Hi guys - am really sorry to hear the conditions were so bad. But you obviously made the right call to bale out. Safety is always paramount, Scotland is not going anywhere, and you all survived to hike another day. 👍 Perhaps once you have all got home and recovered for a few days - you can post a short debrief, including original intended route and your gear etc. ATB
Hopefully this doesn't stop you guys from making more videos! It's nice to see this side of the life as well (keeping things interesting). Can't always win.
Oh fellers! I am struggling to take this all in. It is distressing to see you in these circumstances. However, your strength of character shone through, as ever, and you made good decisions at every turn. Can’t beat bad luck! Well done.
Good effort guys. Many an Alpinist thas been thwarted by the ruggedness of Scotland. The Cape Wrath Trail is probably one of the toughest in the whole of Europe. The weather in Scotland can be brutal but if you get real Highland downpours which can last for a week or more it certainly puts a damper (pardon the pun) on things.
Hi guys, No luck with the rain. I did that first 5days to Kinloch Hourn starting April 28th 2019 and didn’t get the soles of my boots wet crossing the rivers, it hadn’t rained for about 6weeks up to that point. It was the same this year, long dry spell from end of March into May and loads of sunshine. If you come back up to try again Spring is usually the best time in the North West for dryish conditions and very little midges.
Sorry you haven’t had such a great walk. A great shame, because the CWT can be fantastic when the it is not tipping it down with rain. Hope you all heal up soon and this has not dampened you spirit for future adventures in the UK too much.😀
Sometimes is just like that. I had rainy weather on my Cambrian Way attempt last year and quit, too. I liked watching your videos although I'm not a fan of CWT and don't understand why someone wants to hike in one go. Done parts of it and bog, midges, lack of supply points keep me far from doing the whole of it. Rain is not the biggest problem - common, it's Britain. There are so many much more enjoyable alternatives and you, having GR experience, know it best. I love Graham's grim "awesome". 😁 Will be looking forward to your next adventure. Take care, Seb PS. Sun in Scotland is possible and I have proof on my channel. ☀️
really like that tarp! and oh completely, 5 days of intense moisture management is a grind. find CWT in foul weather is really good for dialling gear in tho, switched straight to apex & primaloft😂
Dare I say the limitations of ultra light , in Scotland I always carry a 100 proof 61 % alcohol whiskey called" As we get it " If wet , retire to a bothy , drink and curl up to a fire ....
Sorry to hear about the end of the trip. What day/date did you guys have problems just before Shiel Bridge at the river going up to the saddle? Was it the 12th 13th of Sept? I think I nearly bumped into you going the other way, near that awful river crossing!
@@twofoolswalking2109 ah the 13th was when the weather was at its absolute worst. We left Kinloch Hourn on the 12th. Did you meet a man doing the CWT solo called Phil, near that river crossing at the saddle? If you're ever up in the highlands again it'd be great to hike together. You two seem equally mad :)
Good job you were only in Britain and not Alaska otherwise you would have been in a Chris MaCandless type situation with that in spate river crossing! 😉 👍🍺
@@twofoolswalking2109 me and a mate went this year from early to sorta late August despite COVID. Weren't really any brits so most people probably decided to stay at home this year. Honestly its unreal the Dolomites are so awesome and although its pretty challenging at times the via ferrata sections are fun and I recommend staying in refuges. Weather is really good although we had some really hardcore thunderstorms.
As someone who was beaten by the weather in Knoydart multiple times, this was somewhat gratifying to watch. Many thanks.
So sorry for you guys that you had this shitty weather - and sorry for us because we love following your adventures!

Well done guys for getting as far as you did in that weather. You made the right call to end your trip. The mountains will be there for another year 😀

oh wow you guys had it way different then me, the only real river crossing i had to do was at the river carnach. (there was no bridge back then)
shame about the rain, that river was ferocious!

It was 13th when we tried to walk from horn to Shiel bridge. Ahh would have loved to have met you!

did you not have a mosquite net with all the midges?
Yeah we did!! Helped quite alot and weighted very little :)

How come you guys are walking with graham?
Original plan was for him to come with us for 5 days then we would have gone on without him to the cape
Greetings from the Banyuls sur mer, just finished the GR10 in perfect sunshine 😂
Well done! Still have amazing memories of that trail
You guys should 1000% do the alta via 2 in the dolomites it's so much better than UK walks and possibly the most beautiful in the world.
We almost went there this year! But the covid scared us off :(
