Welcome to the 3rd episode of our long skirt series! In today's tutorial, I'll be showing you how to make a midi skirt. You can do this with any fabric that you have just follow the steps on how to make a midi skirt! This is very quick and easy to make!

This video is exactly what I need! Can you please help with this question. I need to have 2 side seams ? Did you add 2 inches plus waist measurements to accommodate side seam and zippers seam?
Yes i did. If you want to have two side seams then just add another half inch or 1 inch then cut it on the fold

Yes of course!
Would I have too double fold my fabric to make the two pieces of fabric or would I have to do it again?
Just fold it once and it will give you the whole skirt

After cutting the fabric, and before you do anything else, fuse a strip of interfacing along each seam allowance where the zipper is to go. This will stabilise the area and stop it from stretching.

i folded it diagonally. the length of the skirt depends on your height or how long you want it to be. but if it's the fabric itself I think this was 1.5 yards

Hii one question, when you do the elastic as a waistband you streched it right? Because the elastic measurement and the fabric measurement ain't same So doesn't that make the waistband wrinkle or you ironed it?

I don't really get the beginning of the video. How did you get 2 pieces to sew together? FOr the hip measurement divided by 2, is it the length of the line? SO did you cut the triangle to be the exact length of your hips/2? Please can someone explain/
You fold the fabric into a triangle first. Then measure your hips. ÷ 2 and that measurement is what you'll use. Since your fabric is folded, once you unfold it, it will give you the full measurement of your hips

What measurement should the width of the bottom of the skirt be?
What’s the fabrics dimensions? Bc I have followed every step. I might sound stupid but does this affect my triangle to be slimmer than yours?
I when you show your finish cut you have it clipped. Did you do front and back panel?
No i just folded the fabric in half in a shape of a triangle. Then measured my hips and divided it in half + half an inch seam allowance (this is the first measurement) then measured the distance from my waist to my hips (2nd measurement) the measurement of my waist is not so important since usually the waist of this skirt is a little big thats why we used the elastic as a waistband to make it fit more on our waist. The last measurement is the length of the skirt. This depends of you on how long you want it to be.

If iam starting out. Beginner. I want to make this skirt in green. Please tell me the type of sewing machine I need and what other equipment I need. Please thank you. I really want to save money making clothes myself that fit my body.
I started out making clothes with a mini sewing machine for kids since is cheaper and it's not as complicated as the professional ones. You should get a really thin needle size 7 or 9 for delicate fabrics and go up to thicker needles for heavier fabrics
What’s the length of your zipper?
Its 20" but dont sew it all the way, I cut of the excess
