Abandoned- Classy home built around 1939/1940. Beautiful retro interiors with some nice additions

- Hey explorers and house lovers! This video I take you through one of two neighbouring homes I recently explored just in the nick of time before the salvage process destroyed them as they are destined for demolition. This one is marked as 1955 for a build date on real estate sites but as you watch the video I point out a few aspects of the interiors that would suggest an earlier build date. Due to this I asked my friend researcher Julie Anne Turner is she could help once again with digging up some land titles and once again she came up with the goods and indeed the dates indicate to a late 30`s initial build date. Lots to love about this house and including art deco and grand tudor influences. Mostly retro kitchen and bathroom too! Entire home is mostly original apart from a nice extension of a large sunroom with small bar. The neighboring home was built 1935 and I will be uploading that one next to keep the continuity of these two explores. Hope you enjoy.

Those floors, fire places, wood work and the bathroom are gorgeous. Have you ever looked at a house that got saved at the last moment...
Hi Sonya, yes in fact a house right at the back of this one is still standing and has occupants now after it was on a demo list last year when I filmed it :-)
What a beautiful home this could be. Nothing built these days can compare to the craftsmanship and pride that went into homes of a long bygone time. Houses had "personality" then. Unlike today. I hope it doesn't get put on the demo list. I wish the historic preservation laws were stricter and carried out. So often they are not and we lose another piece of history 😢
People today don’t appreciate these old gems. Some of them could easily be turned into beauties.
I wish they would stop tearing down all these beautiful homes....If I lived there...developers would hate me cuz I would NOT sell
Haha love that attitude Babydoll, I think I would be the same! Cheers for watching :-)
With his horseshoe belt, buckled shoes, purple tie and yellow socks.
He is right in style in this house.
I love older houses , this one was beautiful , but sad that its going , the art deco fire place was great.
Glad you enjoyed Caroline :-) Thanks for watching
What a lovely art deco era house.
I love old houses like these.
Thanks for the tour.
The house may have been "Tidied" in the 1950's, but there are so many beautiful features from the thirties. The sheer width of the timbers on the floors (First Growth) now worth big money. The Hand Crank Doorbell (The Postman always rings twice) The Town planners closed both eyes, and Stamped the re-development orders. Kid from that room probably went to Geelong Grammar. (Wish I Had) Cheers!
Cheers for watching again Gary and great comments as usual :-)
Awesome home! It's criminal that they are tearing down all these beautiful houses. So much character, those original features are just awesome!! I'd love to live in a house like this one. Looking forward to seeing the next one if you can get in! 😊
That place is fantastic looking, it's to bad it has to go, love the fireplaces and woodwork.
It sure was, very stylish home in great condition still :-)
What a beauty. I got a 1940s vibe cos of the brick and the bars ovet the sash windows on the front right of this house. Those art deco doors with the glass and stained wooden trim remind me of Poirot's house 😍😍😍😍😆
It is quite evident, the builders of this home, took great pride with their craftsmanship. The home is quite beautiful, even in it's current state.
I agree with you I would take that over these new ones they are building.
Yep, without hesitation Carroll, glad you agree :-)
How stunning that wood feature would hve been in it’s high days .. awesome once again. 👍🏼
Thanks for watching again Mark! Cheers mate :-)
Thanks for bringing us all these awesome explores. Very enjoyable. Hate to see these older houses go.
My pleasure JD, glad you are enjoying them mate! :-)
Love the fireplaces. Love the layout too cause it's unique, enjoyed this explore
Hi Paul,I loved this beautiful home n that door bell how original ,I really would love to renovate it if I could I'm like you I love the character of those old homes n the art Deco fascinante me can't wait to see the other one have a safe weekend 🤗 from a Frenchy in Australia 🇫🇷🇦🇺🤗
Hi Francoise :-) Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed this one too. Yep will have the next door home up next. Enjoy your weekend also :-)
Paul; "Look at the door bell."
(Door bell rings) Paul; " OPPS!!!"
😄😃😂🤗🤗 I luv your videos.
Haha I did not think it was going to work! :-)
What a beauty! The fireplaces and the glass doors are just beautiful! I would live there in a heartbeat.
