    I buy the $5 big box of salad greens at safeway. The lid doesn't really seal back up right. The salad tended to get damp & go bad or get slimy even though I eat it pretty quickly. Bought a shoe container w lid at $ tree. The salad fits perfect in it & has a lid that snaps on. Put a paper towel in on top & it stays fresher a lot longer

    This video was very helpful. My favorite tips were not labeling everything, buying extra storage supplies, making room for miscellaneous items and the 1 step in 1 step out system. These are all the reasons my previous systems didn't work, now I see and I feel more confident going forward.

    I've had large pantries when all three kids were at home. Now it's just the two of us. Just the same, food in cans esp. go out of date because things are all over the kitchen. I don't even know what I have anymore. This gets it all in one spot, organized and visual to know just what our options for a meal include. Fabulous video! Loved every minute!

    Totally agree with you! I am a youtube organization video junkie lol! I am always looking for new videos/youtubers to watch to fill the gaps of when the youtubers I am subscribed to haven't uploaded haha. And I noticed they all do the same thing, same containers, etc. It is really easy to see who is only organizing their pantry for cosmetic reasons or just to show off on social media. And then you can definitely see who is organizing for practical and realistic reasons. Pinterest is amazing but it also fills our mind with superficial desires. Love that you talked about this!

    • @u4evamine
      @u4evamine 7 років тому +3

      Right! Honestly, the hate the over organized spaces! I've seen some videos where everything is labeled, including the label maker...too much! Plus the amount of money some spend on containers is ridiculous!

    • @jahhnice
      @jahhnice 7 років тому +2

      I cringe when ppl label everything! Like, do you really need to label "pasta" or "cookies"?? I mean, I get it if you have little children who are still learning what things are but i've seen grown women, like you said, that label every little thing and it's just too much lol. But whatever floats your boat right? =P

    This came at the perfect time!! I thought my daughters room was very cluttered with stuff (21 years old). I told her we were decluttering the house. Everything out of the closets, drawers, etc.. And put on the beds and table. Cleaned all surfaces in there and then put away. I gave her six large garbage bags and told her to label donate or garbage if she didn't want it back in her space. Well she filled them, but so did I. I thought I stayed on that pretty good. Naturally I did the bedroom and restroom first so I could sleep. Today I'm tackling the kitchen. Taking a tea break right now and so inspired by your video. I'm ready now and will sleep with peace tonight at an uncluttered organized home. My daughter and I love her bedroom. She had the day off but volunteered to work a shift. Sorry so long but you have given me the inspiration to do my kitchen today. I was so tired from the other work that I really just wanted to put it away without any thought. God sent me your message at just the right time lol☺

    I've had failing pantry systems ad well. You learn as you go what what works. I basicly liked the explaining of do what works for you and you explaining the F-I-F-O which a lot of people may not know. I loved the explanations on getting orginized. I am some what or orginized for the small space I have but do try to make my organization better. Thanks. You were very good in my opinion on explaining it. I have a well stocked pantry but it's small very but keep it neat as I can for limited space I use containers and baskets. Love them and so far works. Thanks again

    FIFO. First in first out. I like how you explain things. Many, many videos don't explain this and don't really have food storage. If you've seen any OF those. I've seen plenty for the heck of it. But like getting ideas. I use containers, baskets and so forth. I worked in a military day care in the kitchen so I have that skill of some organization and fifo and how long to store things in frig and on shelf and food handling. Love how you explain things. Thanks.

GREAT VIDEO.

    Great information! Giving me something to think about. I hate my pantry, and have been dragging my feet about reorganizing. You've inspired me!
    My pantry is so deep in, that we are constantly forgetting about items in there. Don't really know how to tackle it, except drawers. We have one, but it is flimsy. We had an over the door organizer, but because the shelves went almost to the door, the pantry door wouldn't shut properly. My husband ended up hanging it on the laundry room wall where it is utilized much better.
    I really enjoy your videos, your hauls, your DIYs, your organization, everything! I've been inspired many times and especially to think outside the box. 😊☺

    if you dont label how do you know the expiration dates on products?

    • @coupontoprovide
      @coupontoprovide  5 років тому +1

      We are a large family and our kids eat everything. So dates are not a problem for us. Plus we try to be a reduce waste family so we eat everything we buy as it cycles. Maybe a dry erase marker can help with that. Just write it on the lid. Once used erase it and put the new date. It can be easy.

    This lady has the absolute most sensible suggestions I have ever seen.
    Two points:
    - I think that putting the label/tape on the lid is risky because you could accidentally put the lid back on the wrong product. There is at least one case of a lady who sprinkled baking soda instead of powdered sugar on a desert and it was found out only after people tried to eat it at an event. I suggest the chalk board labels I have bought from Amazon on the actual container which you can erase with a wet paper towel and rewrite on it when it dries. I also discreetly write the expiration date e.g. 8/31/18 and know what it is there for.
    - Putting product continually out of its packaging in containers could lead to the bottom portion going stale as you keep refilling it. I do this for baking products and still have this issue so any good suggestions would be appreciated.

