Good review. I work with a guy who recently purchased the E-Revo (had it for about 2 months now) and he likes it a lot. I referred him to your channel and he's changing most on his as you did on yours. He's also talking about getting the X-Maxx, but I think, like you, the E-Revo will be his go to RC. I think these size RCs are perfect for various terrain. The other part is the weight if you've got to carry it out of the trails, skatepark, etc. Some parts can be a pain in the ass (I've got a summit which is nearly identical) to repair, but at the end of the day your temples will hurt from the smiles and laughing. I think it's definitely a cool RC. The only thing is I won't be soon buying an E-Revo cause as I've said, I've got the Summit as well as I have the nitro Revo. If I really wanted to, I could convert the Summit into an E-Revo fairly easy. Anyways, the guy I work with is having his servos going weak. I think it was your channel I seen the video telling the difference between duel and single servos. Definitely is more balanced with 2 but there are servos out there with far more torque than both stock servos combined have. I suggested getting a more expensive, quality servo vs 2 cheaper ones.
I just bought a used erevo.has had some small updates. I think once you replace some of the rods and little things like that with better parts. It will be just maintaining it. That is like anything else you would buy and plan on having for any length of time. Thanks for the review. And yes you have to have something more then just a few weeks to do it properly.
Great review, man. Good and honest, and you were able to give it a year. That's some serious time and you're right, it takes more than 30 min to give it a good shakedown. Great stuff, man.
Great review 👍 I completely agree with you about when to do a review. There are so many bad product review on YT for that reason. To be honest I don't really think you had to say much, that smile said it all lol
The new revos come with metal driveshafts and the new beefed up tie rods! I’m fine with replacing the plastic spur gear with metal and getting some servos when mine burn up, not very expensive and after that should last forever
Thanks a lot for your good review. And I have to say. I am so jealous on your living area!! That would be mine dream to live on a place like that in middle of a forest
I just bought a used e-revo, well it was at the Traxxas retail store and they said it was real dirty and nowadays lot of the store guys worked on it and replaced a lot of parts, I was going to buy a new one and one of the guys went to the back and brought this rebuilt one to me and said they would sell it to me for about 1/2 of what a new one would cost, so I bought it, I haven't played with it yet, but after seeing your video, I feel a lot better about my purchase. I put some silver on the wheels, and I put the wheelee bar on it.
I JUST PULLED THE TRIGGER AND GOT ONE. HAS ALL THE UPGRADED TRAXXAS LINK TUBES AND THE OTHER UPGRADES YOU MENTIONED ALREDY. HOPE THOSE ARE BETTER THAN STOCK🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙
My e revo 2.0 didn't hold well at all. I mainly just do big jumps and its just not meant for it. My tires lasted about 2 weeks and I've broken just about every other part. Me and 2 of my buddies all of e revos and we all had the same issues. I sold it for the arrma kraton and I couldn't be happier with that platform. The handling and durability has been amazing. I hope this helps someone not make the same mistake I did.
I am pretty happy i went for the Rustler 4x4 VXL for my first car. Because man, i could not afford that many broken parts, at least not from the start. Who knows in a year. I still like how beastly the E-Revo 2 looks and it's so BIG compared to the Rustler. At any rate, good video! very in depth. Gotta say im really impressed at how well the E-Revo 2 handles, they way it can turn like that :O wow.
I'm getting one anywhere from 3 weeks to 2 months from now then if you want to make the bodies last so much longer gorilla tape the crunch points and it it will be more resistant to cracks and tears, I've learned that from my friends E Revo, his body is destroyed but I learned it from him and used it on my rustler and it last for ever
Thanks for showing a video of it doing turns. How do you make it stop and spin as it's stopping? How do you make it do flips? Do you go full throttle as it's going on the ramp? Or do you stop mid air and press the throttle again? How can I avoid having to replace parts like the servo, push rod, and drive shaft? If I use it the way you did in this video, will I have to replace parts? I don't want an item that requires a lot of maintenance. Where do I get your Venom battery? Will I like the way it drives and turns with the stock parts? Will it still drive ok with the stock springs? Did you change those for aesthetic reasons, or performance reasons?
