The fact that her parents DIDNT want to let her go out by herself is scary. The moment they let her go on a vacation alone, she tragically dies. @@Dikshant62 WAIT! I just found out that a guy went to the hotel to check the elevator and it turns out that under that row of buttons she pushed theres axtually a button to hold the elevator open and still for about 2 minutes. And that button doesnt light up, so she could have pushed it and we wouldnt be able to see it in this video
Some elevators have a hold button that staff use when they're loading luggage into/out of an elevator and it'll take a while. This is usually a feature on freight and staff-only area elevators, but some smaller hotels (or at least, ones that see less guest traffic) have the feature on their public elevators rather than putting in separate elevators just for the purpose. She probably pressed the hold button. These can delay the elevator for set time intervals (usually 1-5 minutes) or as an on/off feature (but those are pretty rare these days for safety reasons, and might not even be legal in the US anymore). She probably hit a delay button as she was going down the list.
I don’t think there was anyone outside the elevator. When she initially walks into the elevator she doesn’t look in distress. I think she hides in the corner to see if there is someone holding the button. When she jumps out it sort of seems like a “got you” moment. When she realises there’s no one there I think the erratic hand movements is her trying to see if there was anything physically stopping the door from closing. She then looks frustrated , grabbing her hair and playing with her hands. The second time she gets into the elevator she presses heaps of buttons. She seems just as confused as to why the door isn’t closing as we are.
she already enters a behavior of despair this her theory does not make any sense, she was not wearing those shoes are very different, I believe there is someone else in the elevator
@@suellenandrade2815 if she enters in despair she wouldn’t have stood in the corner so still. I’m sure if you were scared you would be pacing back and forth. She didn’t start pacing till she realised the door wasn’t closing. And the shoe definitely looks like hers it doesn’t appear until she starts to exit the frame and it lifts the moment she’s walking away
It couldn't have been a ghost, she had to have been murdered by a staff working at the hotel. You'd think that they would release camera footage from the roof, but they refused to release it. I'd also like to point out that you would need a special kind of keycard to gain access to the roof. So it was obviously a staff member. I think she was raped and then murdered by a staff and then was placed in a water tank to hide evidence. Overall, I think that the hotel staff are trying to hide this from us.

Not an expert on elevators, but I assume that it stayed open simply because it operates by detecting motion. They are built that way in an effort to keep them from shutting while someone is still in the process of stepping in or out. Elisa repeatedly darted in and out of the thing the entire time she was there. As far as the elevator is concerned, it wasn't going to shut until she was out of the way, which is, probably, why we saw it abruptly do so as soon as she disappeared from view.
I feel she was murdered and that it was one of the staff she was found dead on the roof you need a special key card to get into and I think the elevator was shut down
Michelle Cena Nah me either, you’re fine lol. I’m just confused bc when she first got on it, she was fine though, but the doors didn’t budge at all for a few long moments. Don. Why would the LAPD blur out the timestamp on the video they released? So that tells us people are putting in the effort to mislead and thus we will never get the complete thruth about this.
There probably isn't audio. I don't believe in ghosts. I do work in, and on top of elevators. Someone could have been on top of the elevator. The door operation can be controlled from the top, and you would be looking around wildly if someone was talking to you from the top as well.

