Your are the people who are in the know of raising goats. I can understand why you did it the way you did they are beautiful. Keep up the good work. God bless you from Michigan ❤️
I grew up on a farm (cattle and hogs). I miss a lot of things from farm life. Spring birthing season was always my favorite time. As much fun as it is to bottle feed and have really tame animals you were absolutely correct in what you did, momma’s milk and care is always best. You watched the babies very close. I know you would have intervened if needed. Thank you so much for sharing your farm life it brings back many memories for me.
You see the babies every day. If you thought there was something wrong you would’ve stepped in and fed the babies. There are always people who don’t have farm animals that try and tell you how to raise them. Your doing a great job.🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐
Kevin, of course you did the right thing for the baby goats, and the mama, too. You treated the mama for the flies and you expressed milk from her so her teats weren't engorged, and then the babies were able to nurse from their mother. I loved seeing Leeske chasing off the deer, and Kora following behind. I knew about deer ticks, but I didn't know about that worm that will cause brain damage in the goats. This was a good informational video. Keep up the good work!
A lot of people do not understand that nature usually handles things well. You observed and saw what the problem was, and took care of the problem. Experience is the best teacher, and many do not understand that. Blessings to your family always.
As someone who has never raised goats I didn’t question your choices. I can tell your family knows what they are doing what’s best for your farm. I live in NE OK and flies in general have been awful!! We moved out chicks to their coop 2 weeks ago and within a week we had a swarm of flies. I can tell you take good care of your animal and they look happy and healthy.
Way to go Leeske and Cora good job. People not everyone has time to set and bottle feed kids. The kids learn better when they are Dame raised. I’m a city girl but I learn vicariously through homesteaders here on UA-cam.
Kevin, it was so cool to watch the LGD and the deer in your pasture and how they work together to alleviate the predator and/or intruder on the property. How dare someone question your leadership or know how in regards to your property and the care of your livestock and land. You should know the care of your animals. Like I’ve said before, you study the breed and make of the animals and know what they need. Love you folks. thank you for all you do. 💕🙏🏻🙋🏼♀️
As an old retired farmer, I really appreciate how much farm sense you give to people watching! You sound like me talking to my 4-H kids. I like how you don't pull your punches but still tell it like it is in a very nice way. Good Work!!! Good information!
Hello Kevin. Seriously people? Stop questioning everything they do. They have been farming for a long time . Love watching the dogs do their job. Take care.
@@cheongyei questions are one thing....telling someone else how to care for their farm is quite different. And HH gets way too many of those. Some people don't know any better. Also, there's more than one way to get the same results. Kevin is correct, if he bottle feed, he would have to continue until it's time to be weened. Something I would do, but only when it's a must. Because these baby goats like to eat more than one time a day.
@@cheongyei I'm sure most of the people that disagree with the way Kevin and Rachael are do things around their farm regarding there livestock have no experience and their emotions of thinking the babies are starving are getting in the way of real life on a farm. @@cliffords.8341 Cliff, when you say you are sure about most people who disagree, it is clear that you have no meaningful way to know what you are claiming to be sure of. Your claim of certainty makes me very skeptical. I think you are just guessing.

I wouldn't question them either because I'm not a farmer & I watch the channel to learn stuff. I don't have any knowledge on the matter, so I would defer to their experience. I'm sure they wouldn't let their valuable livestock just die for no reason.

I agree 100% with how you treat and treated your goats! You definitely know what you are doing and what is best for them. You talked about getting the overproduction milk out so the babies could get there mouths on her teets. They are doing well because you guys did the right things to help out. And Leeske and now Cora do a great job of protecting the herd! Continued best wishes and prayers!!!
Great explanation Kevin on how the momma's know their babies and how you keep it natural. That makes so much sense. Glad they are doing so well. I completely agree, that you want to intervene as little as possible to keep you goat's natural instincts strong, so taking a baby to a bottle is probably not the first step. Milking out momma and spraying her was the best solution. Good to know you have 24 solid hours to get that colostrum into them.