Thats a lot lol. The spins take some getting a feel for. You will do them differently depending on a lot. Mostly, as you get ready to spin it, turn the wheel, then break hard as the E Revo starts to turn. It doesnt take much of a turn to get it to spin like that. Sometimes you can follow that with a burst of throttle depending on the terrain you are driving on. To flip it, hit the ramp NOT at full throttle. After its off the ramp in the air you can give it a burst of throttle, but dont hold it. With practice you will learn how much to give. The parts will just get damaged in time. Its hard to avoid it. Its a heavy RC with lots of power. Lots of zero to full throttle bursts will do more damage over time. I got my batteries at a local Hobby Shop. These are not sold anymore. I dont recommend the new Venom batteries unless you put new connectors on them. It drives fine on stock springs. I changed mine because I do high jumps.
@@outsourcedrc Thanks. Where can I get ramps like yours? Will they get damaged on any kind of jump, even low ones? Like what about the one where you made it jump from one ramp to the next?
@@nuraman00 I made my ramps. There is a video on my channel showing exactly how I build them. The ramps are tough. I have not broken them yet. I've chipped the edges in some places but nothing too bad.
Thanks for all the great content I just bought a e Revo because of how many good reviews it had. And this video it looks look a nice car hope I enjoy it.
My erevo is my favorite to drive... but if I could only have one it would be my trx6. From .01mph to 25mph it can crawl or blast down trails. . But, having the Capra, trx6, and erevo means I rarely use my trx6. If I want some fast fun I’ll use the erevo... if I want to rock crawl I’ll grab the Capra. The trx6 is basically used for hiking.
I still have the original e-revo, fried one motor and still have not fried the "Not Waterproof" speed controller. It loves to blow rear ends but, is cheap to fix. The Sledge may be my next addition.
I really enjoy my smaller e revo with brushless motor. I have not tried it with Lipo batteries but certainly moves along. Thank you for your informative presentations. Cheers.
That's awesome! I got one last week so far so good nothings broke and did some pretty hard bashing. Alltho my friend got one and it only lasted about 5 mins till the esc blew out from the self righting. Just do not use that feature and it will last a very long time!
12:54 That spin was the smoothest RC maneuver I've ever seen. 😎 One thing I noticed though: The car does seem to have a tad bit too much power, i.e. appears a little unstable, when going in a straight line. Nevermind the fun factor of drifting, how much work is it to actually go straight?
I really like the revo, i started with the 2,5R then replaced the motor with 3.3 and then completely rebuilt it to a 3.3 revo until i transformed it to a brushless but kept the 3.3 body and tires because i think they look cool and gives it a monster look. 😃
The E Revo is one of my top ones. That and my Clodbuster. I think the top two, not including my Clodbuster, is my E Revo 2.0 and my Typhon 6s. They are the ones I have the most fun with
Great Review. Im new in the hobby and im looking to buy my first RC. I dont know if I will stay in the hobby but I definitely want to own a good quality RC.....therefore ur review was a spot on. I was between Arrma Felony and E revo 2.0......but I think I ll go for the 2nd one.
Really nice review mate, so authentic see you driving and hearing how you enjoy it! Got mine 2 weeks ago and loving it too. Greeting from Germany! PS: How about some rubber edge protection parts for your "landing ramp" :-)
You know, I bought a fan for it and never put it on because mine has never over heated. I think people put the higher end pinion in it and drive it in grass over heating it. I'm not sure though.
What ride times do you get and what batteries are you using. I'm getting 16 minutes average but not babying the throttle and doing some short top end runs too. Is this normal for a revo 2.0? I see so many peeps getting 30+ minutes.
hm, I'm running mine with 2 4200mAh batteries on grass and I get way over 40 minutes with average of around 1/3max throttle, often going almost flat out
People love to hate who is ever at the top. Whether its the President (of anything), a number one sports team (whos won too many damn championships), the most popular coffee chain...etc. Thats where I think alot of Traxxas hate comes from. Its a perfectly natural "root for the underdog" "king of the hill" mentality. They make GREAT, if not the best RC's, and have been as long as anybody. They are number one for a reason, lets not forget.
do you use 50/50 or 70/30 neutral throttle? I love 70/30 on the slash 4x4 and rustler vxl but when I tried it with my new revo the brakes were so grabby I was afraid I might front flip it at speed. I think I need to figure out the traxxas link app so I can reduce the default braking percent. edit to add: try putting some sort of pvc tubing cut in half at the top for a coping. u could probably find some sort of roof edging or flashing to put some edges on the sides as well to protect the wood edges.
