Trail Preview | Upper and Lower PHD | Pemberton, Canada

- PHD is a world famous double black trail located 10km south of Pemberton (20km North of Whistler).
To lead me down this trail, who better than 2 Times National Champion of Downhill, Matt Beer?
This trail is a must ride in the Sea to Sky Area. It can be shuttled, but by respect for the trail I advice you to pedal to it. It’s about 1.5 hours of pedaling at slow pace.
Be aware of the risks, there is not much around, not many riders ride this trail. Go in a group. All the trail information right here: www.trailforks... and www.trailforks...
If you enjoyed this trail and want to ride it, I advice you to join the Pemberton Off Road Cycling Association: www.porcabikes...
Thanks a lot to the trail builders for the work!

what an amazing trail! I hope to check that out sometime
Jordan Boostmaster thanks! Super fun for sure. Worth the pedal.
Legend has it this trail was built by one guy over 8 years. Well, that was according to our guide in 2012. Rode this twice. So much fun.
Stuart Thompson wow crazy I did not know that!
Not true , maybe a few years . PhD is the builders initials , first name phil . I built diesel wolf by myself , which is beside PhD.
Thanks for posting Remy! I'm loving this stuff!
Great video featuring such smooth lines on gnarly terrain. It would be cool when introducing guest riders to do a 1 minute overview of the bike and gear they ride with, so us mortals get a sense of what the top guys ride. Keep up the great content.
Ryan Douglas thanks for the feedback. That will be a great idea but it can conflict a lot with my own sponsors... and it can cause me some issues.
Awesome riding...inspiring! Beyond my pay grade but so fun to watch.
Not sure what was more sick, the trail or the riders. Matt Beer is amazing. Hope he's in some more of your vids.
Daniel Eisen yes he is! We have another one I will release later on
great video , and appreciate the intro with climbing time etc nice to know this stuff
Nice work 👍 your videos are just getting better and better, I loved your trip to Utah
Reverend Harri thanks a lot! Putting the work in! Wait till the next ones!
Rémy Métailler I will
Loving the vids 😎
Can’t wait for more 👍
Keep shredding dude 🤘
Jack the Ripper in Pemberton, Zanarchy/Gargamel in Whistler, Larvicide in Squamish... loving this series.
hobmarg thanks! I m gonna be away for the next two weeks so I will do similar video while I'm away but before I leave I planned to film one of the trail you mentioned above..

Very enjoyable looking track. Just one more reason i need to make the trek to your hemisphere!
Sick video! I want to see Whistler Valley trails such as Dark Crystal. Heading up to Whistler at the end of the week, stoked to ride some of these trails in person.
Jack Spicer Nice I will!
I second the dark crystal vote.
That's a trail I would love to ride.. The very essence of mountain biking.
It’s scary as hell in the wet.
Some lines are not rideable in the wet .
Thumbs up for the ride and garbage collecting!
Kašpar Ondřej thanks. I wish I did not have to pick up garbage. Everyone should do it, especially when it's at the bottom, close to the car.
Sweet ride . First time watching your channel .
Jason Wood first and not last hopefully!
@@remymetailler Watching my 5th one tonight so far
Remy, is it better financially for you if I watch the video through UA-cam and not through Pinkbike? or does it matter
Coastal Zapper thanks I appreciated that question. It does not matter I believe as Pinkbike just shares the UA-cam video. As long as you tell your friends to watch it;)
Remy - thanks for that vid - what video equipment are you using? The video and audio are awesome.
Crandall Crute thanks. Just a Gopro Hero 7 black A + a foam case.
@@remymetailler Thanks Remy!
incredible riding
Bruno Matt is one of the most skilled guy I know.
Great edit length, love the Pemberton area. Maybe “Jack the Ripper “ next? Heard it’s quite difficult!!! Cheers!
Brad Murphy good one!
I wouldn’t mind seeing JTR either or maybe a lap down Gravitron.
Nice going on PHD, that upper section seemed a lot more gnarly in person that in your video however. Ha.
Nicholas Baker what is JTR?
Rémy Métailler Jack the Ripper = JTR.
*i only subscribe to 4K MTB video creators but your videos are so interesting that i broke this rule this time*
Thanks a lot! Does it actually make a difference if it is in 4k?
OMG...I'm so just like REMY....I really don't enjoy climbing...hahahaha! NEW SUBSCRIBER!!! Sweet vids!!!
Billy Farwig who does anyways?
@@remymetailler I know a few crazies that do, unbelievable! Merci pour les cool videos dude!!!
Nice video 🤟🤙
Looks like The Paper Bag in Nelson Bc with all those trees down.
Whaou incredible !
Bloody amazing riding!
Not easy not knowing the trail! But I believe it's better for people so they can relate better.
@@remymetailler I think it's super inspirational, even though I'd never be able to ride something like that, that fast and that smooth. Love the content.
@@danielgrafik Never say never. Someone told me I'll never be able to scrub or to go to Rampage.
@@remymetailler I guess that's the right attitude! Thank you!
i need to move to Canada! :O
Sick!!...
Both you and Yoann provide very entertaining commentary, all while riding so effortlessly. You guys’ pronunciation of the word, shit, makes me laugh.
nathan wind thanks. Yoann is amazing at riding and talking. I definitely need some improvement but that was a first try for me.
Dude, you shred. There is so much mtb talent from France. A riding friend and I always talk about how good the French riders are. You, Yoann, and Amaury are so much fun to watch. Greetings from the states.
nathan wind thanks a lot! Yes plenty of Talent in France. Don't forget 3 times World Champ Loic Bruni.
Fantastic 🤘
Wow an old school trail! way more fun than that baby smooth chair lifted stuff
Cannondale2019 wait till Crankworx is here and then the blue becomes double blacks! PHD is a great trail. I believe it was made for trials bike at first.
Rémy Métailler tail whips and backflips meh. I’m old school Whistler Pemby rider.
@@remymetailler It was originally an MTB trail - Paulie H's Descent
Sick bro
yes mec 🤘
Waiting for the day one of you videographers runs into a Grizzly!!!
What denotes a double black diamond? Some DBD trails are absolutely un-rideable for intermediate riders but this one seemed ok.
Raivkka it seemed ok because he’s a pro rider and because of the GoPro effect
More likely a Black bear in Pemberton. Grizzlies are usually further north.
@@samscheewe7652 Ah! Been watching Yoann video's and that stuff is clearly un-rideable (for me!). From the northeast USA and I am so envious of the mtn biking out there!
Capt Snappy hopefully they are further north..
Raivkka to be honest most of the trail is ok but some sections are very loose or flow less which makes it challenging!
How much further North is this from Gargamel?
MTBzine about 15km
Brazil 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Can you shuttle this?
hamman42 you could but you should really pedal. It's only 1:15mm well worth it.
du free ride
Nice trail ! Do you inposible come to Montenegro in Kotor to ride the stepeest track ever. ( yt RISAN DOWNHILL)
Lazar Kaludjerovic one day maybe!
@@remymetailler Nice, it's my plasure if you been my guest. Your welcome!
we are organizing the race to September 15th, we would be glad to enhance your event by your presence
What is the song of the intro
nacho naranjo let me find it
What is the name??
They cut the tree to make trail wtf??
CHRISTIAN FAJARDO yes for every trail , usually trail builders have to cut down trees. They try tu cut down dead trees first and as few as possible..