I am glad Kevin explained to all those people who dont real ize How Experienced You both care . Please don't let people that are truly being ignorant or rude get under your skin. I know there are some people who have true questions about farming..... Kevin you and Rachel are great fun loving easy going and are delightful to watch.....keep up the good work with your farm and family.👍😁💚💛💙
Kudos to Kevin and Rachael, they know what to do, Mother nature is Mother nature. U guys are doing a good job with all the animals on ur farm. As always God bless stay safe until the next video ❤️ 😍
Yes, I believe you guys know what you’re doing or else you wouldn’t have such nice looking health goats. I was raised on a sheep farm when I was little. Not really old enough to appreciate it. But my mom and dad knew about the animals. We had a late cold snowy spring. We had a set of twins born and not sure if the mom rejected them or if it was just too cold. My mom brought them in and warmed them on the oven door. That same spring she brought in a litter of tiny baby pigs and kept them in our bathroom tub to get them warm. They probably didn’t stay long. I was really too young to remember much but they sure were cute. Love watching the dogs in action.
You absolutely handled it right, 5his is your livelihood and passion a lot of people probably haven’t even seen a real goat and many that have have only seen them at a petting zoo. I have been around goats a few times but not enough to know anything about their care. I was worried about poor mamas engorged teets and her being in pain and wanted you to do something but know you would if you thought you needed to. Human intervention isn’t always needed and often times the worst thing for the animals. You take excellent care of your animals, better than many I’ve seen on this platform!
It was awesome to see Leeske & Kora go after that deer! Y’all know what your doing when it comes to raising goats. I’m not sure why people are questioning that.🙄 Anyway, sending lots of love, Doc 💕
Kevin ~ I do agree with how you and Rachel handle your goats. There is wisdom and, for your farm, your way is working. There is proof in what you do and when there is a question that shows up several times, you tend to address it politely from the Hidden Heights view point. If someone is out of line, you express your point of view and let it go. Stand strong, Kevin. I'm not alone in my respect for you and Rachel. God bless you and your family. Prayers, as well. 👏☺️☝️🤗🙏💜
I’m sure some of those people were asking because they aren’t farm people and they were just concerned. Your channel is a fun place to watch and learn :) unfortunately there aren’t feelings that come across messages and so we need to have grace:) Glad to see the babies and mommy are doing great:) You have to do what you do on your farm and that’s ok again we are learning from you:) tfs stay safe and God Bless:)
I mean, you helped the mama right off getting her teets down so the babies could nurse and they did. You did the right thing and all was good in the time line you said needed to happen. You and Rachel are really good with all your livestock. Kora is learning fast from Leeske. You can tell how young she is with wanting so much attention. Is Mojo getting along with the Emus yet?
Thank you for answering the questions. I do most certainly agree with how you handled that. I was raised on a farm and had goats, sheep pigs and cows. They need to be with their momma’s. We had sheep graze in our land snd when they had a baby that the mother refused, the shepherds would bring that lamb to my mom to bottle feed. It was a lot of work, but it was also highlights of my childhood. You are doing a fantastic job with your animals. I love watching you. I had never seen LGD on a farm. Only the shepherds dogs who protected their sheep. Thank you. Love from Hanford - Central California. I’m a 73 yr old grandma raised in 4-H
I can not believe that there were people that were upset because you weren't bottle feeding those kids! Actually, I guess I can believe there are people like that. 🙄 The BEST thing for any baby animal is their mother. It irritates me to no end when I see people interfering and ending up doing more harm, when there is no need. I have one dairy goat who had twins and has large teats. The only thing I did was watch closely, make sure they could latch on, gave a little assistance at the beginning, and watch her udder to make sure she was being nursed on both sides. They did tend to favor one side over the other, but she is my DAIRY goat so I milked that side. I do not do the same for my Kikos. I watch, to make sure there are no problems, but rarely do I have to do anything for the Kikos.
I think you guys are doing a great job of raising your goats and caring for your animals! Don't let anyone discourage what works for your farm. Good job!
You asked for comments, so here you are: You did exactly right in all respects. And you are the only ones who are supposed to make decisions for what is best for your farm and your animals! But is was good to explain your reasoning more fully. Lots of people don't know.all the details and implications related to the issues. Including me. So thanks for sharing your thoughts and the backgrounds for your handling of the baby goats. I love how you work with your farm. Both the good and the difficulties as well.