I think this one is my favorite of all you've toured. Thank you for sharing it with us.
My pleasure Julie, so glad you enjoyed seeing this one too! Neighbour home will be posted next :-)
What a beautiful home. Awesome retro features. The wood floors and panels are gorgeous. This house is amazing
So sad these beauties are torn down😕. The woodwork throughout the house, the glass in the French doors, the Art Deco fireplaces destroyed to build cheap built boxes without character! Glad you were able to video before it was torn down.
This house was amazing! Thank you! I can't believe that all this beautiful wood will be destroyed... the wooden wall panneling, the gorgeous parquet floor... Such a waste, unless they find a way to salvage this before destruction and resell the floor and pannels. But it's very sad that no one in charge feels such vintage houses are worth something and need to be preserved as testimonies of architectural history. In France where I am from, I think that similar houses would be more valued.
Mate I don't how you keep up with all these classic old homes being demolished, can't be to many old houses left at this rate, cheers for the explore bud.🍻👍
There are heaps left mate but soon the numbers will dwindle and dwindle......Thanks for watching :-)
Really love this house, the fireplaces were beautiful. Nice comfortable kitchen. What a shame it is now gone. Thanks for the video
Glad you enjoyed it William, thanks for watching :-)
This home is beautiful me I would take a older home over a new one thank you for sharing 😊
What a great place. The fireplaces were really nice, I don't understand why anyone would cover up a nice wood floor with ugly carpet. Good video. Thanks
Hi randi, yeah the carpets were well worn too so been there a long time. Cheers for watching :-)
Lovely home. Thank you.
Thank you! 😊 glad you enjoyed Joan :-)
I love this house too. The woodwork is spectacular! Thanks?
I love this little Deco style cottage. Would. Love to live in it. Has good vibes
If I could have that house, I would remodel that kitchen and make it bigger , other than that it's a beautiful house
This house is huge with a huge yard!
It sure is Claire as is the neighbour which I will post next, thanks for watching :-)
As always ..... great vid!
I really enjoyed that home. Would love to have one like that. Don't build like they did back in the day. 💞
Glad you enjoyed it Jana :-) Thanks for watching
Love this house! Gorgeous!
Thank you for sharing.
You are so welcome Anita :-)
I liked that one, was nice and roomy and large lot. Like those fireplaces!! ☮️
Beautiful house. I love the blue tile in the kitchen and the inside doors are beautiful. The fireplace is really unique, I've never seen anything like it. It's really too bad this house is going to waste, a real shame.
I’m so glad you showed the plank floors. A shame the house will be demolished. I love all the wood. In America those kitchen cabinets would’ve been from the 80’s.
This place is so cute.
I love the tiling in the bathroom!!
So glad that you document the houses👍😃
I am in love with this house. The pretty backyard with the flagstone pavers, covered patio, sun room, fireplaces, that awesome old timey kitchen! The beautiful glass doors, the pocket door, the gorgeous real wood floors. That doorbell! The woodwork! The built-ins. Real tilework...I even love the antique doorknobs. I would buy this house in a heartbeat.
And it will be destroyed to make room for "some monstrosity planned for these two lots". I feel like crying.
I love the internal double doors leading in to the lounge room!
This house is so beautiful,,,I could see having a pool table in that 1st room...
Love Your accent!!
I love that house. The woodwork could be restored and the fireplaces updated. Love the lay out. I would have hardwood floors throughout. It has so much potential.
That room in the back look like a sunroom very popular back then could be an add-on lovely house
I agree this house built in 1939 or 1940 it's a beautiful house, I just love the kitchen and the woodwork, it's a shame that no one lives to enjoy?
Hi Yvonne thanks for watching :-) So much to like about this one for sure, yes has been vacant for nearly 2 years waiting for development plans to be approved......bummer!
