Snoop Dog said it best when asked about this song... "Who hasn't had a fantasy about murdering their spouse at one time or another... Em was was just crazy enough to make a song about it!"
The track STAN was actually made way after this track KIM..... so Stan was emulating "Slim Shady" in the Stan video as he was such an obsessed fan that he put his own girlfriend in the trunk the same way believing that Eminem's lyrics were literal. It was to highlight the perspective of a deranged fan that takes all of Eminem's music literally and doesn't understand the context of the art.
Stan is even referring the song "But I didn't slit her throat, I just tied her up, see I ain't like you . 'Cause if she suffocates she'll suffer more, and then she'll die too."
There was a legal backlash for this song. It actually went to court and they ruled in favor of Eminem as a freedom of speech 1st amendment protection. This song is intense, but yes, you can hear the pain as he's screaming through this song. A much healthier way to deal with anger than a lot of other people have in this situation.
I used to listen to this all the time when I was feeling angry as a teenager. It’s a full on throw up of raw emotion. Some people hurt others, or themselves or keep everything inside. This is a him using his art to get his pain out
He perform this song live only once that im aware of, it was during the "up in smoke tour" when they was in Detroit he performed it unware to Eminem at the time Kim was in the crowd when this song was perform. Kim reacted by cutting herself. Eminem references about Kim doing this on the Eminem show i believe.
@@Aftermath. nah that’s actually not exactly true. It was actually the song “Kill you”. Which had a small snippet of “Kim” at the beginning which segwayed into Kill you. He also had a blow up doll during it he named Kim and beat up and threw into the crowd. He’s never performed the full song of Kim at all.
There's a line in "When I'm Gone" that he speaks from Hailie's perspective: "help mommy, her wrists are bleeding." That was true, and it was part of the fallout from songs like this and '97 Bonnie and Clyde, he was singing them at shows and she just couldn't take it.
Kim tried to commit suicide after Em performed this song at a show she was at. They had somewhat reconciled and she had asked him to stop doing that song live. Em was still mad, performed it directely to her.
You got it right. You can feel the pain. Even songs like this are incredible in it's own way. The way Em can put emotions in a song through his voice alone is unmatched.
As a child growing up in a house where you witnessed abuse on a weekly basis, I can relate. My brother got to an age where he had to be the man of the house, and try his best to defend my mother against my alcoholic dad and often got beat in the crossfire. The system did not protect families back in the day and although my dad was often arrested for the things he did, he was just put in a cell to sober up and sent home the very next day. I'm in my fifties now still if I see a fight, I get terrible flashbacks and my body shakes uncontrollably. For anyone who has suffered as a child growing up, we are survivors, never forget that
Michelle i went through similar experiences, I put them to the back of mind, literally just other day something triggered all memories..... abuse n torture is all I can remember from 5 till 15... as a father of a 17yr old daughter she won't experience what I put up with 😑🤨
Tbh we thought it was normal to be drowned, beat up,put in hospital as a child it was daily.... thinking back 🤔 wow me and my brothers survived our own parents.... 😑
Some of this stuff you don't "need" to react too because it's clearly not who he is today, but to fully appreciate who he is and what he's become listening to the early stuff gives you a better picture of his growth as a person.
For what it's worth, I appreciate and respect your willingness to share your experiences and how you relate to the songs you react to. Seems incredibly genuine and I can imagine it isn't easy. Kudos! Love the channel.
This song to me is a masterpiece because I never EVER have heard a song that makes you feel as disgusted, scared, and sad. Even the instrumentals by themselves are just SOO unsettling. This song accomplished exactly what he wanted
The pure, raw emotion in his voice. This song is pure emotional vengeance. Instead of doing anything literally he talks about in this song..... he refrains and does what he does best..... pours it into a song. And to me this is the best example of pouring your pain into something instead of actually doing the damn things. He's venting and he let us in.