Of course you did the right thing, mama needed a little help from you with the flies etc. but she soon settled down to caring for her babies. You do a great job with all your animals, they're all happy n healthy. Hope you are able to remove the predators asap. 😊🏴
You definitely done the right thing letting the mama goat take care of her babies. You done your job getting them in the barn and spraying for flies so mama could stand still for them. You know what you are doing keep up the good work and keep making videos, I watch every one of them. Love you two.
I’m very glad that you let nature take its course with the baby goats. You were watching them closely & would have stepped in if needed. Great job!!! The dogs are coming along so well.
Yes, I agree with the way you handled the baby goats. I know you both know a ton more about raising goats than me. Happy I got to see Leeski and Kara doing their job.🥰🥰
I think you handled it well. The mommas milk is always better and healthier for the babies. You 2 would never let anything bad happen to any of your animals. You took care of the flies. Just because we didn't see it, doesn't mean you didn't. Keep sharing your adventures with all your babies. Leeske, Cora and MOJO are the sweetest puppies. Wtg Leeske and Cora getting after that deer. Thank you
Yes, you have the years of experience and we don't They are doing great and nature has a way of taking care of its own. God Bless your family and thanks again for sharing.
Doesn’t matter what we think about how you handled the baby goat situation. What matters is that you have the experience and know what to do. Your explanation was very interesting and informative. Thanks for explaining and educating us. Love watching Keeski and Cora when they do their job. 🥰👍🏻🙏
I agree with you. If you rush in and take the kids - both the momma and babies suffer. You milked the momma enough to reduce the over full teats - and the babies were able to nurse after that. I imagine that does raised by their mommas make better moms when they grow up. Be Blessed!
I was just getting ready to comment that I heard Smee and he needed to end the video and thank goodness he made his appearance. I love him, I’m so glad he popped up. Great information, even I was wanting you to force feed the babies with the momma. Good job Son.
Kevin, you & Rachel are so patient with ppl kinda yelling at you about what you are doing wrong! I have been watching you for a long time and I know that you are very very loving and caring about your animals including the wild birds! You are definitely an inspiration to many who are first time goat raisers bc you explain why or why not you all do what you are doing!! Thanks for sharing your experiences and knowledge with ppl!
Thanks for explaining things more in depth. I think that most (not all) people are sincerely concerned, especially because there were newborns involved, they reacted emotionally not wanting anything bad to happen. This in itself does not make them bad people. Try to understand that there are so many shows on television and on UA-cam about veterinarians, and many give the impression that you should step in "quickly" when something like this happens. How quickly? Many have differing opinions as to how quickly. So folks are often relaying what they've heard, or learned, from 'reputable' people. So when you explain things, they are learning about how you take care of your animals. I didn't know you had been raising goats for as long as you have. So I too learned something.
I know you know exactly what to do for the baby goats you have educated yourselves on the proper care of all goats also your LGDs and all your animals. How are your emus doing? I love seeing them run and play with your children. God bless you and take care of yourselves. By the way how are you doing with your diabetes? I have had diabetes for several years and taking pills and insulin injections I'm having trouble keeping the weight off mainly due to not being able to walk very well because of deteriorated hip joints very painful.
I have absolutely no agricultural background and I confess that I started following you because I learned about livestock guardian dogs from you and am totally in awe of the concept. I have also branched out to other goat farmers because goats are so interesting. My question is, other farmers seem to do a lot of deliveries because their mamas are delivering breech or other complicated presentations. I haven't seen this with your farm and wonder if you are fortunate enough that your goats are able to deliver these with no intervention. Give Mojo, Leeske and Cora an extra pat from me and tell them they have a big fan lol
I have seen video of him helping pull a kid when the mama was clearly struggling. Once again though he's not going to rush untill it's clear he could lose them both.
Well I have definitely been here long enough not to question what you do also because iv never raised any type of farm animals so I don't know what I would be talking about I would drop off any animal to you and have 100 percent trust on how you would care for whatever type of animal you guys know what you are doing God Bless
Like most of your followers have commented, I didn’t doubt for a second that you knew what you were doing with the newborns. A ton of experience combined with good old fashion common sense, nothing better😊 Great that you addressed those questions though. The instinct in those LGDs is quite amazing & Kora is learning fast being around Leeske as well. Love your videos, farm & family❤️ Take care & cheers🐨🦘🥰
People asking these questions are not watching your videos all the way through or all of your videos. You answered these questions in succeeding videos.
