    The audio in this video was recorded with in-ear binaural microphones. If you wear headphones, your mind won't be blown, but it will go, "woah, that's cool."

    Here on TheTopher, I'm known for putting a camera on my face and driving cars. Whether it's about any of my personal cars or reviews on weekly press vehicles, the goal is to give you an idea of what a certain car is like to drive or live with. Most of my videos are filmed in POV, with my clothes on, and (for like the 5th time) with in-ear binaural audio. Which, if I haven't made it clear yet, is why you should wear headphones. Because of the whole "woah" factor. It's there, trust me. Try it, it's pretty nuts. Or don't. As long as you whitelist me on your adblocker I'm okay with whatever you do or don't do with regards to headphone usage. That is all. Oh and I guess you should also probably subscribe. Why are you still reading this, you should be watching the video. With headphones! Hah, had to sneak that in there one more time. Later!

    Not sure how I missed this video until now. This is one of the better and more informative review/comparison of the tS. Good to know that there is real substance in the tS model and not just marketing fluff. I'm surprised the tS made that much of a discernable difference. Isn't your BRZ also putting out more power as well with the headers and all? But there is still a 1 second gap? I can only think that the limiting factor here were the tires as the tS had fresher, higher grip tires than the 4 year old ones on your car. If that is the case, then good/better tires (and to some extend, aero) does make enough difference to actually even cover power differences. Wow.

      That’s the nice thing about this car vs street racers. I already do it in my mustang. It’s embarassing when Zs etc even BRZs pull up and then go 10mph around a basic curve jumping into your lane the whole time lol.

    TS is the greatest tool out there to learn aggressive RWD driving dynamics, I love the rotation it gets out of a perfectly timed hard trail brake! Heck toss a set of crap rubber on it if you want "fun" times and back to a sticky tire if you want lap times. Did you guys have the wing adjusted to the aggressive angle its hard to tell.

    My cousin bought the ts. In terms of power the ts is similar to the brz/86 2017+ thanks to the new red manifold which added a little bit of more torque. But the stock brz 2017 will not stand a chance agaisnt the ts you will still need a header and a tune.

    • @TheTopher
      @TheTopher  5 років тому +2

      Treadlife on the Azenis has always been really good. I'm not exactly sure how many miles I have on them, since I'm always swapping wheels/tires on the car. I probably have about 10 track days and a couple autocross events on them over the last few years. They've gotten pretty hard but still grip decently well after some simple green treatment. Right now they're sitting at the wear bars.

    • @Insertsmth
      @Insertsmth 4 роки тому

      It ain't downforce its more grip through weight. (Heavy performance cars use this tactic)
      That trick only works up until your rear tires still have grip and not have worn down due to the excess weight
      (for some light cars, this tactic only works up to 250kph. The more the heavier the car is, the more skill you need to drive it).

    • @TheTopher
      @TheTopher  5 років тому +1

      Power-wise they're very close with my 2014 BRZ just edging ahead with the mods. I pull about a car length in a 3rd gear pull. The tS can carry more speed through the corners though, which ultimately results in the faster lap times and more speed on the straights.

    • @MS-wd7gp
      @MS-wd7gp 5 років тому

      So it is the enterity of the parts in combination what makes the ts so good. Think it would be interesting how good the ts would pull with a tune and a header.

      The biggest difference is the newer cars have a 4.3fd vs the 4.1 that is in the older cars. The 4.3 is a hindrance at my local tracks but helps the car accelerate much quicker. The catted ft86 header he is running is also not very good and provides little gain.

      Start off by learning to be smooth with upshifts, dipping the clutch long (or short) enough for the revs to match so you don't feel the gear change, 1st to 2nd is a big ratio change so takes a while to get fully smooth, then the next year changes get progressively quicker as the ratio difference shortens. Learn clutch control, pulling away with just the clutch so you get a good idea of the biting point. After you've mastered being smooth when upshifting, Start learning to rev match on downshifts, blipping the throttle to match the RPMs of the lower gear. This means there's no lumpy engine braking when you bring the clutch up and it saves the synchros. The next stage is learning to heel and toe, rev matching while under braking. This takes a while to master, keeping constant pressure on the brake while applying enough throttle with the side of your foot to rev match the gear change, but once you learn it, it becomes second nature and it's great fun.
      Hope this helps
