I LOVED Mike Evans (not sure why he wanted to go by "Michael" on "Match Game" as he never did so professionally). He was great as Lionel on "All In The Family" and "The Jeffersons". And a lot of people don't know he also created "Good Times"; the Evans' youngest child was given his name. RIP, Mike.
I guess im asking randomly but does someone know of a way to get back into an instagram account? I somehow forgot my password. I love any help you can offer me
And now there are nine! -- Fannie Flagg achieved her third H/H match today, moving her up to the big leader board! Here's the updated leader board for the *9* celebs to have scored at least 3 H/H matches so far, ranked by their current accuracy scores: Orson - 100% (3 wins in 3 attempts). Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). Betty - 52.2% (12 wins in 23 attempts). Charles - 45.7% (16 wins in 35 attempts). Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts). Bert - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts). Richard - 31.8% (48 wins in 151 attempts). Fannie - 30% (3 wins in 10 attempts). Brett - 28% (7 wins in 25 attempts). Here are the celebs who currently have 2 H/H matches (in alphabetical order): Bill Daily 2 out of 2 tries (100%) Ann Elder 2 out of 3 tries (66.7%) Stu Gilliam 2 out of 5 tries (40%) Jack Klugman 2 out of 5 tries (40%) *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 331, excluding the lost/missing episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325. (As per MatchGameProductions, these episodes "are nowhere to be found and also aren't in the Goodson/Todman Library. Sadly, looks like they are lost forever!")
I always thought that Gary was a strange replacement for Charles. I loved him on MASH but not on here. Later on during his stint, it seemed he was just trying way to hard to fit in. And at times, Brett was even annoyed by him. I know a lot of that was in jest, but I'm sure she was thinking that she couldn't wait for Charles to get back. Ironically, I thought the perfect person to temporarily take over for Charles, was McLean Stevenson, Gary's costar from MASH, whom Gary mentioned as a possible choice in the Audience Match but it wasn't up there.
Three of the most iconic and best comedy series of the decade are represented on this panel: All in the Family (Evans), MASH (Burghoff) and Mary Tyler Moore (Bulifant).
Strange how networks work. This guy AND Sherman Hemsley played the male half the Bunker neighbors known as the Jeffersons, then they BOTH get cast in the spin-off!
I would think the definitive answer to the thumb question was pie, as a reference to Little Jack Horner. Also, that Henry VIII question was lousy. I can't think of one creature living underground that would rhyme with "eighth". At least if they said he lives in the jungle, they could say Henry the Ape.
ROFL! Another fine episode! ;0) ROFL! Love ya Gene! ;0) ROFL! Love ya Fannie! ;0) Love the entrances, silliness, voices, acting and the fun Gene! ;0) pants.. hat.. gourd.. cheese.. I know.. ;0) Speaking of that Fannie can we see you answer.. ;0) 8th.. That is what I thought you said.. ;0) mole.. grub.. ground hog the 8th.. I thought like you did and then I thought what I did.. ;0)
Richard had a point about Jason's stupid answers, but, to be fair, Jason got hit with two of the most inane MG questions ever written. (The third of the most inane questions went to his opponent, who managed to get lucky enough to get one match with HER stupid answer.) You'd think by this point the writers could have figured out what makes a good MG question.
Having watched all the episodes in order from #1 (minus the handful that are lost), I have to agree that this was the longest stretch of weak questions to date, the worst being the Yankee Doodle song question. Mike and Fannie said "hat" which was a logical but bland answer to a question for which there was no good answer. Had it been a woman riding the pony, "bra" or "virtue" would have come into play. (Pretty much any question where any female loses blank anywhere leads to virtue/innocence as an answer.) Kudos to Richard for answering "virtue" anyway. The Henry with six wives who lives in the ground was stupid. Okay, I get why they said mole or groundhog (lack of anything else sensible to say) but the whole question doesn't make sense. It's like a joke with no punch line.
Gary doesn't even try to match the contestants most of the time, and this is important to them. Just because Steve Allen was famous for saying "your fern, your dock and your gourd" has nothing to do with Yankee Doodle. He's just bad news and we're in for a long haul.
Absolutely agree. Gary just tried way too hard to be funny. Gary to me is like how Kaye Stevens was to alot of viewers/repliers on here who couldn't stand her. I liked Kaye and I know I'm in the minority. It's going to be a rough ride until Charles gets back.
Sounded like some of them were implying rhinoplasty (nose surgery). I'm always surprised how frank everyone was back then about things like plastic surgery, wigs and toupees.
I am wondering that too. Yeah, Richard does mention something about her nose....but then again, how can you take any of them seriously when talking about the other? They each try to needle one another, which of course is most of the fun in the show. Then again, maybe she did have nose surgery....you might want to compare her appearance to episodes in '73.
@@skipmoto3438 No, what is sad is that thinking that other people's feelings don't matter so you try to be as rude, disrespectful, and hurtful as you please. And be careful who you call moron when it's obvious who you voted for you sack of racist, Republican crap.
This probably won't resonate with the match game crowd but when I first saw Jason, I thought of Bone Thugs n Harmony and then he said he was from Cleveland Ohio. He's definitely related to at least one of them.

@Adam Marcos instablaster :)
Ya don't say that Michael Evans has passed? Because if he was 23 here he'd barely be 70 in 2021? Sadly, only the Good die young. 😲RIP Michael Evans.

Michael Evans was also one of the Creator’s and Writer’s of Good Times. Along with Eric Monte ..who also wrote Cooley High.
Love me some Michael Evans!!!
7:27 Gene and Richard are legends
ah Fannie my southern Love :)
Fannie wore the confederate flag.
This show is so funny
13:25 Ira Skutch accidentally buzzing a match.
Used to Brett not matching.. ;0)

I agree. Gary needs a script to be great.
Gary was one of Charles' former acting students so he might have been picked by Charles.
Good to know, thanks!
I agree completely. I can’t stand him on this show! But he’s a really likable guy otherwise.
I think Rip Taylor would have been a much better and funnier replacement.
Love the fro
But he doesn't seem too bright.
Love it. I wish I had one. Lots of lucky kids in New York City nowadays wear it and it looks great.
I loved the afro
Jason was a cutie!
It's weird to see Gary Burghoff as 'not Radar'.

That Jason was stoned off his head. 🤣🤣🤣
Here we go, 100 + episodes without Charles. 😔 it really tests your endurance, ☺
100+ Really? Noooo!!

Why wouldn't they both get cast in the spin-off? Their characters were the ones being spun off.

I agree with Richard. Jason was witty.

Great impression of Charles by Gary 😅

My first thought for that one was 'hobbit'
That's why Joyce said plum. "He stuck in his thumb & pulled out a plum". I thought her answer was good.
Mac Davis (and Helen Reddy) died yesterday (9-29-20).
I think Rip Taylor would have been a perfect temporary replacement for Charles!

Well, I guess it's safe to say it wasn't breast reduction surgery
I believe it was for a deviated septum or something to do with her sinuses -- something internal, definitely not plastic surgery.
Contestant Jason was really gone.
Was Fannie and Betty ever on here together?
They might have been once but I do not remember what year thiugh
Looks like Michael Jackson
Although it doesn't rhyme perfectly I woulda said Henry the 🐍
Surprised this isn't banned because Fannie has a Rebel Flag on her sweater.
