I love the resolution of Soyo's arc. All fandom thought as we were watching the show that we will get some sort of redemption from Soyo since we already know she was going to be part of the band from the opening. However, we got nothing and she just got accepted as she is. In a way is an spectacular plot twist of the story. Soyo got abandon from her Father, Mother and Sakiko. that make her a hyper independent girl who always have to act nice to get love from people. Soyo being accepted unconditionally without redemption showed her that she doesn't needs to do anything to be love. She can be the worst person in world and there's still people who will love her. In that way MyGo is the perfect place for Soyo to growth and heal all her past wounds.
The best episode from any anime for Summer 2023 and one of the best for the whole of 2023. Also on my opinion the Bushiroad's greatest produced episode from any of their anime franchises.
This episode was the first thing that made me truly believe the power of a song. Can't hold back tears every time I watch it. Need to point out some nuances about the translation. In Japanese the pronunciations of "poem" and "song" are the same, "uta". They made correct Japanses and Chinese subtitles in BD but seems English subtitles not. 18:23 Uika's line is correct, "this is like a song". But 23:38 Tomori's line should be "I will sing a poem", and on the notebook the temporary name of this song was "the song of singing a poem". In the next lines Tomori was basically saying that, I don't have music here, all I can do is to write a poem, but I still sing my poem here to my friends. That song's final name is Utakotoba (詩超絆), meaning "poem of ultra bonds" from the characters, or "words of poem/song" from the pronunciation. Great writing.
Personally, I appreciate the (long) discussions that you have at the beginning of the episode, because it makes me, the viewer, realise that you actually (want to) understand the story, and not just breezing through it and recording it just for the views. I think it's also beneficial to you, because it helps you to recall moments from previous episodes, so that you'd understand better when you watch the next episode. Often a lot of people would miss out details simply because they forget about events early on. I also support the idea of pausing and speaking halfway. For me, watching reaction videos isn't purely for the expressions (which let's be honest, a lot of reactors don't even do a good job on that), but also "a reaction of thoughts on the current scenes", so I'm always up for some discussions in the video. Love the moment you realised the title name. I think these are definitely some of the best moments in fictions, when you realise that the title actually makes sense, and it also shows that the creators have thought the story through from the beginning to the end, instead of starting a story without thinking about what's happening afterwards, eventually creating a long series which was practically dragged because the author doesn't know how to develop the story further, which unfortunately does happen to a lot of stories nowadays.
I think the line from Anon where she found out that the tea Soyo served her at home was the same Earl Grey Soyo recommended her in EP2 says a lot about Soyo as a character (also how Anon view things in general). The kindness of Soyo might be indeed a facade she puts up to hide her real self, but by practicing it so often it has already become part of her nature. She could be dishonest and manipulative, but she had also taken care of band members in previous episodes with kind gestures. I don't think she was thinking about her master plan when she did all those things. This is also partially why Soyo could not properly reason when Sakiko asked her "what's that other band", "your words and actions contradict each other". She DID enjoy being with MyGO, she just thought she needed Crythic back.
You can also add the Soyo did play Haruhikage. She could have left at that moment abandoned it the bad mid song. How I interpret it is that her body/heart already knew Crychic was gone and that she needs to move forwards but her mind was still attached that's why all the contradiction.
In episode 7's performance of Hekitenbansou, note how Soyo smiles a lot during the performance. Not once has Soyo said she hates being in MyGO!!!!!. As Mutsumi pointed out, Soyo is lost. She likes her new band but doesn’t realize it and thinks reuniting CRYCHIC is the right thing to do. People keep leaving her, one after another, and she’s never learned how to move on. Similar to Daiba Nana from Revue Starlight.

It’s rare to see such a well-executed portrayal of contradiction, irony, or hypocrisy in anime. In Attack on Titan, the execution felt weaker since the audience only learned Eren’s true feelings at the end. What makes MyGO!!!!! so great is that we see plenty of signs that Soyo enjoys being in MyGO, even though it doesn’t align with what she says she wants. It’s like watching someone get so caught up in their plans that they forget what they were trying to achieve in the first place.
Instead of getting back members one by one in sequential episodes like other similar anime, MyGO makes it in one episode. From the depressing bottom at the end of last episode to this exciting peak, the emotional power in this single episode is as strong as tomori's song.