Please edit this post with a link so he's more likely to take note. Bonnie and Clyde is an awesome song; and has another link to Stan. "If I have a daughter, guess what I'ma call her? I'ma name her Bonnie"
He did get into a lot of trouble for this song, infact he invited kim to watch him live at one of his shows, then performed this song in front of her while doing the actions to a blowup doll that he called Kim right up there live on stage in front of her, she then went home and slit her wrists
For context, this was Eminem’s second big album.. definitely around his heavy drug usage.. he was also known for being a shock artist and making crazy songs like this and saying outlandish things. Kim ended up suing Eminem for 10 million because of the emotional distress the song caused.. she also wanted full custody and didn’t want him to see Hailey, they ended up settling the case and he did get to keep his joint custody, around the same time Kim also cut her wrists in a suicide attempt. Eminem has quoted saying he doesn’t listen to the song anymore and when he made the song it was just built up anger however he said a lot of their fights are very similar to the song, I assume without the killing part lol. Also around the same time Eminem’s mom was suing him for 11millon for Cleanin out my closet.. in that case they settled for $1600 lol
Em is always such a brilliant storyteller. I always find the craziest bit about Em's older tracks is that he does the sound effects and other persons voice in the tracks , rap genius
"He's kinda pissed" Understatement of the year lmao We tried warning ya about this one. They didn't even put this on the censored version of the album.
This is one of Em’s Greatest Storytelling Songs Of All Time! And the crazy thing is that Em did both voices, himself and Kim That's just what Em does, instead of actually do something wrong in real life he express his frustrations in his art, is obvious that those things didn't actually happened besides Kim betrayal tho. Next track of this story is “97 Bonnie and Clyde”... And to finish the story you should definitely listen to the song “Bad Husband” In that song he explained a little bit about his feelings about the relationship and apologized to Kim his Ex Wife Em The Goat Of Hip Hop Forever!👊🏽🙌🏽🐐🔥🎯💯
the part in the last verse u didn’t get with the son walking in and getting killed is probably the craziest darkest part of the song: he’s explaining to Kim how he’s going to cover up his crime, he killed the man she cheated with and his son so he said he’s going to make it look like Kim killed them and herself
Although released before Kim, ‘97 Bonnie and Clyde acts as a great sequel in an entirely different tone. Then as a resolution Bad Husband is amazing. Lyric video links since no music videos. ‘97 Bonnie and Clyde: m.ua-cam.com/video/Kx3pCDsB-u8/v-deo.html Bad Husband: m.ua-cam.com/video/8ACMtDdtH8U/v-deo.html
Wow, can't believe we finally got here! This is great - you should continue to expose yourself to all aspects of Em's art! Check out the sequel to Kim next: '97 Bonnie & Clyde - an excellent storytelling song, and much more comedic
“Cool experience” sums it up man. Nobody had this on their playlist… but I literally remember the first time I heard it, it’s powerful, it’s art and the man is in possession of genius. I think music is meant to evoke emotion, of some sort. And in that, this certainly succeeds.
I've been listening to all of eminems music since I was the age of 2 years old. I'm 22 now, tho I may still be young I had a very very rough 2 year relationship... re-hearing these songs after going through some of the hardest things I've ever dealt with in life, blows my mind at how much I never knew these lyrics would mean alot to me.
Going back to his older albums after his new is probably the smart move for people first listening to his catalog. Definitely he brought horror and shock rap to a new level. Tho it makes sense, couldn't make gangsta rap and wouldn't get the respect rapping about being white.
This is definitly a once in a couple of years track to me. It really is a full on emotional rollercoaster which always hits deep and profound. I feel all the cringe, pain, disgust, sadness, bargaining, insecurity and fury this absolute masterpiece portrays. You don't only hear but so easily feel all the emotions that Eminem is going through. Now tell me who is able to do that in 5 minutes ? It's like a horrorstory that has a tractor beam on you and you can't look away. It's disgustingly beautifull to be honoust. Thank you also for your share
yep, you can truly feel the pain and he paints that picture so vividly! too vividly, it's scary. oh and "Kim's" voice is still him, Em does her voice too.
Ah, you've delved into the "Slim" part of Eminem's portfolio... Longtime fans know he's got three distinct styles; Eminem (the rapper), Marshall (a normal dude), and Slim (an extreme vulgar mashup of the two) Keep up the great work! Love your reactions. Haven't heard this in forever
You need to listen to 97 Bonnie and Clyde next, it released the year before but chronologically in the story picks up right after Kim. Then finally after that would be nice to see you react to Bad Husband, Em’s apology that he made 17 years later
I've been there at his place, with my wife and in my head had own Kim scenario, happily for both of us nothing happened... Didn't heard this song in ages, but now while was listening it... I know how he felt. People do not appreciate him as much he deserves, I know how big and popular Em is but there isnt other artist who open themselves as much as he did, especially in early stage of his career.