I just got an E Revo 2.0 about a month ago. I absolutely love it and it's a beast. I am noticing that some of the grease is leaking out between the right rear drive cup and bulkhead every time I run it. Has anybody else had that happen and if so what's the best way to correct it? I took the rear end apart and can see it's just a bearing there and am wondering if the bearing isn't sealing to the inside wall of the bulkhead. It looks like there's no seals there.
@@outsourcedrc Thank you for replying and I really appreciate it. I've watched lots of your videos and they're great. I have subscribed to your channel. I'd like to build some ramps like you did and have some real fun jumping the E Revo 2.0. I took the rear end apart and it looked like there was some light grease inside the bulkhead. I didn't look to close at the differential and just left it there assuming that the grease in the bulkhead is what was leaking out. I'll take it apart again and take a closer look at the differential. It seemed like that grease in the bulkhead was some how getting around the bearing and on the outside of the bulkhead housing around the cup only on the right rear. The other three axles are dry and I can see that blue rubber seal on the bearings right behind the cups on the other three axles.
Well said! Ive had mine for about the same time frame and have only broken the wing mount. Havent had any issues with the shocks or pushrods, but i run a pretty extreme shock setup thats about to get even beefier, lol. Yeah, my handling has suffered because of it but eh, thats why ive got a second set of shocks for crawling, lol. I have swapped out the power system to a 2000kv motor and max8 esc, not due to failure of the stock power system, but something thatll be better suited to the weight of the batteries i run.
Part of my backyard is decent sized, but it's not a huge one like the one you showed. There is about 30-35 feet of space, though, in one stretch. Will a 11.1 V 5000 mAh battery be too much power, and will it go too fast? If so, will a 7.6 V 7600 mAh battery be better?
Personally, I'd go with the better batteries. If you take it somewhere else to drive it, you will wish you had them. you can always put the E Revo in training mode to reduce its power.
I am about to purchase my first serious RC. Love the looks of Erevo but still teared between Erevo 2.0 and Kraton V4. I have a local Traxxas dealer within 15min reach with all the parts on stock. On the other hand we don't have Arrma dealer in our country so I need to order everything online. Is the Erevo really that bad as I hear? Servos, suspension... On the other hand Kraton has a weak body and stock radio sucks big time and needs to be replaced. I get Kraton for 550eur (+150 for new radio), Erevo for 680eur (+ ?? for the upgrades). What should I take?
After all your upgrades, and now that you are satisfied with the Erevo, what was the price for the car in all? Like the batteries, servos, straps and everything? Around $850ish? $900?
Amazing review! How long does the battery last when you do this type of driving? Also what battery are you using? This review is still helpful nearly 5 years later!
@@outsourcedrc i did! You're awesome! I wanna find your house to drive on that gravel road after i but my second hand eRevo tomorrow:) kidding, I'm in Canada: p
Great video. Total novice here and wanted to send you a question but don't see how to here. I got a E Revo V1 for free sans batteries and charger. I got the 3s Lipo batteries and charger from Traxxas as I didn't want to start soldering on new connectors etc. Don't know the history of this car and how it was taken car of but the local hobby shop said it looks in great shape. I've run it twice and I love it! Alas I broke a shock end (replaced already) and have the shock rebuild kit ready to go in. Traxxas suggested 60w oil over the stock so I'll start there. Wondering what upgrades or major service (thinking of checking the diffs just to be sure they are full and in good condition) you think I should look at or make? Sadly also the original Mamba Monster speed controller has died. Traxxas offering warranty upgrade to the VXL 6 or I called Castle Creations and they also offered a out of warranty replacement. Thinking of going with Castle due to the 1 year warranty over the Traxxas 30 days. Sorry for the long comment.