What really creeps me out is that we can only see her but she was seeing something else. Something that was on the scene and on the spot, even if we can’t see
This video was spliced a few places at least. The elevator closing for the first time. Also interestingly what indicates a minute passing takes ~80 seconds from 0:00 to 1:20 and then 1:20 to 2:41. Okay, strange but consistent. However it changes again after 7 seconds 2:41 to 2:48. There is a light shift at 2:29 the frame after Elisa's foot exits view completely. There is also a light shift in 2:34. Again at 2:50. Now the elevator close. Keep you on the bottom panel. The first frame of 2:58 has a blur that you will be able to see in the bottom panel, the floor tiles, and the reflection of the top and bottom sections of the elevator wall. The second frame the door magically partially closed. The third and subsequent frames we aren't blurred anymore. Now, The open and closes. I believe that the last open and everything we before the door close are the same place. The first open after the door close at 2:58 is different than what we saw previously. Look at the wood, the length is different. Anyway, my wrist is in a lot of pain, i'm stopping.
Ok im confused. I seen a video talking about demons on a channel that's no longer on you tube and it showed this video and what said parts of the video that haven't been seen. This was years ago and in the longer video she comes back into the elevator and is held against the left wall if i remember correctly and appears to be strangled by something invisible to the camera. Now i seen the video and it looked like it was part of the original video no altercations and this was before AI was really being used. Now i cant find that video ANYWHERE??? Does anyone else remember seeing another version of things or watching the video on that other channel??? The channel was lioness of yeshua i think?
Joniqua Alvarez some people think she might of been playing the elevator game which is a ritual too get you into a ‘different world’ however to get to this world a woman will step into the elevator with you on the 5th floor and you shouldn’t look at her or speak to her cause she’s apparently not human
Perhaps the person posdibly a woman asking her to meet up on the top of building where the water tanks are, we might have seen the person if the cctv footage hadn't been erased
Rest in peace. This tape is so unsettling to say the least. This is the last known footage of Elisa and that honestly scares me so much. Stay safe everyone please.
Not to be cheesy, but this still haunts me to this day. Whether she was killed or killed herself, she was found in the hotel water tank. Guests were complaining of the taste/appearance of the water... the DEAD BODY WATER...........
As it says in the documentary, she had bipolar disorder and wasn't taking her pills. Her family mentioned she sometimes had hallucinations which leads to panic attacks, so there might've been nobody with her and she could've been having hallucinations that there was somebody coming to kill her which is why she was acting strange. She went to the rooftop, and saw the water tank as her hiding spot to protect herself. She got in, and took off her clothes to try and swim up because she probably thought the weight of her clothes were pushing her down. But I will respect everyone's theories, so don't feel pressured to follow the same theory as me.
i vibe with this theory a lot ! but there were some people she knew saying that her medication was going ok? and how did she get to the rooftop herself when there were the doors that always started alarming when they were opened? scary.
@@kerttukaroliina9343 She most likley went through out a window to get to the rooftop, and might've been lying to her non-relatives about the whole medication thing. But yes, the whole case is creepy and there isn't enough evidence to say if she was murdered or not. It's kind of weird.
Probably some employee took advantage of her inconvenience and took her to the terrace to abuse her upstairs, since there were no cameras there. She obviously tried to resist, but it was murderous. So, to stand as a witness, the clerk threw the body into the water tank (to get rid of fingerprints), his only mistake was closing the lid. In order for the hotel's image not to get ugly these days after everything that happened, the owner made an agreement with the police to stifle the case as much as possible, which is consistent with the edited videos and insufficient information, making it appear to be a suicide for bipolar disorder.
It’s just so heartbreaking how terrified she must have been, believing someone was coming after her until the last second of her life. I hope she’s happy and well in Heaven.

Elisa had a history of not taking her meds, and in the autopsy report there was hardly any in her system. I believed for the longest time that she was murdered but it’s most respectful to think logically. She was having a bipolar manic episode. She believed somebody was chasing her. During maniac episodes people experience being delusional and hallucinations. In the documentary it alway states that her family says she’s had breakdowns before, some that often led to her being hospitalized. As much as I love the paranormal accepts we can get into this case, we have to think actual logic here and not folklore.