Your stories are always chilling man, honestly your reactions are golden and seeing you be so mentally stable and optimistic after everything you went through and try to get the best out of life makes me really happy and optimistic too
Eminem is amazing, and I'm glad I was there and had the chance to follow his start of his career, because his early music, Slim Shady LP and Marshal Mathers LP, I recommend anyone who has dealt with depression or other hard things in life to listen to his voice and what he says in those songs, because Eminem really blew up because of the honesty that people could hear from him, and at the time when you deal with hard things yourself, his voice and words and how you could relate to his emotions, it all really helped with your own depression, to such degree that I listened to his songs whole days one after the other, and to this day those times listening to him helped me feel a lot better.
Glad you saw it as him venting! Because that’s exactly what this song was to him. He even apparently played it at a concert with Kim in the audience, such intense emotion
Eminem put his darkest thoughts he had at that time in this song as a way to cope with all the madness and drama he was going through mentally. It is dark, but everyone who been through shit has had those thoughts. I respect he had the courage to make the song and even share it with the world, showing us his dark side and pain. That itself takes courage. Even though you may find it somewhat disurbing to listen to, you gotta respect that he still shared it to deal with it in a way he otherwise maybe couldnt have dealt with it.
@@larryshair it wa a great reaction! Well done. I appreciate Eminem's honesty and willingness to discuss topics many don't. Even when he's being ridiculous.
The emotion in his voice shows how deep his feelings were and gives me chills. I'm not saying if he should've made this song public or not but this is one of the most raw eminem songs i've ever heard. Especially after recent events in my life (not as bad as Em's) this song has made a lot more sense to me. I'd never do anything like this in a million years but I feel like I can relate to the anger on some level
Hey man… just want to say I’ve been watching reaction videos for a while, and never have subscribed to any channels but that is about to change. I just watched my first video of yours and it was ‘when im gone’ by Eminem. I’m hooked, you remind me of my dad and I cried hard for that video. Ive been an Eminem fan for 20 years now and never have had that reaction to that song. Hello from your newest subscriber!
On a personal note, my heart was so sad to hear your childhood experiences with DV. I'm living in a DV transitional housing myself at the moment, and my biggest concern is that my children will have those same haunting memories for their lives. Horrible stuff. Hugs from me to you!
Eek 😬 I’ve been waiting on this!! I’ve been worried you weren’t prepared for this one. So thrilled you decided to do it. Haha. Just noticed you posted 1 day before my birthday. Kinda a birthday gift because I have been waiting on this reaction. 🤣
@@larryshair no problem! Sorry I have bounced around all over different videos and commented many times on each video. I’m sure that gets annoying. But I just love the songs and your content. 💝
Well Chris, you got me to listen to “Kim” for a second time. LOL. And I don’t think I ever need to listen to it again. 😂 But seriously, props for really taking this one in stride. Definitely need to follow up with “Bad Husband” (ua-cam.com/video/73Sfh_qGsDo/v-deo.html) soon! “Bad Husband” is to “Kim” as “Headlights” is to “Cleaning Out My Closet.” I appreciate the artistic value of it - the vocal performance of the various characters (but especially just the pure rage and passion from his POV), the storytelling, etc. And I can appreciate that at the time, this kind of creative outlet was probably the therapy Em needed to save him from going down darker roads in real life. But man, the content of this one is a rough one for me to take, and I’m one of those walking “I put on a serial killer documentary to calm my nerves and go to sleep” memes. 🤷♀️😂
This originally wasn't a song that I liked, but I came to appreciate it with time. I look at it as a form of therapy that helped him express the raw emotions he was clearly feeling at the time. It's such a raw expression of emotions, which is what I appreciate about it.
Oh shit! Deep intake of breath from me! I see a reaction for '97 Bonnie and Clyde (the pre recorded sequel?) from you on my right too... Just remember Mockingbird. Em is a good person as well as a troubled person...