Its cool. I have a V1 E Revo as well. I blow through Diffs on it. I've considered seeing if I could swap out the diffs for the 2.0 diffs. I also run MIP steel axles in the front. I find the Diffs last longer if I run plastic axles in the rear.
@@outsourcedrc Thanks so much for the reply. I guess I'll just wait till I break the stock front axles before upgrading. As far as the diff's well I will see how they last for me. Not planning on bashing as much as just flat runs and some easy jumps etc. Your videos are great and very well done, love the enthusiasm!
Do you have any tips on keeping rod ends from pulling out/breaking? Just got my E-Revo today and I can already notice a bit of angle starting in the rear wheels.
I gave up trying. I just keep a bag of push rod ends in my tool box. Its rare I need them. If you mean shock ends, I have a video talking about limiting straps that solve that.
Outsourced RC yeah I’m definitely doing the limiting straps, they seem like a must! I’ll stick up on rods and rod ends! Thanks for always responding man!
Surprised you like the clodbuster best. It’s nostalgic for sure. Had one in the 80s as a kid but lets face it, it doesn’t perform well at all. Slow and clumsy but it is a looker. I may have to pick up a kit soon. Miss it. Would be a great addition to my small fleet.
"The stock servos didn't last that long at all...but that is fine" Like your reviews, just started to watch but this line got me. At this price range I don't think it is ok, that they did not last long. Yes, I know how this is, I - as well many other people - get out the stock servo/esc etc. from any rig and replace with a better one; but then agan, at this price range, this is not cool at all. Eastern-Europe so, money is an issue. Oc it is my "problem", but it was sad to hear this.
I believe this is because the servos are fighting each other out of the box. Seems to be a common issue with the factory build. I think if you align the servos together yourself at the start it shouldn't be a problem
Checked and set up my servos out of the box. I'm on my 6th full run and they are still running strong. I recomend to check the stering servo set up out of the box on any RC, not just this one.
Because of your detailed videos & review of the E-REVO 2.0, I've purchased it. I've had it for a little over a week now & it is so freaking fun.

Man, you are making me REALLY want one of these!
It’s still my favorite RC. You should get one!
@@outsourcedrc If only I had the money😢
Yes nice review this is a very fun rc i love mine thanks for posting.
Mine too!!
I agree with you the e Revo 2.0 is the best rc car ever
I bought one a year ago and spent way to much on bling now cant bring myself to beat it up.....its so beautiful lol
Nothing wrong with that! Just look at my Clodbuster and SMT10.
@@outsourcedrc LOL right I do beat my Kraton up pretty bad though! :) great video bud!
Great video. I had the choice of this or the maxx. Even though the maxx is more durable, the e revo is the more capable and fun.
I agree.
Out of all the RC s ive reviewed i also agree that the E REVO 2.0 is handsdown the absolute best machine on the market nowdays period !!!
Happy Birthday E-Revo 2.0!!!
In the end buy what brings you the biggest smile, for me it was the kraton.
Great video brotha. That thing handles like a champion. I bought the MAXX and Rustler 4x4 vxl and this one's next
Man, the E Revo is Awesome!
Just purchased a Maxx v2 and E Revo 2.0 they’re awesome.
Which one is your favorite that you see keeping?
We just got our first e revo 2.0 and are having a blast
Steering servos going haywire already....
@@workhardplayharder4589 Yep. Thats why everyone replaces them.
Let’s be honest, best vid ever no doubt
I want to see an 8S E REVO 6TH Scale 70+ MPH with the Light Kit already installed on it with the same Chasey style as this one ! I would LOVE it !
An 8s E Revo the size of the Arrma 8s rigs would rock. I'm sure Traxxas has thought of it. I wonder if they are working on it.
i'm also really happy with mine!
I’ve had mine for 2 weeks did some upgrades and I love it!
You should totally do a 2019 rc collection video!
I have a 1st generation revo it still kicks ass only replaced the spur gear still stock
Cheers.
Really you're missing out a lot try that little monster on Lipo it will come alive.
@@lilnash7 Thank you for your reply . I just might try that. Cheers.
@@kiwiforever3604 all good.
I watched the video you made on how to build that ramp your using, my daughter and I built it and it works great thanks for the DIY
Thats fantastic. I'm glad it helped you.
