Of note with Assaults: Overstacking on Assaults can be really unfun. As they're so reliable a foe and so good at all-round work that it can be kinda frustrating to players to not have an 'in' to deal with them. Players like feeling smart by using weaknesses against the enemy and if you're running hordes of assaults, it can often feel like there isn't any option other than 'Try to kill the shooty boy at his own speciality'. Which is why mixing NPCs up is important.
More Timestamps if folk are looking for specific tactical advice. Grapple Stronk 0:00 - Intro 1:07 - Ace 2:01 - Aegis 3:04 - Archer 4:05 - Assassin 5:11 - Assault 6:12 - Outro
Remember, everyone, GRAPPLE STRONK. No, seriously, it seems to work against most stuff. Which is why close range meanies like Blackbeard are so dangerous haha
These NPCs are a good way to dip your toes into designing your own, with optional systems and templates available to mix things up. Also those Oh No! memes were perfectly dank. Our narrator is a MechWarrior of culture indeed.
I like the hidden Caliban in the video. B) Jokes aside, this is a good video to help people familiarize themselves with NPCs before encountering them as players or inspiring GMs to use new units!
A squad of ace grunts are super annoying. They don't do much damage but they will require multi shots or hacking to take down. I'd pair these with a VERY scary enemy that the players really SHOULD be paying more attention to, like an elite archer. Assault is good to mess around with templates since they are relatively simple, IMO.
I usually use Assault as grunts to just fill space and give my "actual team" time to close distance. It lets my players kill a few dudes on turn 1 while the real enemies get set up.
Excellent work once again. I love watching your videos. I am really hoping to learn more about RA and Horus. Maybe you could do a lore video or a few on each company. Keep up the great work!
Finally started playing Lancer, first game two of us got pinned down hard by an archer. Can confirm since then if I see an archer on the battlefield it is always my first target. As a GM I can't wait to use them though
Hey, where's all this cool pixel art from? Really liking the Dual-weilding Vlad at 4:39 and the purple Ghengis at 5:43. Also rather pleased with the GRAPPLE STRONK
The sudden GRAPPLE STRONK made me absolutely lose it, but this is such a helpful guide

Ace grunts can also be dealt with using GMS reliable weapons like the Assault Rifle and Pistol.

I found out about Retrograde Minis because of you!!! Thank you so much all these tokens are amazing!
My Goblin nearly got rammed by an Ace after I jammed it. Agility is your friend.

Have you tried reading?
I believe 11dragonkid did say he will be covering each of the main company's background lore sometime in the future.
So... Assassin = Cloaker.
Which means using one as I'd probalbly be forever DM gives me permission to go...
WOOOLOOOOLOOOO

Objection, the Operator was clearly meant to be a miniboss. Nobody can stop the Op!
Where do you find the Stat blocks for these? Or are they more of a general guideline?
It's in the Lancer core rulebook already? If you downloaded the free version, there won't be any NPC stats because that's for the player side

4:46 they are also good to destroy the mech of THAT ONE player who is an as**le
What about my Nelson that goes really fast, like 310ft in a turn fast
Sooo, I notice that you're posting a lot of text from the book. I assume you got permission to do so?
massif press isn't the kind to get upset over this, they're not that dumb.
you know you dont need permission to talk about something right
I did, actually. But I'm still going to keep things vague but not so much that people with the actual paid book could understand it.
Also 11dragonkid is pretty much praised in the official discord by all the creators, so I'm guessing they are okay with his stuff.