Also Damn i never knew you had that kind of upbringing... I've watched quite a few of your videos now and you just seem so... Pure. Very genuine and kind. Usually you can get a feel at least a LITTLE if someone has experienced shit in their life so I never would've guessed you went through the things you went through as a kid. Biggest reason I'm commenting this is I just want to applaud you AND say thank you. It's incredibly rare to see someone who went through what you went through and come through it still able to be a person that personifies kindness, gentleness, seemingly unweighed by baggage, and give so many smiles. I'm going through a bit of a rough patch right now and your videos have made me smile a lot (:
Thank you so much for your kind words and I'm so sorry to hear that you're going through it right now. I would just encourage you to know that what you might be going through is something that is going to build you up and make you a stronger person. I hope that is the case and that you will come out of this on the other side a wiser and stronger person because of it. Blessings to you my friend.
@@larryshair you're very welcome (: I appreciate your kind words as well. You're a safe person but I don't wanna share too much cuz UA-cam comments sections are wild loll but yes I know things will get better and definitely trying to be thankful for the positive things I do have in life. I grew up similar to you specifically in that I was very blinded to the amazingness that rap can be, so your videos really resonate with me. Thank you very much music reactor dad who lives in my phone 🫡🙏🏼
Also want to note, you are absolutely killing UA-cam right now. I feel like you have a large group of followers that are really falling in love with your channel. I really find it interesting with your background that you have fallen in love with my favorite artist of all time. Huge respect to you for stepping out of your comfort zone and taking us on this ride you have started. Keep up the great work
Wow, thanks so much for your comments! Not sure that I'm killing UA-cam, but have really been enjoying this community. It's the highlight of my day to interact with the peeps on this channel. Thanks so much!
“Stan” it’s an amazing song not just beacause of the outstanding lyrics but also because of the painful vision that EM got of himself, as someone who had been in an extremely dark part of himself and shared all this thoughts and acts through the lyrics, what had a bad effect in lots of fans who saw that dark place as something cool or possible for the first time. EM recognize that Stan acts are sort of side effects of the bad inspirations and influences shared through songs like “Kim”
Easily one of the darkest songs he's made & the fact that you stuck through it (which a lot of reaction channels won't do) makes me respect you all the more mate. His darker songs make you understand/respect who he's grown into as an artist as he's progressed ❤️❤️
i had the same experience you described when you were a kid. almost totally identical. wild what adults just do without thinking of the effects later down the road.
Thank you for sharing your story. I can 100% relate. It’s terrifying for a child, you never forget. It can cause ptsd, and other psychiatric problems. Sadly many times it’s a cycle and history repeats itself. You have to break the cycle. I used to listen to this top volume in my bedroom when I was like 13
You took this ALOT better than I thought mate and credit to you, I remember the first time I heard this as a teen I was shook to the core and it's still probably the only Eminem song that has no replay value to me personally, it's just an assault on the senses and I have to give him credit for making it as powerful as it is. As others have explained in the comments, yeah there was lawsuits involved etc... Now, for some ear eraser I suggest something more light hearted from Slim Shady for the next song like "97 Bonnie & Clyde" it was off his first major album called The Slim Shady LP, this song is sort of an extension and was off his second major The Marshall Mathers LP.
This is the only song of Em's I don't listen to because my abusive ex played it on repeat when he was drunk- and by repeat i mean hours and hours of it on a loop. I'm in a way better place now and that was 2 decades ago- yet I still had to turn the volume off before commenting. It's crazy how music can affect us even unexpectedly. Love Eminem! Just can't handle this particular song. Still dropping a comment for the algorithm though.
Nail on the head when you said "you can feel the pain". Been waiting for a reaction to state that. Good thing it's not the first time you listen to Eminem as this would send you running for the hills, probably in the same way a Mother with no experience of Eminem would be listening to Cleaning out my closet. It takes some kind of understanding.