Great explore, these past 3 houses have been very lovely, like a little cleaning and they would be turn key . I have become very fond of art deco and these fireplaces and the metal ceiling designs in the one yesterday are beautiful. I am just glad that someone salvages lots of the things. Ty for this explore. Be safe and God bless 😊 nancy in ga. Usa
Another beautiful old home sacrificed on the altar of progress. It's a real shame that the parquet floor is probably unsalvageable. That design usually comes up in pieces. The art deco fireplaces were grand. My Great Aunt had a doorbell like that one. Us kids were forbidden to ring it. We were fascinated with it. Glad you got to this one in time. Townhouses (shudder) what a waste. Hope you have a good weekend.
Haha imagine the noise if you kids were allowed to ring it! lol :-) Glad you enjoyed this home too Lynne, thanks for watching :-)
The light in the kitchen was probably from the 60's cause my Auntie had them in her family room. The one over the table could be pulled down. Love the fire places especially the one that looked like a sun. The bathroom would have had the 'light it up yourself' water heater in the corner next to the window. Used to have to light one of them up myself as a kid to have a bath or shower. You can tell by the way the pipes come across the end from the wall to the bath. Beautiful house, like you said could easily live in that one too.
OMG how beautiful this home is the hardwood doors stained glass the art Deco fireplace& all the counter space in the kitchen. I could definitely have lived in this home! Thank you so much for getting it on video you do such a great job of showing homes!! You're in Australia is that correct? I live in Verona Missouri way far away we have some abandon homes also buildings in Aurora and they are from early 1930s and 1940'S I myself would love to look in there but they have turned them into restaurants and Antique shops but you never get to go up stairs where all the good stuff is! LOL😀 Have a great day and stay safe!
Wow!! Not too far from being close to 100 years old, and then another 2 beautys will be lost forever.😢😭
Only saved for the world thanks to you. If the buildings you film could talk they would say "thank you"💖
Yep this one would have a lot to say I think Ruth, thanks for watching :-)
Such a shame another home being demolished. I loved the fireplaces . Can't wait to see next door.
Hi Silversurfer! Glad you enjoyed, yep next door home will be next video :-)
I like the "back room" that was added on.
I loved the styling and floorplan of this house. sweet!! Thanks for documenting this beautiful home before it's gone!
My pleasure Carla, glad you enjoyed :-)
Awesome content, its a shame a lot of these house are to be demolished. keep up the good work, in documenting these historic buildings.
Cheers Ian :-) Thanks for the support, I will document as many as possible, glad you are enjoying. It is a shame though to know they are doomed though
@@urbexindigo5164 I just admire the carpentry and ceiling shields, you would pay a fortune today, to have that level of craftsmanship.
Hi Paul,, hey this is a gem 1930s-40s
syndrome ,,, " if it ain't broke don't mend-it"
kidda the only new thing in that house was you mate
its a walk-in museum, incredible
all fixtures n fittings from day one
those doors n door knobs crazy
if your on a renovation those items there would cost you an arm n a leg,,,only down side for me that is to live in that house is its to dark all that wood around the walls in dark stain
cost a fortune in lecci bills to light to place
surprise only one cracked wall
that could be fixed ,yeah like it
Paul seeya in the next vid
Ed
Hi Ed thanks for stopping bye mate! :;-) Yeah the house was a bit dark for sure and only one significant crack. Will upload the neighbour next :-)
You are the best Urbex at showing us detail , such as ceilings , floors , door handles , lighting and fireplaces, most urbex fly over the details and that is annoying especially in older homes and of course millionaire homes. Thank you for showing us another wonderful old home.🏠🤗
My pleasure and thanks for the support Talk Talk. Well I am lucky to have such a great subscriber base who love homes and features in homes so if I upload a lot of empty but nice home I know you guys are still going to enjoy the explore for the architecture and interiors :-) Thanks for watching :-)
Such a nice house. Lovely layout too.
Great home 🏡 🙌 👌 nice video
Nhà còn khá mới , nguyên vẹn , bỏ hoang tiếc quá bạn ah , thanhk video của bạn
What a shame, beautiful woodwork. Love the fireplaces. I’ve always loved old/new lighting with the little hurricane lamps. Had a few in my home. I could live there with no problems.
Glad you enjoyed it pamela, thanks for watching :-)
My house needs demoed, i would take that first house in a heartbeat.....sad sad waste thank you for sharing
Yeah so many nice homes knocked down instead of dumps! :-) Thanks for watching Daven :-)
@@urbexindigo5164 You got it bud, stay safe and be well
Beautiful home - guess it makes way for a few more homes? A huge plot!
