Thank you so much for posting this. I found the loom I used to use back in the 70s and could not remember how to tie it off. After attempting several other videos I gave up and recently decided to try one more time and discovered you’re very easy to follow video. Bless you for posting it! I plan to use up my yarn and make a bunch for book club friends for Christmas!
Hi Sharon- I am so happy that my video was helpful for you! I love that you still have your loom from earlier days- that's great! Happy weaving, and what a lovely gift for the members of your book club!
Many years ago I had a hexagon loom but much smaller. My brother in law wanted me to make afghan for him. I told him I'd try but it would be forever to make as many squares for an adult size needed. He looked at my itty bitty loom really well and said I'll be back. I should mention that he was a wonderful wood carver! Anyway he came back the next day with a square loom at least 3feet by 3 feet if not larger! He gave it to me and his asking price was the first blanket was for him lol!! You bet he got that as well as a pillow to match!!!!! I still have it as well as several more. I make sure it in a place where it won't get shoved around or wet. I'll leave it to my granddaughter who has shown great interest in looming lol
How lovely- I hope that you feel close to your grandmother as you weave! You might like this eBook from my etsy shop:www.etsy.com/ca/listing/86723371/the-lily-speed-o-weave-loom-book-fab?ref=shop_home_active_3
This is so cool..as your video is playing I have a Lilly speed o weave hanging on the wall right behind my tv. It's crazy cuz yesterday I just found my shuttle buried in with my many knitting needles! I think someone is telling me something! I love your bags! They are gorgeous!
Hi Noreen. I checked through your links regarding the hexagon loom. I was curious, did you buy your weaving shuttle separate from the loom or did it come with it? I am having such a hard time replacing my Crafthouse Hexagon Lap Loom Weaving tool. I have bought wooden ones off of Etsy and even my sons have tried to recreate the weaving tool from wood. I am not comfortable with using crocheting needles or yarn needles. Do you know where I can get a weaving shuttle like the one you use in this video? Thank you for time put in on this video.
Hi Lisa, I have been very lucky to buy them at estate and yard sales and in second hand shops. I checked eBay, and saw a bunch of them there, and also etsy, but those were incredibly expensive. I hope that you are able to find one, as they are such a pleasure to weave with! 😊
@@TxgrlnGa Yes, and hopefully, one will turn up in your neighborhood at the thrift shop or a garage sale. They are heavy, so paying postage for them is expensive. Happy weaving!
You can make a cat tent in a geo dome if you get dowels from home depot and make a cat tent for pets when the octagon things will make a full geo dome pet tent too! JUST CROCHET THE THING ONTO THE STICKS!THEN CROCHETS THEM ALL TOGETHER AT END !
Hi Kady, Hmmm.... have you thought about marking your round loom to establish 6 sections, and then work within those 6 sections, following the video? That should work....
I went by your tutorial. Made my weave however, when I removed it from the loom, some of it started unraveling......it was every other flower petal that did not get caught in the weaving..what did I do wrong.!
Hi Amy- Sorry, I don't know what went wrong, but sometimes weaving errors happen. Start over and follow the instructions really really closely. Don't give up hope! You have no idea how many thousands of times I have to start over again when weaving! Keep on weaving- you will get it!
@@NoreenCroneFindlay I watched again and figured it out. Did not stitch the loose "petals" when stitching around the perimeter. Totally skipped them. Will definitely try again!
I bought my Lily Speed o Weave looms at estate and garage sales and thrift shops. They are very old and not made by the Lily company anymore.... but you can buy smaller versions of hexagon looms from loom makers like Dewberry Ridge Looms. I have lots of designs for them in my etsy shop: www.etsy.com/shop/ncronefindlay?section_id=22117265
For an 8 inch/20 cm hexagon (that is the measurement of each side of the hexagon) you'll need 21 yds or 19.5m. It's always better to have more yarn though, as everyone's tension etc is different.
@@Suz_408 What I do is to count the number of pegs, measure the distance across, multiply the distance by the number of pegs, then double that because each pass takes the thread across the loom twice. Then, multiply that number by the number of layers that you are putting onto the loom. Then, divide that final number by 36 to shift your number of inches into yards. If you are using cm, then it's easier, as of course, cm translate so simply to meters. So, there you have it... that's the math!

I was hapy to see this loom again! I have 45 different ones. Two are from solid oak that was given to me back in 68 and then my father welded two from square tubing. I was lucky and was able to buy one large cone of yarn from a carpet mill for a few dollars❤😊

Could you please explain exactly how you figure the yardage you'll need? Can't read what it says on the paper.

Interested in finding others that do lap weaving like my mom. She has made several throws and won prizes at local county fair.
It's so fun and good.
For the life of me, I can’t seem to figure out how to translate this to a 2 inch (only 5 pegs on each face) loom