When you have a divorce or you leave someone and they're somewhere else and your living in the house raising the baby, you normally don't have the money to throw out the marital bed so that just stays there. In their mind though it's not right. When I went through my divorce I threw everything out beds couch chairs kitchen table I lived with nothing because I didn't want to have any association with it anymore. It's not wrong that she keeps the bed it's just wrong for him. It is very difficult I couldn't even let any man come into my home for a very long time after my split. Not that I didn't go to his house. I really went back and forth on even watching this video because of how dark everyone said it was. I did get through it and I'm okay. I am so glad I listened to this song with you. And what you said after what happened to you when you were an adult I was there with you when I listen to this song. But like I said I got through it and I'm okay. Thanks for being there I don't know if I could listen to it on my own.
yo its my 3rd comment today on one your vids. I like the deep stuff more like when im gone and so on. BUT this is rap. better you rap about this things than actually doing it. This guy is so fucked up and on the other side he is so smart and down to earth. gotta love him. best ever. Dont know where i would be without rap music
This song is performance art. (A scary thought, but maybe if he hadn't got rap as an outlet, he'd actually done what he acted out here...) When I got this album as a kid (I know, right? :D But I didn't understand a lot back then - was just starting to learn english), and listened to it from beginning to end countless times, this song became a skip for me after the first couple of times. I've started to listen to it a few times in the last... maybe 5 years, and it actually became a good one to come back to, for me. I appreciate the art of it, the movie-like quality, Em's acting (even if it's veeeery heavily inspired by his true mindstate of that time, so it was probably not that hard of an acting job :D), and the MUSIC. I love the "beat" actually.
I absolutely love your Eminem reactions. I’m so glad you understood it was like an artistic expression of real emotions people In similar situations resort too. He has a lot of dark material I’ve been nervous about you discovering. He has a lot of dark serial killer type material. But it’s honestly incredible work.
He sang this when it came out but not anymore and u gotta take his songs like ur hearing someone's private therapy sessions cuz its why I fell in luv with his music because he is working out his pain in his music and you can follow it as he got older and see how he's healed and yes there are bad things said here BUT he was going thru bad things here and that's why he's loved cuz we can relate to him and he would not kill Kim damm if he was gonna he would of many times over he's been getting back with her so many times ..I think now he's grown and I don't believe he would go with her again but she is the mother to his only child he's adopted her dead sisters daughter he truly has a good heart and YES talks mad sh*t when he's hurt ...like ALL OF US or at least ALL OF US THINK IT..
Schrödinger's cat of whether to listen or not. But, I think this is an integral part of your Em journey. Respect Chris! I'm scared for you. Edit: now, that I'm watching your reaction, kudos to you. You handled this song so respectfully and open. Thank you!
"Schrödinger's cat of whether to listen or not." I honestly couldn't have put it better myself. I have listened to this song exactly TWICE in my entire life - the first back in the early 2000's when I listened to the whole MMLP for the first time, and then again a few months ago when I watched a reaction channel do a full album reaction to MMLP. Both times it put me incredibly on edge, made my teeth physically ache, and I swore to myself that I'd never listen to it again... both times. Yet, here I am. There are other songs - like Drips - that I just don't like, mostly because they get far too graphic with the noises, the slurping, that stuff. This is the one that I actively dislike for the lyrical content and just how wrong the whole song is. Chris has rapidly become one of (and likely my number one currently) my favorite Eminem reactors, and seeing him go on this journey... well, here we go, brace for physical discomfort for a 3rd time.
Oh no! They getting you to react to Slim Shady. He still has tons of newer uplifting motivational tracks that I know are more your style and will love. But it’s good to know the entire story. Slim Shady his alter ego is what helped him make a huge splash and become a huge hit in the rap game. Despite how talented he is, he was having a rough time getting noticed possibly being white in a black culture. It was Slim Shady that got him noticed, and once he got the spotlight and the platform, he never let it go. Was able to show everyone how talented he truly is. Not just a crazy white boy rapping about drugs and killing etc etc.
Maybe the third time I´m hearing that song. Big big Eminem fan but this song is haunting for me. All the pain, deception and anger is so raw. You feel it all with him. Always a skip when listening to mmlp. Great storytelling tho. You should do Bad husband next. :)
nice job catching the Stan correlation, but you got it in reverse. Stan referenced this song. "Hey Slim, that's my girlfriend screamin' in the trunk But I didn't slit her throat, I just tied her up, see I ain't like you 'Cause if she suffocates she'll suffer more, and then she'll die too". The sounds at the end on this track were slim dragging kim's body out of the trunk and dumping it from a bridge. "Well, gotta go, I'm almost at the bridge now Oh shit, I forgot, how am I supposed to send this shit out?"