They recognize all of them have their faults, they are lost and broken, but they will be lost and broken together. Everyone smiled at Soyo as they played and she knew then and there they would accept her for what she was, even if it was a person who is manipulative. Also shoutout to Raana for being MPV three times in an episode and to Uika and Mutusumi for being awesome background support!

coming back to watch this again and I really wanna highlight the 一緒に迷子になろう moment. When the band was revealed their poster and stuff had basically that line on it. That was their catchphrase - 迷子でもいい。迷子でもすすめ！ Before they came out, I thought they were just Bandori’s new thing. It’ll be Morfonica again, a new band that might be fun, have a new best girl, but ultimately just another band to slot in. I knew they were going to drop the line - 一緒に迷子になろう！and I thought it was going to be so cliche. “Let’s be lost together!” What does that even mean? Is Kokoro dragging us on a journey into a jungle to get lost? The moment they did, I was completely ripped apart. They somehow managed to EARN it. With a genuine and depressing story about teenagers struggling with mental issues that leave them confused and desperate just to exist in life. Of course with my ADHD and struggles with that it resonated with me a lot, but I hope anybody can understand it. I genuinely could not believe they earned that line. This anime truly is once in a generation I think.
*Bear withness, the Mygo is formed!* How Anon reach out to pull Soyo up is kinda mimick the scene Kasumi pull Saaya up is the first anime, some community member suspect it's because Anon and Tomori share some traits together from Kasumi during character design(and coincidently, both Soyo and Saaya had a complex about their former band, and you can see even their name seems formed a patern) Two unique things of this band, which you can see if you interest in their live performance: poem reading, and Tomori tend to turn around to face her band member rather than profesionaly facing the audience During the "Chase" scene, while it seems like Soyo trying to shake Anon off, when Anon is amazed by the tall building, Soyo actually stop a little just for Anon to catch up. Maybe she's just too kind to kick Anon off, or maybe she want to give Anon a chance to talk, just like how she wish Saki did, during her own chase
Man...this episode is really emotional to me even this day, i watched when launched and i rewatched 4 times(5 with your reaction) and i cried all the times, easily my favorite episode of BanG Dream, i really love this anime and band.
After Girls Band Cry aired last Spring 2024, I was just itching for another girl band anime to watch And since Sound Euphonium season 3 was airing that time as well I was able to stumble upon It’s MyGo as shows similar to GBC saw there’s like 3 other seasons but decided to watch MyGo first since I wanted something good Came inwith no expectation and knowledge about the BanG Dream universe and this episode absolutely made me FELL IN LOVE EITH THE GIRL BAND ANIME genre I have been listening to MyGo’s albums ever since finishing the show and the song this ep, “Utakotoba” I’ve only heard it like 5 times including the rewatch here. Im sorry its a beautiful song but every listen makes me bawl my eyes out cuz my brain keeps playing the impromptu performance in my head altho I personally cannot listen to it as i’d want to I feel like that’s a testament on how emotionally impactful this show can be Remember to watch AVE MUJICA anime guys it started a couple days ago But i know you already know that

