11:44 - Big agree there, sir. I started with just a few key light switches to automate with turning on computers and office fan in the morning. Added some LED Lights under the cabinet to turn on at a certain time and then just exploded into virtually every switch in my house. I also have either/several motion/temperature/humidity/presence sensors in all of the key rooms.
I can certainly agree with virtually (well everything actually) you have said. I use both HE and HA (for non-automation people this is HUBITAT Elevation and Home Assistant). We have had several power outages and I can tell you that when starting out, I had a bear of a time to try and get back into my Home Assistant hub through the web interface, but never have I had a single issue with getting my HUBITAT to work. The HUBITAT hubs are a beast and they start out with being able to integrate with Wi-Fi, Zigbee and ZWave. Home Assistant requires dongles for Zigbee and Z-Wave devices and the hub is also double the price (not even including the extra dongles).
Yes, you can do more with Home Assistant, and it has gotten easier to work with, but there's no beating how easy it is to set up automations with the HUBITAT Elevation. You don't have to be tech/programmer savvy to create automations (first few days of getting up and going are the most challenging, as you have said - so big agree there). I also do like that if you have a more complicated automation, you can basically copy the automation and paste it into a new one if your concept is the same, but just a few different devices. IE. If you want your porch lights to turn on if motion is first detected in the foyer and then the door opens (person is moving from inside the house to outside), and you already have an automation that turns on the garage light when the laundry room detects motion before the garage door is opened - you can easily copy/paste this automation with HUBITAT and tweek it a bit. You can do this with HA also, but again HUBITAT automations are so much easier to set up without you being required to check the forums and hope someone else had a similar automation.
If all of the devices you have will integrate into HUBITAT, then I certainly wouldn't switch over to anything else. It's robust, easy to backup/restore (even though I have not needed to use the restore feature). I use a few devices that don't play nicely with Hubitat, so I still use primarily HA, but even that being said if my HUBITAT were to crash, I would immediately buy a new one.
Fine video, sir. I am pretty sure it was on your insight that I got into home automation and got the HUBITAT. Well this has been kind of a long post, so hopefully the 50 replies you would've gotten about Home Assistant will be far less as I may have covered them 😁

Wow more there is an extensive post with a ton of great information. I have yet to try home assistant simply because I don't have the need....yet. I never thought when I bought it I would appreciate it as much as I do.
I'm glad my recommendation was a good one for you as that's always the intention of the channel. I hate buying a product that disappoints, so when I find something good I like the chance to share it.
You're totally correct with saying you need a little something, and you get it set up in hubitat then, next thing you know your mind starts to think of other simple convenient things that would be nice to have around the home. I honestly don't know where I would be without mine. Cheers to hubitat.
Thanks for taking the time to leave a detailed post for the others that are curious about the device. Have yourself a Merry Christmas, and a happy new year. Enjoy the time with your friends or family.!

I dumped SmartThings for Hubitat a few months ago, and haven't regretted it yet.

Great to hear you like yours as well, funny how these devices can grow on you too where you can't remember life without them.

Keeps getting better. Very cool. I have my Wuuk, tested 2 cameras so far. We have some inclement weather, so I'm going to wait to mount the cameras. Pretty impressed so far. Thumbs up and ad revenue for you, kind sir.

Switching to Hubitat, Home Assistant crashes every couple of days, done! Will be using it with Apple Home.

Enjoy the switch, the first hour of hubitat is the worst, after that everything is better.

How did you decide on switches to use? I'm new and trying to figure out the best switches to get to build out a system that has automation and can work with quality sensors.

I read through reviews and picked a protocol, most zigbee switched act like a repeater adding range, I think zwave does as well, but found more options in zigbee that's why I choose it.

Turned out to an unreliable pile of turd for me. Very unstable and unreliable. NONE of my Zwave/Zigbee Kasa and Leviton devices worked properly in either Homekit or Google Home….EVER! The final straw was when most of my devices became unstable in my Hubitat dashboard. Hours of fruitless tinkering. No better (equally as bad, actually) as Hone assistant.

If both home assistant and hubitat aren't working for you I would be looking at what you're connecting or your setup. Something sounds very wrong with your setup, I highly doubt it's the device. Router firewall?
