Piggly Wiggly has been around since 1916 and is a small chain of approximately 500 independently owned grocery stores in located 20 states.
Everytime I hear a story about Flagstaff, I'm reminded that there is a town in America so boring that it's named after a pole...
I actually really like Flagstaff, it;s a cool place
My 1st Husband's dad was teaching in Flagstaff when he was a toddler. A drunk Native American rode up on his horse and took him off their gated front porcg and rode into town. He then took him to a bar and tried to trade him for alcohol. They local police got the Chief to come down to negotiate his release.
As far as boring towns, did you know there is a town in Oregon that is named "Boring?"
When the guy mentioned the PAGAN family @ 12:00 it reminded me of the movie that came out back in the 80s, Dragnet starring Dan Aykroyd and Tom Hanks. This movie is a comedic spoof movie of the '60s detective TV show of the same name. In the movie, there is one main group of bad guys called "PAGANs" Which stands for:
People
Against
Goodness
And
Normalcy

I grew up in a small town. Lake City was our school rivals for sports, high school football in particular. Ted Bundy took his last victim from the middle school (junior high) in Lake City and left her on the property/farm of a family acquaintance. It’s a pretty rural area with lots of farmland.
My dad lived in a small town in the middle of nowhere Mexico. One time a relative of his was chopping wood when a rattlesnake startled him. He hurt himself with the axe on the leg, I still have no idea how he survived as they didn't have access to a hospital. Guy had a knarly scar and died of old age decades ago. I think this took place in the 50s-60s.
Been in and around a couple small towns.
1. My uncle lives in a city called Yoe (pronounced Yo). There’s maybe 700 people in total, and there’s at times wild turkeys 🦃 that have tried to peck at him while driving.
2. Just outside of San Angelo, Texas, there’s so many open spaces (you might run across the occasional house every 5-7 miles). It just looks like one of those spaghetti western movie scenes. Lots of cactus 🌵, hills and mountains 🏔, and more cattle than people.
800 people is not a small town, I went to high school in a town of 260 people. 52 kids in total for the whole school, 12 in my class.
That's a village then, a small town is minimum 500 people
never have bars on your windows, a house up the street burnt down in 1976 with bars on the windows, I still remember the children at the windo trapped by the bars getting burnt alive, 3 children and the mother died that nigt trapped by the bars, the father was at work.
Neghbors had a gang son. He was in a gang and wanted out. They shot up his parents garage. Neghbors have since left but the shoes still hang on the powerline
And that means the kid is dead, right ?

Piggly Wiggly is a thing in Wisconsin so I dunno what is South about that.
Rednecks, and therefore "The South" exist 20 miles outside of Every City in the country. Doesn't matter if it's New York state or New Orleans Louisiana.