You have to listen to the interview with Kim. She talks about how he is as a husband and father. She also talks about him performing this song with her in the audience
I know I am late to the party but Stan was mimicking Shady in his song. Also, Em does something similar in the slim shady LP. I think it's called '97 Bonnie and Clyde.
Man Kim used to be the taboo song my friends lured me in with. My parents got me the censored version of the album and I only knew of Kim from my buddy's uncensored cd. Think had I to be around 13-14 and this song felt so wrong to listen to, which has always cemented it into my brain.
@@AloneInThePark went back and edited the comment 😂 the censored version. In replace of the song Kim was a song called The Kids. Took inspiration from South Park based on the voices he used in that song. It’s actually pretty funny.
@@TropicalHat420 didn’t realized I wrote uncensored in my message. 😂 went back and changed it. But it was a classic on its own and not a lot of people know about it. But I kept it and when I got more money from my job I got the uncensored version and that’s when I heard Kim. Crazy times it was. Glad I grew up in the 90s and 2000s when it was all happening.

For what it's worth, I appreciate and respect your willingness to share your experiences and how you relate to the songs you react to. Seems incredibly genuine and I can imagine it isn't easy. Kudos! Love the channel.
Thanks so much Joe!
Love it 😃 Need to do '97 Bonnie & Clyde' next ;)
Please edit this post with a link so he's more likely to take note. Bonnie and Clyde is an awesome song; and has another link to Stan. "If I have a daughter, guess what I'ma call her? I'ma name her Bonnie"
ua-cam.com/video/wFM5UKYorFg/v-deo.html thats the link
Yeah so much back story even to those sound effects at the end there. Remember that when doing 97 Bonnie and Clyde
He did get into a lot of trouble for this song, infact he invited kim to watch him live at one of his shows, then performed this song in front of her while doing the actions to a blowup doll that he called Kim right up there live on stage in front of her, she then went home and slit her wrists
Yes I remember hearing about that. Is that where the line “ help mommy her wrist are bleeding” in When im gone”?
@@peytoncooke1334 yep. He mentions the incident in a couple other songs, too, like “Don’t Approach Me” and “Nail in the Coffin”
He dont give a shit eminem 😍 best artist/dad Human ever so Nice. Dont fuck with his fam or life 🤯
@@dannimonsrudsrensen7667 idk if this is the comment u should reply with here lmfao
Wel he clearly regret it’s which shows how much he’s grew as a human over the years
Em has such a way with words…
"He's kinda pissed"
Understatement of the year lmao
We tried warning ya about this one. They didn't even put this on the censored version of the album.
This is one of Em’s Greatest Storytelling Songs Of All Time! And the crazy thing is that Em did both voices, himself and Kim
That's just what Em does, instead of actually do something wrong in real life he express his frustrations in his art, is obvious that those things didn't actually happened besides Kim betrayal tho.
So was Eminem - Murder, Murder sOng…
@@MichaelHalloween31 This song is pure brilliance, storytelling at it's finest.
Hungry Eminem was the illest !
He paints a perfect picture. You imagine whats heppening the whole song. Like a good horror move.
Crazy every time I picture this play out since the first time I heard it when it came out it’s always been the same movie lol
It's hard to listen to, I usually skip it, but it's so emotional and a work of art imo. You can hear that Em needed this as an outlet, I think.
the part in the last verse u didn’t get with the son walking in and getting killed is probably the craziest darkest part of the song: he’s explaining to Kim how he’s going to cover up his crime, he killed the man she cheated with and his son so he said he’s going to make it look like Kim killed them and herself
Although released before Kim, ‘97 Bonnie and Clyde acts as a great sequel in an entirely different tone. Then as a resolution Bad Husband is amazing.

We need "Bad husband" by Eminem now. I really love that song.
This is a BRILLIANT song you can really feel his emotions I love it
Wow, can't believe we finally got here! This is great - you should continue to expose yourself to all aspects of Em's art!
Check out the sequel to Kim next: '97 Bonnie & Clyde - an excellent storytelling song, and much more comedic
I knew your eminem journey would eventually take you to this song
EMINEM is the most honest artist ever! That's why I've loved him from day one!
2:17 “a little venting, woah”. I laughed out loud thinking you have no idea what is coming 😅
lol, right?
yep, you can truly feel the pain and he paints that picture so vividly! too vividly, it's scary. oh and "Kim's" voice is still him, Em does her voice too.