No ones talking about why the elevator door closes that way? It looks like someone edited the video so there is obviously something they don’t want us knowing about.
It's not frightened behavior, though. Anxious, maybe, but not frightened. Her body language throughout the video is 100% playful. She's in the corner waiting to surprise someone who never comes in, or even near. I think someone promised her an illicit nighttime swim in the water tank, and for whatever reason, she trusted them enough not to realize they were avoiding cameras on the way to the roof -- this one in particular. This is a four-minute argument about taking the stairs.
@@Avelcaine make sense tho. I am guessing that she is not trying to make the elevator close but to make it open (?) So the guys who are not detected would go in (?).
@@Avelcaine If she was playful, why did she try to go down when she walked inside the elevator? That doesn't seem like she was waiting for someone, I think that her manic episode got worse after she realized that the elevator was broken. At first... it looks like she’s confused at why the doors won’t close so that kinda explains the weird jumping in & out.. maybe trying to see if they would close? And then she presses all the buttons, again maybe trying to get the doors to close? But then her looking like she’s talking to someone- it doesn’t make sense. @@sophieanderson6263 especially how this was released like after days of her death..and the fact that they said they didn't have any 'cameras' other than the lifts ...
In my opinion most probably Elisa suffered a psychotic break - this can happen even if she was taking her medication. She was afraid someone was after her, the small inconvenience that the elevator wasn’t working triggered her fear. Perhaps she tried to escape from the windows and reached the tab. My hypothesis is that the staff had accidentally left it open and then either closed the tab without paying attention that someone was inside or they were afraid of getting in trouble for leaving the tab open and decided to close it.
This is the exact behavior we saw at the emergency room when homeless people or the people down the street at the halfway house came off their meds or suffered a break with reality. They made all sorts of weird hand movements, spoke with people who were not there, and moved in obsessive-compulsive patterns and generally repeated tics over and over. What you're seeing here is not a person being pursued by a killer or a ghost or a person from another dimension. If there were another person threatening her, she would have run away. Instead, like a person suffering a psychotic break, she is alternating between paranoia and calm, wandering like she does not know where she is, repeating patterns, and fidgeting with her environment. It IS scary to watch. Psychotic breaks are VERY scary to watch. I know. But they are not supernatural, and they require no conspiracy or help from others to occur.
You can Google more info about this, and you'll find that employees at the hotel have revealed that the hatch to the tank is not heavy at all. There was a fire escape that provided easy access. It is very easy to imagine that in her altered state, she took her clothes off and climbed in. It would not be uncommon for somebody in this state to imagine they were overheated, covered in ants, just plain itchy for no apparent reason, or simply to be so dissociated they didn't know what they were doing, and climb right in. Her clothes were set aside, like she took them off and intended to put them back on. They weren't stolen or hidden. Why? Because there was nobody else there to steal or hide them.
Finally someone made this one. In the end this should be very clear, she was sick and took 4 different meds and her friend didn't want to sleep in the same room with her because of "odd behavior". But the tank part still makes me wonder, I mean for a person in this state to climb the ladder to the roof, and then to a 10ft tall tank and then jump in there without clothes on and then closing the hatch is way too fishy.
I think the official story is the truth here. She was having a psychotic attack. She thinks somebody is to out to get her, gets in the lift presses buttons the doors don't close. She thinks someone is out there that is pushing buttons causing the lift not to move. She hides and tries to see, then jumps out of the lift to catch him in surprise. Then she does weird movements because her distress goes up. Then runs to the roof and gets in the water tank to hide or falls in it, but can't get out. Removes her clothes due to hypothermia, and eventually drowns. It is a very sad death. Editing this comment for the many people asking about how she closed the lid: There are different reports if the tank was actually open or not, and a civilian later sneaked into the roof and recorded that half of the tanks were open so I am assuming it was open, or maybe was closed later by one of the staff. If someone closed it don't know how they wouldn't see the body though.
@@nivedj I don't know, maybe it took time for the system to recover after she pressed all the buttons, sometimes happens with electronic stuff. Or maybe it was malfunctioning.
@@nivedj Didn't the investigators later say that it was actually open or something similar? Besides some civilian later climbed to the roof to show how easy it is to do so via fire escape and recorded the area, and half of the tanks were open. Which means they can be open. I'm reading a book right now called Gone At Midnight: The Mysterious Death of Elisa Lam. In the book it says that her autopsy shows there was no water in her lungs. When a person dies from drowning, there's water in their lungs. Just something to think about.
Hi Marcy, I'm reading the same book, and in it Jake covers that. There is such a thing as a "dry drowning" which really I see as asphyxiation, where water will cut off your airway but no water actually fills your lungs. Jake also mentions there are coroner examinations to determine this in the autopsy, but in this case they were not done.
the video was cut after she walks out of frame. 1. The seconds in certain moments are stopped and then resume. 2. When the door finally closes it is already almost halfway, then when the lift goes to the other floors, the door closes starting from the beginning and not from the middle
The scariest thing about this whole case is the people drank the water from the tank she was in. It's still sad though. I'm pretty sure this hotel is closed though.A lot of suicide and murder there.
My mom died during a psychotic episode similar to this. She was afraid of being followed and went somewhere to be alone, but without food. We struggled to understand what happened for the same reasons - it’s so antithetical to what someone in their right mind would do. And yet the mind is a powerful thing. We see killers or the supernatural in these cases because we can’t understand what it’s like to be them. So we can’t imagine how they’d end up this way. If someone you know talks about hearing voices or is paranoid, take it seriously and get them some help. You can save someone’s life. I wish I had
I am very sorry about your mom. I practically disagree with this theory alot, she was talking to someone or she was trying to do something. She looks like she is describing something. If she went into that water tank, how would she close it? There would have been bruises on how her fingers. Now, hiding a body in a water tank is a way to get rid of fingerprints. I think she was about to be sex****** assaulted. Assuming her state when found she wasn't though. Plus, if she had an epsiode you need to be specific. Did her family ever say she had such epsiodes for the 22 years of living? She was killed and we refuse to except this, it was a horrible death. If she went up the fire escape she was running obviously. It was most likely a former hotel staff from when she was staying. The police might already know but haven't revealed the info. If this had happened it was maybe two men. Relating to your theory if she had done so, the person who Left her body closed the tank and just left her there, or the tank top just fell magically. I am so sorry for your mom. No one deserves the pain of their mom dying please take care of yourself :)