I would never second guess you on your farming methods as you are the expert in farming and raising your animals. If you did not have that expertise, you wouldn’t have such healthy animals, be they goats, geese, chickens, turkeys or dogs. It blows my mind that people think they know more about your business than you. Keep doing what you do. It’s ok to ask questions but no second guessing.
I know some people like to cause problems with their questions/accusations, but I prefer to think of it as a person wanting to understand why you do what you do. Either way, I enjoy listening to you explain the whats and whys. Thanks. Also, another channel I watch mentioned that a female bottle fed baby is less likely to be a good momma.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge of mommas, babies and nursing.
Hey Kevin and Rachel you’re doing a good job you know what you’re doing and you can’t fool mother nature keep up the good work
Well said Kevin, its so easy to go in too quick but sometimes you have to be hands off. YOU know your goats well done love your video's
You handled the goat situation good because it’s true the mama feeding them is the best , and they’re looking good and mama is a good mother
Funny how people are goat experts... you do it your way. You have that experience most don't. Goars are happy and eating like crazy. Beautiful!!!
I think you guys are doing a great job of raising your goats and caring for your animals! Don't let anyone discourage what works for your farm. Good job!
Thank you for the clarification Kevin. You and your wife are awsome. God bless your family 🙏🌺💛
What a wonderful life for all your critters and yourself
You asked for comments, so here you are: You did exactly right in all respects. And you are the only ones who are supposed to make decisions for what is best for your farm and your animals! But is was good to explain your reasoning more fully. Lots of people don't know.all the details and implications related to the issues. Including me. So thanks for sharing your thoughts and the backgrounds for your handling of the baby goats. I love how you work with your farm. Both the good and the difficulties as well.
Yes I agree with the way you're handling your goats mother's milk is the best milk for them keep giving me good videos God bless you all
Of course you did the right thing, mama needed a little help from you with the flies etc. but she soon settled down to caring for her babies. You do a great job with all your animals, they're all happy n healthy. Hope you are able to remove the predators asap. 😊🏴
Your LGDs are awsome. They know their jobs so well and identify issues so quickly.
You definitely done the right thing letting the mama goat take care of her babies. You done your job getting them in the barn and spraying for flies so mama could stand still for them. You know what you are doing keep up the good work and keep making videos, I watch every one of them. Love you two.
I totally agree with how your raising your goats, nature has to takes it course, you have beautiful farm, im loving your family and videos, God Bless
I’m very glad that you let nature take its course with the baby goats. You were watching them closely & would have stepped in if needed. Great job!!! The dogs are coming along so well.
I agree. You and Rachel know what’s best.
Yes, I agree with the way you handled the baby goats. I know you both know a ton more about raising goats than me. Happy I got to see Leeski and Kara doing their job.🥰🥰
Oh goodness, that was so cool watching Leeske in action! MOJO with the coyotes and Leeske with deer. Obviously the LGD are always on watch. Good job 👏
Thank you
I trust you all with your ownership with your farm I love all of you I'm keeping up with your videos bless this whole Family n farm
Thank you Kevin for an interesting video.
God bless you all.
Your doing a great job. I love how you talk to your animals like they understand you.
You are the expert, and we are city folk so carry on, good job and love those LGD's. God Bless
Thank you so much. I’m a city boy. I wondered but never questioned cause you’re the expert. You definitely know what you’re doing. Thanks
0:06- over Kevin's shoulder, there is Mr. Smee, being his best cat self!!
I think you both are great farmers. Love your videos 🥰😘🙏🏽God Bless you all
I figured you have raised goats for years and you and Rachel know what to do.
I do not question what you on raising your animals
My favourite thing about your channel is how you treat all your animals. From the first video I watched, it was abundantly clear that you always have their best interest at heart and you do what's right for them. Irritates me that you have people second guessing...always a few in the bunch! Keep doing you, cause you guys are great!
Yes I agree you handled it the right way! Enjoy your videos!
I have no complaints about anything I've seen you do. Much Love to You and your family from Northwest Ohio.. 😘💋