Ah, you've delved into the "Slim" part of Eminem's portfolio... Longtime fans know he's got three distinct styles; Eminem (the rapper), Marshall (a normal dude), and Slim (an extreme vulgar mashup of the two)
Keep up the great work! Love your reactions. Haven't heard this in forever
Can we not forget Ken kuniff lol
@Academia Of The Absurd no idea but don't worry I reminded u lok
You need to listen to 97 Bonnie and Clyde next, it released the year before but chronologically in the story picks up right after Kim. Then finally after that would be nice to see you react to Bad Husband, Em’s apology that he made 17 years later
This song, while not being for the light hearted, would have to be considered by many to be an emotional masterpiece.
Your stories are always chilling man, honestly your reactions are golden and seeing you be so mentally stable and optimistic after everything you went through and try to get the best out of life makes me really happy and optimistic too
Thanks so much!!
I think you really would enjoy «Love The way you lie» by Eminem and Rihanna. I really hope to see a reaction on that song from you!
No. His money maker is when "rap god" is on the play list . Mad respect 🙏

LOL
True
You definitely need to listen to ‘Bad Husband’ next - his apology to Kim
He says he regrets this song. It’s scary because when you are in those toxic relationships, this is so relatable.
Glad you saw it as him venting! Because that’s exactly what this song was to him. He even apparently played it at a concert with Kim in the audience, such intense emotion
This hit hard. Becouse of my past.
Im so happy im free from that now. But the scars are there forever.
Thanks for sharing your story 💛
Thanks so much. So sad that you can relate to this one so closely.
When i saw this video on my recommendations I turned into the 😬 emoji.
Apprehensively stoked for this!
That makes two of us!
Thanks so much!
12:25 Apparently he recorded this song in one take and he really poured his heart out here. You can definitely tell and hear his pain
On a personal note, my heart was so sad to hear your childhood experiences with DV. I'm living in a DV transitional housing myself at the moment, and my biggest concern is that my children will have those same haunting memories for their lives. Horrible stuff. Hugs from me to you!
Thanks so much! Our childhood certainly paves the way for things like this, but it can also make you stronger.
thank you for always a great reaction and always telling stories
Thanks Isaac!
No waaaaaaaaaaaay you did a reaction to this song , you're the best ever hahahaha, never would of expected it
I haven't looked yet, but I hope u did 97 Bonnie and Clyde too, it's a part 2 to this song!
97 bonnie and Clyde is the sequel to this - should be your next listen!
Wow, thanks for sharing your experience.
Thanks for sharing your story.
Thank you John!
Eek 😬 I’ve been waiting on this!! I’ve been worried you weren’t prepared for this one. So thrilled you decided to do it. Haha. Just noticed you posted 1 day before my birthday. Kinda a birthday gift because I have been waiting on this reaction. 🤣
Thanks for the comments, Shell!
“Bad Husband” is to “Kim” as “Headlights” is to “Cleaning Out My Closet.”
I appreciate the artistic value of it - the vocal performance of the various characters (but especially just the pure rage and passion from his POV), the storytelling, etc.
Haha, been waiting for this one, also the transition to the next song on the album always got me.
Oh shit! Deep intake of breath from me! I see a reaction for '97 Bonnie and Clyde (the pre recorded sequel?) from you on my right too... Just remember Mockingbird. Em is a good person as well as a troubled person...
You just have to appreciate how he writes the story and paints a picture with his words. Wee shout out for the voice acting as well 💯😂
Also Damn i never knew you had that kind of upbringing...
I've seen him 3 times but never saw this live. I did see him do cleaning out my closet which he don't do at shows anymore.
This song is universal. Everyone has that special someone that just... Yk...? FUCKS THEM UP so emotionally. 😢 Just deep RAW emotion~ ❤
Easily one of the darkest songs he's made & the fact that you stuck through it (which a lot of reaction channels won't do) makes me respect you all the more mate.
His darker songs make you understand/respect who he's grown into as an artist as he's progressed
❤️❤️
i had the same experience you described when you were a kid. almost totally identical. wild what adults just do without thinking of the effects later down the road.