One thing I've always wondered about this video.. why I think someone set her up. Is how long the door stayed open. Like she was in the elevator for SO long and the door never once closed until she walked away... Like someone was holding it opening until she gave up using it.

I've been on hundreds of elevators in my 55 years of life and never ran across one where the doors stayed open that long.
Absolutely
Some elevators have a fence plus the door, the door wont close until you close the fence
It looked like she pressed a ton of buttons so she may have messed it up somehow that way
55? and you know how to type a comment on youtube? wow
She seems just as confused as to why the door isn’t closing as we are.

we shouldve been able to see it; ghosts make common occurrence on cameras but we cant see them with our own eyes

@@lrecklessl did you watch the Netflix documentary? Have you done some research? The police dogs had her scent leading all the way up to a fire escape that led to the roof. Elisa had a history of not taking her meds, and in the autopsy report there was hardly any in her system. I believed for the longest time that she was murdered but it’s most respectful to think logically. She was having a bipolar manic episode. She believed somebody was chasing her. During maniac episodes people experience being delusional and hallucinations. the way she hides in the corner is terrifying me
It's not frightened behavior, though.

But what does she do with her hands at 1:57
At first... it looks like she’s confused at why the doors won’t close so that kinda explains the weird jumping in & out.. maybe trying to see if they would close? And then she presses all the buttons, again maybe trying to get the doors to close? But then her looking like she’s talking to someone- it doesn’t make sense.
I'm pretty sure she didn't take the stabilisers, which probably led to this.
The behavior indicates a psychotic break or possible drug use to me. Your theory seems most probable.
Thank you "Doctor."
Its not opinion, its a fact now. Her sister confirmed she was on medication for extreme bipolar disorder
I know. But they are not supernatural, and they require no conspiracy or help from others to occur.
i understand that but how did she end it up inside the water tank? thats what i just m
I definitely agree. That's what I figured when I read the story & learned she was on 4 different medications. It's definitely very scary.
thats cool man. The story still creepy but you gave me some good answers
Good explanation, but how did the lift door close right when she left
@@nivedj I don't know, maybe it took time for the system to recover after she pressed all the buttons, sometimes happens with electronic stuff. Or maybe it was malfunctioning.
@@thenomad4123 and you know, the lid of the tank was closed until some worker opened it and found her body. Could be a murder?

