, I never figured out how to beat it for some reason though, I went to all the levels, explored everything I could but never reached an ending.

As a kid i felt.... mortified by that squealing pig thing that was hanging from the ceiling. It seemed to me like it was cruel or something and i was so scared idk why.I still think it shouldn't be in the game because kids like me didn't even know what they were looking at. They form all kinds of ideas with that weird image in their minds especially with their wandering imagination.

There's a program called scummVm. Its a free download thing and you're allowed to play old pc games like this along with many more. The only problem is you have to have the disc to actually do it. I just recently bought nightmare ned off of amazon.com. I've played pajama sam 1-3 on this program so in fact yes it does work, im only having a problem working nightmare ned I have no idea why i am but if anyone wants to know more then just reply I'll try to get it working and tell you all.