A lot of the wood flooring and doors. And other things. Could be repurposed for another house. Houses were built better back then. Very expensive now and throwed together. I love the two beautiful fireplaces. Shame it's being torn down. Thanks for your video. Have a great day.
Hi Patricia, very nice wood work indeed, thanks for watching :-)
I agree with you - I could be very comfortable in that home. Love the Tudor style! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching Donelle, glad you enjoyed :-)
The two art deco fireplaces were great. A work of art with function. The double doors are beautiful. I have a lot of clothes but I would still have room left over with those massive built-ins. Great house for hide and seek😊. Always nice to see a video from you. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed Debra! You wait for the neighbour home, even better for hide and seek!!! haha :-)
Hi Urbex Indigo!🙋Love the house so sad being torn down. Hope your well. Have a good day.
Have a Blessed and Safe Weekend...😘🙏🤗
Cheers and same to you too Lipstick and Sofrito :-)
Love the chimney 😊✌️
Was a real beauty hey Oz Vic :-) Thanks for watching
Nice large back yard. I can already tell from the outside that I am going to love the inside. The glass doors to the dining room and living room!!!!! I don't think I've seen a fireplace like that before. The 2 smaller bedrooms don't have closets....
Hi Belle :-) Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed :-)
What a beautiful old house, it had so much character. Great video xxx
Thanks Siona :-) Glad you enjoyed
Great video! Looks like this one grew a bit over time. Another large foyer/hallway. Beautiful woodwork and fireplaces. Didn’t look like there was a way to get to the carport with a car. Lol Thanks for sharing these beauties with us. ❤️
Hi Susan thanks for watching, my pleasure bringing the videos! :-)
Lovely house
Glad you enjoyed Jeni :-)
Those two front fireplaces were lovely. That's a great home. I'm sorry to see it demolished. It could easily be repaired and lived in for years to come. The large back yard is beautiful. I understand the dislike of the box-type apartments they tend to build in the spaces where beautiful homes have been. It's such a waste and an eyesore for the community.
Agreed Doreen, there not much wrong with it at all. Next door home will be up next :-) Thanks for watching :-)
I wish I could save this house, there are so many possibilities! I would love to give the kitchen a makeover, but still leaving it original as much as possible. The floors and woodwork..wow! Not to mention the yard! If only the house could talk..
Wow, what a gorgeous home. Such a shame it is to be demolished. Thanks for the video. Cheers mate.👍😁
My pleasure Brenden! Glad you enjoyed again mate, I will upload the neighbouring home next video :-)
Really love the layout of the place. I don't think I've ever seen a kitchen with aqua-colored tiles before. Looks to be in great shape too...so I don't know why they would want to demo-ed it...
Developers and their big plans always find a way to knock down a perfectly good home! lol :-)
Greed. Money.
Wow, I want this house!
This is truely sad to know some big ugly thing will take it's place. The 2 fireplaces were beautiful, wood working in is so well kept and beauful. Thank you for sharing Paul
Yes just found out more and a monsterous development in the works! Thanks for watching Jo :-)
The art deco fireplaces remind me of the styles in New Mexico in the US, they have like a southwestern flair. I agree with you, I'd take this house anyday. Thanks Paul, hope you can get in next door. 🙋♀️💜🇺🇲
Hi Donette, yes will upload the next door home next :-)
@@urbexindigo5164 awesome, can't wait! 🙋♀️💜🇺🇲
These old homes are nice and kept in good condition. I just don't understand how it can be torn down. It is sad and heartbreaking.