My mom died during a psychotic episode similar to this. She was afraid of being followed and went somewhere to be alone, but without food. We struggled to understand what happened for the same reasons - it’s so antithetical to what someone in their right mind would do. And yet the mind is a powerful thing.
We see killers or the supernatural in these cases because we can’t understand what it’s like to be them. So we can’t imagine how they’d end up this way.
If someone you know talks about hearing voices or is paranoid, take it seriously and get them some help. You can save someone’s life. I wish I had

@@ibot1180 Yeah like do they know what death metal is its like about murder and stuff like that
It really looks like part of the video was cut bc at one point it’s still open then the next second it’s almost half way closed
Yes, i think they cut the video
I feel bad for that Morbid guy. He deserves apologies from the people who accused him of murder.
Same here. 🤚🏻
me too this Phänomenon we see now during the pandemic
@dua iqbal that's his passion , chill out
YES!!!! His life is ruined! But he’s also an I D I O T for egging it on!!!
@dua iqbal he is creepy but this not s excuse to call him a murder, on a place he was not even there at the time of the event
Looks like she is going through a psychotic episode, She seems not afraid, more in exited curiosity,
It doesn't look like a psychotic episode at all to me... usually the symptoms are anger, fear, euphoria, alucination and so on. Excitement is more a symptom of mania episodes. She looks to me as someone who is concerned and confused, she's way too calm for a psychotic or mania episode. Obviously I can't be sure but that's what I think based on the fact that I recently graduated in psychology and worked in hospital with a lot of this cases during graduation, but like I said I can't be sure.
@@kelycprn I've known someone who showed these similar symptoms, he thought he could fly, so we kept the windows locked. Fear or anger seemed not very noticeable. Yet, these were psychotic episodes. And I agree, in the case of Elisa, we can't be sure.
@@deren2001 I've read something on Reddit about this case, and it has all the details about the medication she was supposedly taking for bipolar disorder. There were some she wasn't taking and some she was which may explain why she does seem to be going through a manic episode and not a psychotic one. It's very sad to be honest.
@@kelycprn Here I found something on the DSM net; "Psychosis in bipolar disorder can happen during manic or depressive phases. But it's more common during manic episodes. People who have bipolar psychosis experience a combination of symptoms." either both is very sad...I'm still haunted about her case since I read it
@@deren2001 me too, but i dont understand why the door is always open and then close, and then open, and then close, and his phone was not found(?)... its so strange...
One day one of us will find the truth. Rest In Peace Elisa. You are not forgotten

