I’ve had one for many years and just started using it again. Good job demonstrating it.
I have an older Central Machinery 5 speed drill press purchased new several years ago. It still works just fine. The main difference between mine and newer models is the placement of the on/off switch (mine is on the side). Mine didn't come with a light, however. Other minor differences are with the shape of the handle grips and overall color. For the hobbyist or DIYer it's a good press for the money. One extra feature not mentioned is the degree scale on the bed attachment. Just loosen a bolt under the bed and you can tilt it up to 45 degrees either side for drilling angled holes. There's a zero mark on the rear of the bed to line up with the degree marks.
Thank you. Because of your review I am finally going to get my first drill press. Never had one by the way.
i know im asking randomly but does anyone know a trick to log back into an Instagram account..?
I was dumb forgot the account password. I appreciate any help you can give me
@Jonathan Lawrence Thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm in the hacking process now.
Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Jonathan Lawrence It worked and I actually got access to my account again. Im so happy:D
Thank you so much you saved my ass!
@Mordechai Abdiel No problem :D
This is a great video. I’m a fan of Harbor Freight and have success with the gear I have purchased. This press will be a good add to my mini work space.
Thank you!
is 760 minimum speed a little too much for drilling metal? I heard it's best somewhere below 300 RPM.
@ 8:20....You need some thread cutting oil to aid the bit in drilling .If the bit gets too hot its gonna lose its hardness and be dull and hard to hold an edge when sharpened.
Thank you 😇👍🏻
Thanks for the review
Just bought one today went to get a vise for it but it's not lining up sadly
Great Video very Clear.... Thank you .... Getting One Soon
Perfect. Just the video i needed to see before I picked one up. Byrd knife at the start to cut the box open?
I am shopping for a diamond core drill, I visited Harbor Freight & I saw this drill, hope you can help me, I need a drill to make holes mainly to gemstones which I need to use a basket fill of water & press down the handler of the drill. You think I would be able to use this drill for my work. I thank you so much for your time, but I learned plenty with your great knowledge. Great presentation.
Have you found a small vice that has the and bolt pattern to mount to the table? I bought the smallest ones Harbor Freight had but it didn’t match the table to mount with bolts
gee I almost bought that one... you saved me $22
Um use the drill press to drill the holes in the table? Or get a better table
Thanks for the video! I was looking for something to attach a mixer drill attachment for mixing silicones for moldmaking. This looks absolutely solid for that.
Wonderful.
At the small risk of attracting dirt/dust/ etc., coat the column/ post with some kind of oil to prevent it from rusting. Yes, a vise that matches the table slots would be nice if somebody has found one, from anywhere. Thanks.
Harbor Freight for about $22
@@thetrumpnewsnetwork7503 I was thinking the 4" would be too big. I think need to make a bigger table.
@@kodak_jack 4" is the size recommended for the press
Silicone spray won't attract dust.
Good video. Thanx!
Thank you for this clear review, it is helpful.
Thanks for watching.
Very nice, I work at Harbor Freight in Maine. How does the drill press...still work? I want to buy this one myself!!
They are decent. Almost bought a used one and the owner said they were great and he was familiar with such equipment.
Helpful. Ty
Thank you!
5speed ano ba # ng capacetor nyan boss
Will this work well with hole saw attachment?
Yes it will.
Note: to save your drill bits, on steel use high pressure and the lowest rpm and a little lube would help👍🏻😁, great reviews
Great advice. I usually squirt some oil on when I do a lot of drilling on metal.
You can also use liquid soap instead of oil if you're trying to keep your shop clean.
What’s the travel distance? Can you drill all the way through a 4x4 (3.5”)?
Yes. You can set the depth to do that.
No. I believe this model depth is only 2".
Never owned a drill press so please excuse me if I don’t use the right vocabulary, but what is the travel distance of the chuck? Will it go all the way through a 4x4?
Looks to be around 2 1/8" plus or minus max depth of travel. You could always drill from one side then turn the piece over and drill from the other side.
The travel distance appears to be a lot more than 2” or so!
Use long drill bit, drill 2" deep, raise bit, raise table, reinsert bit, drill rest of way through.
I came here because my adjustable lever for the table snapped off and stripped. Trying to figure out what the deal was. Brand new
isn't it unsafe to wear gloves while using a bench drill press?
Not in the least.
I’d disagree. I’d rather the machine cut me then grab my gloves and pull me in…
@@neilabrassart5824people just say anything nowadays 😂 I had one of those mess my hand up really bad years ago, take it from someone who knows all to well don’t use any gloves or wear anything with hanging strings around spinning equipment like this
Can I finish an 80% lower with this? What about a Glock slide
Did you ever figure it out? Thinking of buying for an 80 lower too
I wouldn't know why you couldn't. I've used mine for aattaching AK gas block and a front sight block. I've had mine for a couple of years now of intermittent use with no issues.
Good job despite not showing how u put the bit in🤦🏼♂️
Sure is loud, these always sound like they’re crushing rocks.
Not loud at all.