As you know, the rooftop of Haneoka is the base of Afterglow, so if it had been after school, Tomori and Anon might have run into members of Afterglow lol.
Anon and Tomori are definitely angels, but one of the reason why they still accepted soyo when she lied to them and still didn't apologise is that even though Soyo lied, she didn't hurt them directly until she told Taki the truth. In episode 7 before the haruhikage happened, we can see that she was taking care of other members like giving a bottle of water to Tomori who is the vocalist and tiding Rana's hair. She is almost the opposite of lisa, but she did take the mother role for the bang when she was still there. So even though she held the biggest blame for what happened in last episode, she did have contribution to the bang.
Rana’s kind of like the reflection of Tomori‘s mental world. Rana is willing to accompany and support her as she gets brave and determined, but leaves her when she‘s hesitant, like in ep8
One notable characteristic of the script for "BanG Dream! It's MyGO!" is its fore-and-aft correspondence in structure. For instance, in the episode 6, Anon chases Rikki at school, while in episode 10, the roles are reversed with Tomori chasing Anon. In the episode 7 live stage, four people are laughing on the stage while only soyo is upset for saki's leaving and despairing for noting that crychic won't come back anymore 😊😊😊😊😭, while in the tenth episode 10, the situation is flipped with four people crying and only Rana laughing . 😭😭😭😭🤣 In the episode 1, Anon told Tomori not to fear failure, just try again. Then in the episode 5, when Anon wants to escape from the live and urges Tomori to give up, but Tomori remembers Anon's encouraging words from the episode 1 and becomes determined to live. This kind of fore-and-aft correspondence is evident throughout the series, making MyGO highly rewatchable.
oh, one more thing. Just like in Episode 3, Saki regarded the Tomori's diary as lyric to bring Tomori to the warm world(crychic) from her own world, In Episode 10, Uika regarded the Tomori's poem as a song to let Tomori know that even some words that she felt hard to say but she can still use another way to express her feeling.
I think you could also put Soyo's thinking into prespective that for example, a person has always wanted a certain car all their life, they worked hard and waited years to get said car, and then they finally got it. Their happiness was beginning and the good times were starting, but then just as they felt good, the car is stolen and now they are a wreck.
Welcome to the peak that is episode 10! I think wanting Soyo's backstory to have been longer / more fleshed out is totally fair. I hope my wall of text didn't come off as critical, I mostly just wanted to clarify that the show wasn't intending to expand on her character more before the emotional peak that is 10, just in case that would have disappointed you. I want to correct your mistake. You mentioned who the screenwriter of this animation is and then thought that the plot comes from a game, which is actually incorrect. The broadcast of Mygo animation predates the addition of related story to the game, so it is actually an original animation.
The scriptwriter for Bang Dream anime is always the same which is Ayana Yuniko, she's been writing for all Bang Dream anime script from Season 1, the reason why Mygo!!!!! Is so different from her previous work must be because the new Bang Dream Director Nemoto Yuki taking charge, since the previous Bang Dream director Takaki Kidani step down in 2022, in one of the interview Yuniko Ayana State that the script for mygo was too dark and gloomy that she ask advice from the new director but the new director said that's fine and if u can make it more dark please make it, so yeah for Mygo the scriptwriter basically has been given some freedom in term how they want to express the story that's way is more emotional than previous bang dream work.
Talking a little more about Soyo Backstory, it wasn't revealed but in Japan it's hard to the mother to get the child guard because of the old mind of the man being the "provider" and in the anime Soyo is now using her mother surname. We still don't know the reason for the divorce but a lot of japanese fans say the dad probally did smth REALLY bad for Soyo to stay with her mom based on japanese laws
I feel like what drove soyo to this point is that Saki dismissed the band without a single reason but nobody in crychic except for her seemed to care? And that's what made her truly feel left alone and desperate because she used to loved saki and everybody's company, she just wanted to repair their relationships and hoped that other members of the old band feel the same way, which was unfortunately proved not true by muzimi and taki