Highly unlikely. This will be forgotten like all other mysterious deaths.
@m c i might not be a homicde you dont know that dont act all detective
@m c Do you have any evidence like videos that have never been seen where you there No? Didnt think so just stop
@The-Lonely-Janitor 659 It's not always the ones with a name out there who get killed.
2021 and still has not found it out.
Seeing this 11 years after it was published, It's so scary because im saying to myself that she was probably talking to someone in that corridor, but we won't ever know what that was, and the way the door didn't close while she was inside of the elevator, but then closes when she leaves...
💯💯
I’m watching this on Netflix with my sister and my first thought is “she is being followed or stalked” this video still gives me chills
That's the way I felt.
I think someone followed Tumblr and possibly followed her to the hotel.
@@ritadmn3824 I agree
@@ritadmn3824 im sure that she imagined that some one was following her because of her bipolar disorder
same definitely! after watching the whole thing in netflix they said the elevator stays open for 2 minutes after you press the hold button and the last she pressed it....in between the time the door closed...there’s an ENTIRE 60 seconds missing. 60 seconds on the dot. an entire minute was clipped from the film. i think they’re protecting someone. whether they had to do with her disappearance or not- they definitely clipped the film.
WHAT IN TF IS THE ELEVATOR OPENING AND CLOSING AFTER SHE WAS GONE? LIKE TF?
It looked like she pressed a lot of levels, so it’s probably running through the levels
@@rubenrosenkilde8838 i mean it got stuck up for a moment when she was gone and then it starts to open and close
@@sharmainemontoya2405 while she was there, the doors refused to close, but as soon as she left the elevator started moving and went through all the levels, since she pressed all the buttons. kinda feel like her presence made the elevator not wanting to move xsd
@Tiam Torabi yes she pressed on the buttons, but why it didn't close while she was outside the elevator? like she stayed outside the elevator for a min (like without even censoring her hands so that the elevator won't close), why it didn't close?
@@asclepius8374 yeah thought of that too haha

What? Some people do lol 😂

Currently watching the Netflix documentary and had to watch it again. Still creeps me out
what's the name please?

Is it good
Play the video @ 1.25X speed... gives it a whole other feel of creepiness. She appears to be frightened, and can’t get the door to close. The video has clearly been doctored too... watch the clicking of the timer, it isn’t smooth after she leaves for the last time, and the last time the door opens, it almost looks like it’s a different time of day with the brightness of the hallway.
Thank god there was no jump scare

This shit just triggered my anxiety . This is by far the creepiest surveillance video I ever seen.
Hello! I have something to share with you. It is from the Bible, which was inspired by the Lord:
“The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you.
Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”
Poor young girl, I really feel sorry for her. I hope that after death there's something more beautiful, better and safer for all of us than life on earth. Rest in peace Elisa

Hey bung ,dunia itu tidak ada apa-apa, dunia itu kosong, tidak ada surga dan neraka
Why wouldn't the door close when nobody was stood there and then she was like touching something that wasn't there, something is extremely eeery about this
Hotel is old af. So is their elevator. She pressed all the flicking levels so maybe elevator was malfunctioned for a bit.
when she was touching something that wasn’t there my sister said what if she was trying to reach for the elevator to see if it was still there or if it had closed,as if she couldn’t see it.
@@aviross4084 That actually seems possible. She did bend down really close to the buttons when she pressed them as if it was hard for her to see them.
i honestly think that the elevator is either just the worst, or a staff member (i suppose 2 bc of what i’m about to say) was watching her through the camera controlling the elevator, while another one was threatening her in the hallway.
hotel elevators have a button to keep the door open for 2 minutes on them to aid moving stuff
Why on earth did the doors stay open for so long?? On every other floor the doors opened for a seconds, then closed. Even with her pressing the buttons she did, they shouldn't have stayed open for so long. What is going on there?
openskies11 She also apparently pressed the Hold Open button which holds the doors open for 2 minutes. She was either intentionally stalling the elevator or was unable to understand what she was doing.
+gotehorn how do you know she hit hold open? I didnt see any changes in the elevator lights when the doors finally did close.....
+HilarityBribo Read my comments about the video being cut before the door closes. So we don't know what happened during that missing time.. Others who have analyzed the buttons and lights say she hit the hold open button
+openskies11 watch how far door was opened at 0.05 then watch at 3.18 and 3.46 ( use slowmo of youtube). the door was opened too far first time. maybe thats why the door was not closing because it was stuck. now was it
automatically closed at 2.58? I dont think so. there was something going on at 2.57. there was was a edit i think.
+openskies11 notice how when she presses the last button, the door begina to close but then reopens. She definitely hit the door hold button. Source: Elevator Expert
The fact that this has no audio. It wouldve greatly helped the case. You sure this is the only tape offered by the hotel?