Developers always find a way with money it seems Sally. Thanks for watching :-)
Thanks so much for the info in the written description. That sweet home just 🔹️could not🔹️ have been mid-century, and the disparity between what the details of the home were saying at & the 1955 date was making me crazy. 🤪 It's great of you to go the extra mile & get the additional info. Thanks again! Cheers, good health, & safe exploring to you from Seattle, USA. 👍😷🖐
Hi bKitteh thanks for watching :-) Yes It was making me doubt that date as soon as I saw the Kitchen/front foyar and front rooms! I am trying to include as much info as possible without giving away the location. Some I can do more with once they are knocked down :-) Thanks for watching :-)
szybko minął czas nawet się nie obejrzałam ,a to już był koniec filmu dziękuję za piękne opowiadanie ..Pozdrawiam z Polski ..łapka w górę oczywiście
Great video mate so much charm it has :)
Cheers Mini mad, yep very much so, and it will be replaced with blandness!
@@urbexindigo5164 I know so much of it about these days bloody dog boxes square and sterile looking :(
I loved this one except the kitchen. The floors were cool.
Glad you enjoyed Mari, thanks for watching :-)
Nice home.
Thanks for watching Lea :-)
Awww is a shame is has to go. Is actually a beautiful house. I love the fireplace...thank you for showing.
My pleasure Lynne :-) Glad you enjoyed, thanks for watching :-)
What a shame to see it go. Beautiful old home.
My late brother in living an older home in a neighborhood in a suburb of Chicago that was “up and coming”. When he died, my in-laws sold the home to folks who later said they were going to demolish it and build a new home. The existing homes had no value to the people wanting to move there and it was cheaper to tear down a decent home and build than buy an empty lot there. 😢
Hi Paul ! I had to re-sub, again...ahhh YT. It's 4:35 am in Maryland. Hope you're doing fine.
This world gets crazyer each day.
Me & some other tennents are going to take the apt manager to court soon😁
Once I get my phone straightened out I can share some bazaar ghost pics. Guess when you go to the same spot for 7 yrs the ghosties get to know you.
Most folks would run down the street scared and you & I are like ..."YES!!!" As we're snapping ghost pics away.💖👻🤘
Stay safe Paul.
Hi Ruth thanks for subbing again! Yeah ghost pics would be great, I need to get some paranormal stuff done again soon too! :-)
Another beautiful home. I agree with you as I'd much prefer a home like this than what will replace it 😔 I so love the dark wood and floor boards in this one like the Tudor homes. Polished brick fireplaces and those double doors are really nice. Has a nice Tudor/ bungalow feel to it. Sad, but hope the salvaged things can live on and be loved again!!
Hi Prue, yep it had a real classy feel in my opinion without being over the top. At least all the nice flooring and woodwork will be saved. Thanks for watching :-)
Why demolish that house it was perfect and those cracks on wall could offed easily been fixed ... what a shame
Massive town house complex going up it seems Simon which is a bummer! Thanks for watching :-)
No worries
Ewwww. If course. Townhouses. Ugh. Bet the neighbors are absolutely thrilled. And it'll be in shambles within 30 years.
Wish the demo guys would take the cool old fixtures and stuff to a pawn or something when they do a house like this. Someone will want them (or maybe it's just me....)
The 20's and 30's were the art deco periods in the US and that fireplace screams art deco. That was a beautiful house and I agree with you, I could live with the cracks in one room. The woodwork and detailing in there were amazingly beautiful. Stay safe and have a blessed day.
Hi Marybeth :-) Yes here in Australia Art deco took hold in the 30`s up to the 40`s then came back in the early 50`s after the war. Glad you enjoyed :-)
I don't think I have ever seen a bathroom without a toilet!?
I have filmed many here Misty :-) Thanks for watching
Nice house 😀
Glad you liked Michael :-)
@@urbexindigo5164 😀
there were many features in this house that were the same as in my Californian Bungalow from 1927. Those tiles in the bathroom look classy to me, is the floor tile or something else? In my parent's house in the 80s, we had the same light that was in the kitchen and you could pull it down and back up again.
If you sell to developers can you salvage things for your new home? I really like this house. I love the bathroom tile and the turquoise tile in the kitchen. All that lovely woodwork too. So depressing it will be gone soon.
Why don't they fix this home up instead of demolishing it? this house is gorgeous ...thanks for the tour
Sold for profit to developers to make profit unfortunately Fatiha, thanks for watching :-)
Kitchen cabinets are from the 1980's. Cute house. Shame someone doesn't want to renovate and keep some of the key features.
NICE!! 😎