Thank you for sharing your story. I can 100% relate. It’s terrifying for a child, you never forget. It can cause ptsd, and other psychiatric problems. Sadly many times it’s a cycle and history repeats itself. You have to break the cycle. I used to listen to this top volume in my bedroom when I was like 13
Love you more - Eminem next please. Its kind of part 2
Crazy that he’s rapping both parts- him and Kim. Maybe he will perform this at his rock and roll hall of fame induction.
I don’t think he’d ever perform this song again; I’m pretty sure he’s said that in interviews that he wouldn’t. He can’t/doesn’t even listen to it
yo its my 3rd comment today on one your vids.
I like the deep stuff more like when im gone and so on. BUT this is rap. better you rap about this things than actually doing it. This guy is so fucked up and on the other side he is so smart and down to earth. gotta love him. best ever. Dont know where i would be without rap music
Thanks so much!
This song is performance art.
(A scary thought, but maybe if he hadn't got rap as an outlet, he'd actually done what he acted out here...)
When I got this album as a kid (I know, right? :D But I didn't understand a lot back then - was just starting to learn english), and listened to it from beginning to end countless times, this song became a skip for me after the first couple of times. I've started to listen to it a few times in the last... maybe 5 years, and it actually became a good one to come back to, for me. I appreciate the art of it, the movie-like quality, Em's acting (even if it's veeeery heavily inspired by his true mindstate of that time, so it was probably not that hard of an acting job :D), and the MUSIC. I love the "beat" actually.
damn...ur story really shows how you can be cut deep and keep feeling it for a long time after... hold strong man!
Thanks so much!
I absolutely love your Eminem reactions. I’m so glad you understood it was like an artistic expression of real emotions people In similar situations resort too.
He has a lot of dark material I’ve been nervous about you discovering. He has a lot of dark serial killer type material. But it’s honestly incredible work.
Thanks so much!
Hmm, how do you mean? The listen has already happened and simultaneously not? 😛I don't get this metaphor in this context
How he managed to get this song made onto a studio album is completely mind blowing
Love ur Eminem reaction videos !! Keep them coming ! Greetings from Romania !💪🙏
Maybe the third time I´m hearing that song. Big big Eminem fan but this song is haunting for me. All the pain, deception and anger is so raw. You feel it all with him. Always a skip when listening to mmlp. Great storytelling tho. You should do Bad husband next. :)
Mate I've watched almost every rap reaction and it makes me so happy uou appreciating the music for the artistry it is
4 your eyez only by j cole! Heartbreaking and heartwarming story at the same time. Definitely worth a listen!
nice job catching the Stan correlation, but you got it in reverse. Stan referenced this song. "Hey Slim, that's my girlfriend screamin' in the trunk
But I didn't slit her throat, I just tied her up, see I ain't like you
'Cause if she suffocates she'll suffer more, and then she'll die too". The sounds at the end on this track were slim dragging kim's body out of the trunk and dumping it from a bridge. "Well, gotta go, I'm almost at the bridge now
Oh shit, I forgot, how am I supposed to send this shit out?"
You have to listen to the interview with Kim. She talks about how he is as a husband and father. She also talks about him performing this song with her in the audience
She also tried to kill herself after that concert 😕
I know I am late to the party but Stan was mimicking Shady in his song. Also, Em does something similar in the slim shady LP. I think it's called '97 Bonnie and Clyde.
Man Kim used to be the taboo song my friends lured me in with. My parents got me the censored version of the album and I only knew of Kim from my buddy's uncensored cd. Think had I to be around 13-14 and this song felt so wrong to listen to, which has always cemented it into my brain.
But the song Kids on the censored version was good tho 😂
@@sd_gam3s Kids is an instant classic for me don't get me wrong. I kinda love that it was hidden in the censored cd
bruh the uncensored mmlp?
@@AloneInThePark went back and edited the comment 😂 the censored version. In replace of the song Kim was a song called The Kids. Took inspiration from South Park based on the voices he used in that song. It’s actually pretty funny.
@@TropicalHat420 didn’t realized I wrote uncensored in my message. 😂 went back and changed it. But it was a classic on its own and not a lot of people know about it. I was a freshman in high school when this album came out so when I bought the cd on my own I didn’t realize it was the censored version until I started listening to it. But I kept it and when I got more money from my job I got the uncensored version and that’s when I heard Kim. Crazy times it was. Glad I grew up in the 90s and 2000s when it was all happening.