    • @coupontoprovide
      @coupontoprovide  6 років тому +1

      S TR For the “stale” product. That’s why I specified using the FIFO method. You don’t refill with new until the old is done. I still have this system exactly how it is in this video and we have not had that issue. But properly implementing the method is very important. Great observations👍🏼🖤

    I purchase most of my spices in bulk from an Indian market (huge savings!) and repackage them in cleaned glass jars. I then cut the label from the empty package and tape it to the jar with clear packing tape.
    This isn't necessary in all instances. But handy when repacking curry vs red pepper, etc.

    • @gordonadams5891
      @gordonadams5891 6 років тому

      I also don't label pasta, nuts, and so on because it's obvious at a glance what these are.

    notice your brown sugar storage when I remove mine from the bag it gets hard what do you do to prevent this? love your small pantry video when my grandson moved out had to make one with supplies, he really like it he loves using spices more than I do, and love the ideal he could place over a closet door but right in the kitchen were he could use it, thanks so much, might be something you could teach storing different food items outside there packaging

    I am so guilty of labeling too specifically! I always label my cereal containers with the specific type of cereal. It really doesn't make much sense as I buy whatever is a good deal so the type varies. One example of working harder, not smarter! 😫

    • @dawngrover2410
      @dawngrover2410 4 роки тому

      I just watched this. I just organized my new home a few months ago, so this was helpful, but way after the fact! Lol I label my cereal as well, but it’s on a chalkboard label that can be erased so it can change when I buy different cereal so the kids know what cereal is available. They can tell me which ones they dislike or I can see that they don’t like it because it’s in a clear container.

    Thank you for all your good tips. My question is -If you put the pastas in containers, how do you know how long to cook them? Different pastas take different amounts of time. I have cut a part of the box with the directions and put it in container, but do you have a better idea?

    • @coupontoprovide
      @coupontoprovide  7 років тому +2

      +Ruth Barton I actually cook by sight so I never the the correct "time". I've never had any issues with mixing pasta styles that are the same type of pasta base. unless a totally different base then I'm sure it's fine. Yes. I keep the instructions to things I'm not sure about on the bottoms or backs of my jars but I figured everyone shows that so I didn't need to cover it in this video. But great question for maybe those that are new to organizing. Tfw💕

    Thanks this was a super helpful video! I'm always watching videos thinking 'do these people just cook the same stuff all the time?' 'where do you put that random thing you buy one time to try that new recipe and you don't know if you're ever gonna buy it again?' and it was so good to see someone talk about that!! :)

      Yes. My cooking style is way different now. I strive for more scratch cooking these days in our new house but the systems stay pretty much the same. That makes me happy because it wasn’t hard to transition the system. Just needed to change the products.

      Luz Posada We converted our downstairs coat closet into a dry food storage closet because it never worked properly for us as a closet. So they are stored in there and go directly into my bins for weekly lunch grab products. I'll put a stations video up soon.

    Love the content! And beautiful pantry! Thanks for the tips! 👌🏼 My only hopefully helpful criticism is lighting. I can't see some of the things in the pantry very clearly either because of too much or too little lighting; so basically the positioning of your light.

    Great video!! I love putting my dry foods in matching canisters. Even though it's the same amount of clutter, it looks a whole lot less cluttered because they all match. Especially when they have to be out in the open because of very limited cupboard space. Plus, at shopping list making time, it's really easy to see what you're running low on. Love your channel!!

    Hi Paloma , I have been Subscribe to your Channel for a couple of years now and I've been busy being a Sahm and all that good stuff and I'm now getting back to binge watching your videos, and I just recently starting making my own videos on YT and curious if you have Any tips on editing and what equipment you use for making your videos ?

    • @coupontoprovide
      @coupontoprovide  7 років тому +1

      Sonya E Carolina awesome!!!! But girl. I just use iMovie on my iPhone and now imovie on my new MacBook Pro. Before that I used and still use movie maker on my computer. Just use what you got and you'll do fine. 💕

    • @sonyaecarolina4595
      @sonyaecarolina4595 7 років тому

      coupontoprovide Awesome I'm using Movie maker too , all the other editing software is so expensive I watch other small channel who always ask for donations so they can travel to YT convention but use expensive editing programs and have expensive equipment. So I'm over confused .

    • @coupontoprovide
      @coupontoprovide  7 років тому

      Sonya E Carolina girl no. Do not ask for donations. That's all bull shit. You can do fine on your own. As long as with every video you try your best to be better, you will get it. Just focus on you and your progress. Write down small issues you may have when editing and try to solve them one at a time.
