The way everyone says that they're waiting for this means a lot, these types of series/movies should be heard by many, not because it has a good quality as a whole but it's because of the life lessons and the dimly remembered history of the past that needs to see a light of day for everyone to know. 1. Loss of life - At least 100,000 unarmed Filipino civilians were killed, including many who were massacred by Japanese troops. Thousands more died in the Bataan Death March, and many others were maimed or impoverished.
2. Atrocities - Filipinos suffered from torture, rape, pillage, and massacres, sometimes of entire villages. Women were particularly vulnerable, with each Japanese company-sized unit keeping about ten "comfort women" who were raped five to ten times a day. 3. Destruction - Major cities like Manila were left in ruins, and much of the country's cultural heritage was destroyed, including archives, churches, libraries, and art. 4. Exploitation - The country's resources were exploited for the war, leading to food shortages and poverty. Farms were fallow, and farm animals died.😭😭😭😭
True, but then again, movies/series like this *should* have great production quality compared to other genres.
You want lessons, read history books. Historians are way different from creative artists.
Amen. TV series/movies can add audio and visual elements that can help viewers relate to historical figures and events in a more empathetic way. They can help viewers visualize narratives of the past and bring history to life.
They can put forward a particular historical interpretation that students may not necessarily pick up from a written text.

If you think this is a gamble then imagine if they make one about martial law and all the political chaos that will unfold if they try to make a film about that.
GMA lang talaga ang kayang mag offer ng iba't ibang putahe. The network who started opening the lgbt community via my husband's lover, destiny rose, dading, the richman's daughter. Advocaserye via Hindi ko kayang iwan ka (HIV awareness). Mental health advocacies such as Rhodora X, Little Nanay, My Special Tatay, Ang dalawang ikaw. And of course, Historical/Period dramas via Amaya, Indio, Ilustrado, Katipunan, Sahaya, Legal Wives, MCAI, and now Pulang Araw. They are also the first one to air a murder-mystery series via La Vendetta, Dormitoryo. Then Widows' Web, Royal Blood, and now Widows' War.
You can bash GMA all you want pero you can't deny the fact na ang dami na nilang napatunayan when it comes to thinking out of the box. Marami mang kabit serye pero sila lang nag kayang gumawa ng dekalibreng genre mentioned above. Hindi sila stuck sa kabit-serye, family issues, revenge plot, and remakes. Thank you GMA Network!

Certified Kapamilya ako but im so amazed sa trailer at pagkagawa ng series nato. It feels like im watching a Hollywood movie trailer. Wag po taung maging close-minded guys, hnd porke't Kapamilya tau eh hnd natin i-aappreciate ang gawang GMA. I-criticize pag may mali or kulang pero palakpakan pag maganda. Afterall, this is Philippine History & we are all Filipinos. This is part of our history. Salute to all the people behind this historical drama.
Sad to say pero meron pa din talaga na mga pinoy na hahapan ito ng mali o nag bubulagbulagan at hindi matanggap yung mga ganitong quality na series. Tulad ng ibang fans ng abs na andami pa din lumalait at nag aabang ng huling dalawang para pag tawanan at sabihin na dahil daw bagsak sa ratings kaya tinapos na. Dpat lng po na i-appreciate ang isang palabas na binigyan ng effort pra magbigay ng magandang palabas pra sa mga Pinoy at maging aware narin sa history ng ating bansa especially sa mga kabataan or gaya nrin natin na hnd nmn natin inabot ang panahon ng Hapon or ung World War 2. Bilang Pinoy dapat maging aware tau sa kasaysayan ng bansa natin.

I'm rooting to watch this serye of your Queen Sanya Lopez. For sure, mas mare-recognize lalo ang talent niya sa pag-acting ngayong malapit na ipalabas ang Pulang Araw. Hindi na niya kailangan ng ka-love team para umangat siya dahil talent niya ang mag-aangat sa kanya. Bonus na lang kung papatok kung sinuman ang makaka-pareha niya.

Any series set in one of the countries under Japanese occupation makes for a compelling backdrop and these characters' stories deserve to be seen by Americans. Please, please, please consider carrying this. No need for dubbing. I will be happy to read subtitles.