Great review. I sold mine a while ago but I almost want to buy one again was thinking about a roller. I love the sound of the erevo also!
Thank you for this great review !
Love the E-Revo...just wish it had ground clearance comparable to the nitro model.
That's awesome! I got one last week so far so good nothings broke and did some pretty hard bashing. Alltho my friend got one and it only lasted about 5 mins till the esc blew out from the self righting. Just do not use that feature and it will last a very long time!
The self righting will also blow your tires. Learned that lesson the hard way 2 tires ripped in half right away.
Awesome review bro very honest and respectful 💪🏻
The body’s are very impressive! Put alittle tape inside the body and do the body washers and you will get along time out of the body!
Use gorilla tape to make the body stonger
12:54 That spin was the smoothest RC maneuver I've ever seen. 😎 One thing I noticed though: The car does seem to have a tad bit too much power, i.e. appears a little unstable, when going in a straight line. Nevermind the fun factor of drifting, how much work is it to actually go straight?
It stays straight. It has the TSM on it. When you turn the TSM off, it can get wild.
I really like the revo, i started with the 2,5R then replaced the motor with 3.3 and then completely rebuilt it to a 3.3 revo until i transformed it to a brushless but kept the 3.3 body and tires because i think they look cool and gives it a monster look. 😃
Hi l am just getting in to the RC world 🌎l have been flying drone for years looking for the perfect rc truck 🚚 thank you for all your help Eddie 😊
"I broke this, that, this, and 10 other things but other than that it's pretty solid" 😂😂😂
Once you get it built up, Its fantastic!
Garuntee you this guy doesn’t even have a rc car period lol weirdo
Now that’s you have had a bunch of time with all your vehicles... which one is your favorite and if you could only have 2 what would they be?
The E Revo is one of my top ones. That and my Clodbuster. I think the top two, not including my Clodbuster, is my E Revo 2.0 and my Typhon 6s. They are the ones I have the most fun with
Great Review. Im new in the hobby and im looking to buy my first RC. I dont know if I will stay in the hobby but I definitely want to own a good quality RC.....therefore ur review was a spot on. I was between Arrma Felony and E revo 2.0......but I think I ll go for the 2nd one.
Thats awesome! Remember, these things have a pretty good resale value or you can always just set it aside and pick it up later.
@@outsourcedrc Good to know, although I dont like selling staff like that....unless they are crap :p
Is this still your go-to and the one you'd recommend in late 2022? Is the Rustler a good 2nd choice if I wanted something a little smaller, lighter?
I Love The E-Revo 2.0!
It’s just really Fun!
Nice review bud..Hard to believe there is so much hate out there for traxxas and this truck
🤷♂️
thanks. I dont know, I like Traxxas.
Just got one and it’s a new ballgame coming from a senton 3s... this car is heavy and just puts down the power with the stock tires.
Right? I love this thing!
Really nice review mate, so authentic see you driving and hearing how you enjoy it! Got mine 2 weeks ago and loving it too. Greeting from Germany!
PS: How about some rubber edge protection parts for your "landing ramp" :-)
Thanks. Not a bad Idea
Man siehts ihm echt an... Er strahlt wie ein Kind zu Weihnachten. Schön anzusehen, dass jemand so viel Spaß dabei hat. :)
Hey I have a question about e revo does the motor get pretty hot or do you need a fan for more cooling? Thanks
You know, I bought a fan for it and never put it on because mine has never over heated. I think people put the higher end pinion in it and drive it in grass over heating it. I'm not sure though.
Love the video!! Would you happen to have the specs on your ramps? I’d like to build some just like yours.
What ride times do you get and what batteries are you using. I'm getting 16 minutes average but not babying the throttle and doing some short top end runs too. Is this normal for a revo 2.0? I see so many peeps getting 30+ minutes.
hm, I'm running mine with 2 4200mAh batteries on grass and I get way over 40 minutes with average of around 1/3max throttle, often going almost flat out
What is your favorite all time? Or maybe a top 5. Dont have a y traxxas but like the looks of them for sure
The Clodbuster, and the E Revo 2.0 are my top 2. I'm not sure about a top 5.
