I am so happy with this entry. She is really showing her pop-star potential wit this which is nothing less than I am expecting. She is totally gonna slay this live and for me it is great. I think this is the best girly bop this year in the semis at least and with a great performance it could definitely qualify but it won’t do amazingly in the final, maybe 15-23rd because I can’t see it coming last because it has enough of a possible fan base with the juries and televote to do a mid table result. I could definitely see it though having a Fuego moment and bring a super big shock live that it ends up doing much better than predicted. Really love this even though the lyrical depth isn’t there and the hook could be stronger but everything else is perfect for me. And again since she is Australian she will get solid points from us, a la Andrew Lambrou last year, that will get probably 8-12 points from us.
this is the sort of a song that i put on my jogging playlist and drag my friends to the dancefloor for when i'm in an ESC themed party, but will literally never think about outside of those situations. i like it but this year is so stacked that a perfectly nice song like this will just get trampled.
This is one of my favorites. It does what it says on the tin. It’s not reinventing the wheel and it’s catchy! This makes me want to dance and this sounds real good in my car.
I love this song. Was happy with what came out before it but was just waiting for something to grab me and along came Cyprus. Its remained my top song and i think she will be amazing
I expected a standard bop; lo and behold we actually got one! It's solid and I like this thick beat which does make it a bit different. Silia looks very confident. The Netherlands have had experience with krumping in Eurovision; let's say I could do without it. I don't think it's doa, but there are lots of songs that have much more of a soul than this one. I agree that Cyprus is doing well given its size and means, but tbh I wouldn't mind seeing something homegrown with more depth from them once.
Really good analysis on all fronts, Tom. I agree that this is a longshot for qualification, though I can't say that I don't put it on every now and then just for being an okay bop.
@@ESCTom something has to not qualify from semi 1. We need 5 and they all can't come from the second half😂 - which would be insane and borderline suspicious if it did happen.
Finally checking out the full roster of songs. After a couple of years out of that spot, Cyprus back at the top end of my favourites. I expected the response to this to be stronger when I looked around, have a feeling this may be slept on. Should she get out the SF from 1st on, then she's due a prime spot in the final too.
Call me old fashioned, but there is something disturbing about a 16-17 years old girl running around in just a minuscule latex bra singing oolala. I don't know I guess it's just me stuck in the past, but if that was my daughter I would feel really weird. The song itself is of course catered towards her own agegroup who love to vote away their parent's money so it could go through.
I wouldnt mind the age if it was an actually talented singer but shes just a random low tier singer they found in the middle of nowhere in Australia with this being literally the 5th song she ever made. From what I can find online she also never been to Cyprus so her entry also doesnt really have any meaning to her for her home country she was just picked cuz her parents are from there. Yeah cyprus is a small country but is there really no decent singer there to send? This isnt the first time they sent an australian one

I genuinely worry about any young artist entering nowadays. It's so demanding and after seeing how much not qualifying impacted Iru (who is older) last year I think that the delegations need to really keep the wellbeing of their acts in mind and maybe that means not sending teenagers?
yea im really starting to lean that way too. i think id be more ok with it if the come through a NF, but as an internal selection? its so risky and the young artist is the one who is most at risk
There’s nothing wrong with a solid pop song that is easy to listen to. Not all songs have to be disruptive and unusual in that way. Most people will listen to this for years to come, regardless of how it does in the contest.
It's kinda funny (and weird) to finally have this song in Eurovision after it failed to go the contest in 2022 (for Russia) and 2023 (for Greece and their rigged internal selection lol). Unfortunate turn of events for what is overall a pretty mid song that needs immaculate staging and an amazing performance to even do something decent in the contest. Wish the best to Silia, she is talented.
I really hope they put the AQs into the first half of the semi. It would skew the numbers to help alleviate that second half bias and help out these songs that had an unfortunate draw.
This is in my ❤ TOP5, but in future livesessions, this needs to stand out what comes with staging as there are so many brilliant songs within her genre
I don't think it will qualify but let's see I hope she does qualify but it's in the first half with tough other competitors with Ukraine Croatia Serbia and even Lithuania it's gonna be tough I can't see this going through and the song can be forgotten
Maybe this is a harsh take, but I feel like the worst to happen to Cyprus in Eurovision was being the runner-up in 2018. They got that one taste of success, but failed to get the win, and have basically been riding a similar sound almost exclusively ever since. Which, I think in hindsight the top two songs of 2018 are not actually all that as pure songs. The stage show and the performance and the Artistry was what made those songs what they were, great, and yet Cyprus has been chasing that style and sound of song ever since, even with all their middling returns. It's like the Cypriot delegation only wants us to think that they have a pop music scene. Maybe they're just content with being perennial middle third performers, but they are never going to win by just copy and pasting essentially the same formula over and over.
I like this song, but it's hanging about my top 20, around the 15 -18th place. The song is the typical shiny pop record from Cyprus, with a pretty female who can dance to the upbeat song. Its very pleasant and has a nice commanding beat, but it doesn't stray far from the girly bop formula. It's very predictable in so many ways. Personally I feel this year she's got her work cut out as this is really going to overlap with Georgia, Malta and Luxembourg, which I feel will be it's downfall. Speaking of Malta, a friend of mine is the official makeup artist for Sarah Bonnici, through her journey to the ESC and at the finals! She's so excited!
haha oh wow thats awesome, youll have you give me the inside scoop on what she says. I heard that Silia recently did a live performance and it wasnt great, so my current gut is that shes a NQ
@@realStarTom I mean sure if your taste is generic billboard chart music written by people too old to have a career and get convicted for plagiarism. Listening to this as a musician it has no place being played outside a local club with cheap royalties
I was hoping I was getting a stefania from a few years ago and I didnt get it. its good it's what I expect from a teenage girl but in a strong year I worry for this.
It probably won't qualify, unfortunately. BUT! Already a seasoned performer and excellent dancer -- she'll have a career for decades. Another ESC appearance will come
Wait, this song has already been published a long time ago? Is it really allowed to compete in Eurovision? Even if you do a revamp, surely there's enough left of the original that you can recognize it?
no, because it wasnt officially released. it was part of the internal selection for RUS and the greek internal selection in 2023, but never officially released.
I think it's a well produced song, lyrically not too great, and isn't really pushing the envelope at all. It's safe, easy to listen to, and decent enough to be a vehicle for a strong dance/vocal performance.
Tomm. I personally dont think Cyprus is opening, its the best option. But Cyprus has opened its semi in 2019 and the GF in 2024. Isnt that a little harsh or would they not really care. Oh lmao u said that like 3 seconds later