What Anon felt is understandable cause all this time she didn't know that she was just used by Soyo and no one even cared for her except for Tomori but at least she wasn't being screwed financially or her life being ruined by someone else. Soyo's mistakes are something that can still be forgiven. What I like about Tomori's Seiyuu the Lovely Youmiya Hina is her style of singing it's kinda like spoken poetry in some of their songs like in the verses with a more melodic approach in some sections like in the choruses and as a fellow singer that's the style of singing that I can't do, I mean I can sing songs even in the higher register and in their original key but that kind of singing the spoken poetry is something that I can't do but I do have a great appreciation for it. What Soyo failed to do in reuniting CRYCHIC is where Tomori succeeded in reuniting this current band that will eventually be named MyGO!!!!!. What this episode proves is how powerful music can be and how in an impromptu performance all the emotions can flow freely and differences can be settled. Soyo-chan crying on stage really reminds me of her seiyuu the lovely Kohinata Mika during MyGO!!!!! 4th Live last year April 9 2023 the same event where they finally revealed the identities of the seiyuu/musicians for the real-life MyGO!!!!! almost a year since they were announced in April 2022 and around that time they already put out 3 solo live concerts and already performed as an opening act at some big Bushiroad events like BanG Dream! Special☆LIVE Girls Band Party! 2020→2022, Bushiroad 15th Anniversary and BanG Dream! 11th☆LIVE. and during those times when their identities weren't revealed yet, they usually dimmed the lights and they don't show their faces during live performances it was on their 4th Live when they revealed their identities that's why around that time Mika-chan became so emotional cause for those who don't know back in 2015 during Poppin'Party's earlier years a then 15-year-old Kohinata Mika became a fan of the BanG Dream! Franchise and the bassist for the real-life Poppin'Party the lovely Nishimoto Rimi is the person who inspired Mika-chan to pick and learn how to play the Bass, and the first ever song that she learned to play in the Bass was Poppin'Party's song called Star Beat and Rimi's influence is too obvious in Mika-chan's playing, And a couple of months ago back in April 29 2024 during Poppin'Party×MyGO!!!!! Joint Live「Divide/Unite」finally after 9 years the now 24-year-old Kohinata Mika finally met and performed together with her Bass Hero Poppin'Party's Bassist Nishimoto Rimi and they became closer ever since.
Only need 1 scene of sakiko backstory to make me understand and forgive her, why she out from crychic and dont tell the reason to her friend. But soyo backstory CAN NOT convince me to forgive her (until now, thats why i hope at mygo film, will tell better about soyo) after what is she doing to Anon. Anon is only a tool for her move on failure from crychic.
To be fair everyone is just a tool for Anon to gain some attention, initially at least. But all pretenses were already dropped at this point. Anon is the first person Soyo let in inside her home and Anon is the one who pulled Soyo back up on stage. They just played their hearts out and that's all we really need.

It's MyGO!!!!! with some never before scenes and more in-depth backstories from the characters and the other one is a FILM LIVE version of BanG Dream! It's MyGO!!!!!.

After Girls Band Cry aired last Spring 2024, I was just itching for another girl band anime to watch
And since Sound Euphonium season 3 was airing that time as well I was able to stumble upon It’s MyGo as shows similar to GBC
saw there’s like 3 other seasons but decided to watch MyGo first since I wanted something good
Came inwith no expectation and knowledge about the BanG Dream universe and this episode absolutely made me FELL IN LOVE EITH THE GIRL BAND ANIME genre
I have been listening to MyGo’s albums ever since finishing the show and the song this ep, “Utakotoba” I’ve only heard it like 5 times including the rewatch here. Im sorry its a beautiful song but every listen makes me bawl my eyes out cuz my brain keeps playing the impromptu performance in my head
altho I personally cannot listen to it as i’d want to I feel like that’s a testament on how emotionally impactful this show can be

As you know, the rooftop of Haneoka is the base of Afterglow, so if it had been after school, Tomori and Anon might have run into members of Afterglow lol.
Anon and Tomori are definitely angels, but one of the reason why they still accepted soyo when she lied to them and still didn't apologise is that even though Soyo lied, she didn't hurt them directly until she told Taki the truth. In episode 7 before the haruhikage happened, we can see that she was taking care of other members like giving a bottle of water to Tomori who is the vocalist and tiding Rana's hair. She is almost the opposite of lisa, but she did take the mother role for the bang when she was still there. So even though she held the biggest blame for what happened in last episode, she did have contribution to the bang.
Rana’s kind of like the reflection of Tomori‘s mental world. Rana is willing to accompany and support her as she gets brave and determined, but leaves her when she‘s hesitant, like in ep8
One notable characteristic of the script for "BanG Dream! It's MyGO!" is its fore-and-aft correspondence in structure.
For instance, in the episode 6, Anon chases Rikki at school, while in episode 10, the roles are reversed with Tomori chasing Anon.
In the episode 7 live stage, four people are laughing on the stage while only soyo is upset for saki's leaving and despairing for noting that crychic won't come back anymore 😊😊😊😊😭, while in the tenth episode 10, the situation is flipped with four people crying and only Rana laughing . 😭😭😭😭🤣
In the episode 1, Anon told Tomori not to fear failure, just try again. Then in the episode 5, when Anon wants to escape from the live and urges Tomori to give up, but Tomori remembers Anon's encouraging words from the episode 1 and becomes determined to live. This kind of fore-and-aft correspondence is evident throughout the series, making MyGO highly rewatchable.
oh, one more thing. Just like in Episode 3, Saki regarded the Tomori's diary as lyric to bring Tomori to the warm world(crychic) from her own world, In Episode 10, Uika regarded the Tomori's poem as a song to let Tomori know that even some words that she felt hard to say but she can still use another way to express her feeling.