Give some thicker shock oil a try instead of changing the spring rates. It can help bounce back and slow the compression on landing.
They are number one for a reason, lets not forget.
im gonna say its just the price of them. 300 for a brushed 4x4 rustler is crazy.
What mods did you need to do to get it reliable? My x maxx and maxx are darn near unbreakable!
Servos, Aluminum rodends for the push rods. Limiting straps on the rear. Thats pretty much it.
Whould you recommended the e revo or xmaxx? To just drive it in grass? Not brashing at all, just drive it in soccer fields etc?
Sounds like the XMaxx may be the way to go if you have room for it. The e Revo is quicker and is more nimble. I personally like it more.
do you use 50/50 or 70/30 neutral throttle? I love 70/30 on the slash 4x4 and rustler vxl but when I tried it with my new revo the brakes were so grabby I was afraid I might front flip it at speed. I think I need to figure out the traxxas link app so I can reduce the default braking percent.
edit to add: try putting some sort of pvc tubing cut in half at the top for a coping. u could probably find some sort of roof edging or flashing to put some edges on the sides as well to protect the wood edges.
I use 50/50.
You should post the plans you used for making your ramps. I like the geometry of that kicker!
Is it coming out of the diff? you may have a leak in the diff.
I'd get the E Revo 2.0. You just need to get the limiting straps and be ready to replace the servos. Other than that, mine is solid. I love mine.
@@outsourcedrc thanks mate appreciated!
What length limiting straps, and what savoc's do you use. Have you given up on the all aluminum tie rods?
I have a video on both the limiting straps and servos I use. Use 90mm straps so you dont have to use the red piece I have. My servos are 1256
After all your upgrades, and now that you are satisfied with the Erevo, what was the price for the car in all? Like the batteries, servos, straps and everything? Around $850ish? $900?
yeah somewhere around there. I love the E-Revo, but honestly I think the Maxx, while not as fun, is better to own.
@@outsourcedrc Ok, thank you so much! I will look into the Maxx. :)
Amazing review! How long does the battery last when you do this type of driving? Also what battery are you using? This review is still helpful nearly 5 years later!
I am thinking about buying the e revo 2.0 but I am wondering what I should buy for is out of the box?
Just limiting straps and the rear brace. That's it until the servos go.
Great review brought one a week ago sold my clodzilla to fund it and very happy so far and. I still have an og clod but don't drive it much
So you answered the question here, erevo over rusty, how about maxx or erevo2.0?
Depends on the person. The Maxx is easier to own, but the E Revo is more fun.
@@outsourcedrc easier to own maxx because??
Chandy Ab I have a video where I compare the two. It’s one of my more recent ones. You should check it out! I explain it there.
@@outsourcedrc Sorry I forgot to reply, thanks for the opinions, loved the revo/maxx comparison
@@jamescross3740 Thanks!
Did not even run one charge of the battery through my new erevo 2.0 and the esc went out on me.got my car now but waiting for a replacement esc
Awe that sucks. Traxxas may replace that for you for free.
Thank you for the review
Do you have any tips on keeping rod ends from pulling out/breaking? Just got my E-Revo today and I can already notice a bit of angle starting in the rear wheels.
I gave up trying. I just keep a bag of push rod ends in my tool box. Its rare I need them. If you mean shock ends, I have a video talking about limiting straps that solve that.
Outsourced RC yeah I’m definitely doing the limiting straps, they seem like a must! I’ll stick up on rods and rod ends! Thanks for always responding man!
Where did you get the limiting straps from?
Surprised you like the clodbuster best. It’s nostalgic for sure. Had one in the 80s as a kid but lets face it, it doesn’t perform well at all. Slow and clumsy but it is a looker. I may have to pick up a kit soon. Miss it. Would be a great addition to my small fleet.
Well, my Clodbuster is a custom built $1500 truck. I have a single video on here with it.
Great review!!! I Love my Erevo too!!!
i got 23 rc cars and i think i will get the e-revo 2.0 soon
Do a 3 year review of the e revo, Id like to hear your overall opinion now that we’ve gotten the toe links and other issues fixed 😁
"The stock servos didn't last that long at all...but that is fine"
Like your reviews, just started to watch but this line got me.
