you know I was wondering about that..😂 also was wondering how was he able to perform that several times!! Idk how he'd be able to unleash such fury repeatedly..
The song is true, minus the murder part anyway and it was him just blowing off steam in the studio. Dre didn’t necessarily have to be in the studio with him at this point because this song was produced by the Bass Brothers from Detroit like a lot of his early work was so Dre probably didn’t even hear this song until it was already finished.
Insane wasn’t as bad. Insane was just him spazzing out and attempting a whole serial killer vibe killing indiscriminately and not going into detail. In this song he is specifically targeting a single person that he knows personally and going into extreme detail followed by a whole sequel song of him getting his toddler daughter to help him dispose of her body and trying to explain it to her in baby talk.
This song is just art. For a 'song' its over the top but as art its wonderful. Em doesn't have the best singing voice but the fact he is singing the chorus makes it more personal and chilling. The thing with Eminem that myself and so many others love is just how he is an open book through his music in terms of his life and emotions. It's clearly theraputic for him in my opinion, he needs to channel his feelings in this manner.
i rember vibing along to this song on my cd player back when i was around 8 years old, laying on the floor drawing pokemon to the sound of kim being murdered xD
Eminem says he was tripping on the drug Ecstasy when he wrote this song. "Ecstasy amplifies whatever mood you're in - love or hatred," he told Q magazine. "I've wanted to kill people on Ecstasy. And then I've had times when I've been telling people I don't know, 'I love you man!'" (So Yes this song while he didnt kill her this is his true feeling on how he felt about her)
This song really hits hard with someone like me, I've been cheated on and this is what goes through your mind. The raw emotion really hits home, but not the murdery part.
The crazy thing is I knew this song front to back growing up, then more than a decade later I got cheated on by my wife when we had a 1 yr old daughter together. Since then, listening to this song has a whole different experience and is 10x more relatable to the mindset I was in at the time
@@pogothebear6808 Technically he did act on them, just not in a destructive way. Instead he poured his emotions into a song. Art is actually a very good way to let emotions out. Martial arts, musical art, painting, doesn't matter, long as it's not something illegal.
This song vocalizes internal feelings we have when we’re betrayed by someone that is meant to love us. It’s not literal; simply placing a beat to the feelings invoked. This is what made him such a legend.
I've tried to make this argument before and apparently some people haven't been betrayed. It seems like it's all amicable breakups around the world. But I agree. If the betrayal is bad enough these are the thoughts that run through your mind. You wont actually do it obviously, but you're thinking it.
So, yes. in a way this is correlated to Stan. Stan does what he does in part to mimic Eminem, in that case, he is reffering to what he heard on the song "97' Bonnie and Clyde". That song is the "sequel" to Kim, but it was created first. The song is on The Slim Shady LP and it also is on The Slim Shady EP, that Eminem made before meeting Dr Dre. It was originally named "Just the two of us". I really do believe "97' Bonnie and Clyde" deserves a reaction. The song is nowhere near as violent as this one, and is way more creative, in my opinion. Just some random fact, DJ Jezzy Jeff (Will Smith's DJ) revealed that he was into Eminem early stuff (before meeting Dre) and invited Em to Philly to maybe do something. When they were in the studio Jezzy played "Just the two of Us" to Will (Will had just released the song with the same name - great song also. They both interpolated the same song - Bill Withers' and Grover Washington, Jr.'s "Just the two of us"). After hearing the song (that would become 97' Bonnie and Clyde) Will told Eminem: "You either gonna be the biggest flop in Hip Hop, or you're gonna be the biggest thing that we've ever seen."
f.y.i. you're authentic reaction to this just makes me smile. I'm a 45yr. old man in indiana and you kinda just made my day watching this. I've heard this song literally a thousand times, for the first time in 2001, and it's great to see you hearing it for the first time 20yrs. later!! You really are awesome! Thank you for making my day
Dragging the body indeed! Crazy song haha. Not sure how this influenced me when i heard this as a child, cant be good 🤣🤣🤣 great reaction, and sorry for your loss!
This song is a prelude to 97' Bonnie and Clyde. When he returns to the house and Hallie with Kim in the trunk. Even the album art is them on a pier with Kim's leg hanging out.
also, fun fact: Em did Kim's voice too. The part about the 4yo; he killed the guy she cheated on him with and his son. The end is the sound of Em dragging Kim's body through leaves and putting it in the trunk and you can hear cars driving by
Your analysis of this song was so great! I appreciate you spotlighting the positive aspects hoe of this very dark track is also creative and cathartic. I think "Kim" is the intro of "'97 Bonnie & Clyde" , because in the outro of "Kim" you can hear a car trunk close. In the intro of '97 Bonnie & Clyde you can hear the same of the outro of "Kim". P.s: u should react to the song '97 Bonnie & Clyde, it's at least more vibey than the Kim song lol & I think he made the song '97 Bonnie & Clyde first than the song "Kim". (Kim - Marshall Mathers LP, '97 Bonnie & Clyde - Slim Shady LP & EP) also sorry for ur loss
I pretty sure that's not what happened. Yes Kim cheated on Eminem but they broke up when they were seperated Kim started dating another guy (if it's the same guy she cheated with I don't know ) and they got pregnant. Later they also broke up and Kim and Eminem got back together and eventually Eminem adopted that girl Kim had with the other man.
This track (how horrendous the premise and story is) is such a masterpiece of a track. It gives you the whole spectrum of negative emotions going through heartbreak running wild. How he goes from extremely angry to breaking when asking 'you love'd him didn't you?' and then instantly telling Kim to don't touch him anymore like he is repulsed by the thought alone. That rollercoaster i recognise all to well, never did act on it but definitely experienced the the extremely contrasting emotions from one moment to the other. I am very glad that Marshall has found a creative outlet for these hectic emotions in his art 😀
Right now I'm spending my day waiting to get to work while listening to generation z.Listen to the song and seeing their reactions. This is making my day.
I love em, and I particularly love his horror stuff like in Relapse, but the most fucked part of this song is knowing that he showed this to Kim after making it. This song was made when the two of them separated for a time and Kim found a new boyfriend who had a son (the 4 year old boy) after the song was released Kim and Em were on slightly better terms and he showed her the song saying "I know this song is seriously fucked up but it represents how crazy I am about you" Kim never wanted Marshall to perform this live, which he didn't, but at one show he used the opening beat of this song to lead into another song, "Kill You" at that show Kim was in the audience and she mistakenly thought that it was about her, so she left the show and attempted suicide. The two of them were an immensely toxic relationship on both sides, but thankfully today they actually are good friends and coparents to Hailie.
At the ending is also the sound you hear at the bigining of 97 Bonnie and clyde so 97 Bonnie and clyde is like a part two of the song I love your reaction to eminem
I just realized what Eminem is trying to do in the song The reference to bringing Kim back in his trunk means he’s trying to frame her, he wants to plant her body near her husband and kid so that it looks like a double homicide and suicide with no note
I'm glad you changed "angry" to frustrated (add distraught, trust/loyalty violated, etc). The genius of this song is he paints an awful picture of killing kids, boyfriends and potentially Kim... YET, he makes you feel for HIS pain! You summed up so much that people often miss with this one, your empathy is astounding! And thank you for the ending PSA, I agree murder is almost never ever the solution... almost never. 🤪

The real Kim in real life did try to self-delete in a tub after been promised he would not sing this song at a concert she was to go to, yet still did. He had a blow-up doll on stage doing inappropriate things with it and all. Including the strangling. Trivia. Sad and real trivia. And sometimes violence is the answer. When you call the police. They tend to use violence if other things don't work. ;)