I think you could also put Soyo's thinking into prespective that for example, a person has always wanted a certain car all their life, they worked hard and waited years to get said car, and then they finally got it. Their happiness was beginning and the good times were starting, but then just as they felt good, the car is stolen and now they are a wreck.

I think wanting Soyo's backstory to have been longer / more fleshed out is totally fair. I hope my wall of text didn't come off as critical, I mostly just wanted to clarify that the show wasn't intending to expand on her character more before the emotional peak that is 10, just in case that would have disappointed you.
Also I wouldn't worry that much about pausing or not, whatever maximizes your enjoyment of the episode is best.
This is the greatest episode of anime of all time you CANNOT change my mind.

I want to correct your mistake. You mentioned who the screenwriter of this animation is and then thought that the plot comes from a game, which is actually incorrect. The broadcast of Mygo animation predates the addition of related story to the game, so it is actually an original animation.
Later today is Mygo's band will come to bandori EN and I recently reinstalled the game, last time I played was 2021 in my college days.

The scriptwriter for Bang Dream anime is always the same which is Ayana Yuniko, she's been writing for all Bang Dream anime script from Season 1, the reason why Mygo!!!!! Is so different from her previous work must be because the new Bang Dream Director Nemoto Yuki taking charge, since the previous Bang Dream director Takaki Kidani step down in 2022, in one of the interview Yuniko Ayana State that the script for mygo was too dark and gloomy that she ask advice from the new director but the new director said that's fine and if u can make it more dark please make it, so yeah for Mygo the scriptwriter basically has been given some freedom in term how they want to express the story that's way is more emotional than previous bang dream work.

Talking a little more about Soyo Backstory, it wasn't revealed but in Japan it's hard to the mother to get the child guard because of the old mind of the man being the "provider" and in the anime Soyo is now using her mother surname. We still don't know the reason for the divorce but a lot of japanese fans say the dad probally did smth REALLY bad for Soyo to stay with her mom based on japanese laws

Back when I first watched this, I didn't expect a gacha game anime to give me prime spoken word emo music but I'm so glad it did.
I feel like what drove soyo to this point is that Saki dismissed the band without a single reason but nobody in crychic except for her seemed to care? And that's what made her truly feel left alone and desperate because she used to loved saki and everybody's company, she just wanted to repair their relationships and hoped that other members of the old band feel the same way, which was unfortunately proved not true by muzimi and taki
I am so interested in learning about Rana's perspective in all of this in the upcoming movie.

What Anon felt is understandable cause all this time she didn't know that she was just used by Soyo and no one even cared for her except for Tomori but at least she wasn't being screwed financially or her life being ruined by someone else. Soyo's mistakes are something that can still be forgiven.
What I like about Tomori's Seiyuu the Lovely Youmiya Hina is her style of singing it's kinda like spoken poetry in some of their songs like in the verses with a more melodic approach in some sections like in the choruses and as a fellow singer that's the style of singing that I can't do, I mean I can sing songs even in the higher register and in their original key but that kind of singing the spoken poetry is something that I can't do but I do have a great appreciation for it.
What Soyo failed to do in reuniting CRYCHIC is where Tomori succeeded in reuniting this current band that will eventually be named MyGO!!!!!.
What this episode proves is how powerful music can be and how in an impromptu performance all the emotions can flow freely and differences can be settled. What a great and emotional episode, welcome back Soyo, and welcome back MyGO!!!!!

Soyo-chan crying on stage really reminds me of her seiyuu the lovely Kohinata Mika during MyGO!!!!! 4th Live last year April 9 2023 the same event where they finally revealed the identities of the seiyuu/musicians for the real-life MyGO!!!!! almost a year since they were announced in April 2022 and around that time they already put out 3 solo live concerts and already performed as an opening act at some big Bushiroad events like BanG Dream! Special☆LIVE Girls Band Party! 2020→2022, Bushiroad 15th Anniversary and BanG Dream! 11th☆LIVE. and during those times when their identities weren't revealed yet, they usually dimmed the lights and they don't show their faces during live performances it was on their 4th Live when they revealed their identities that's why around that time Mika-chan became so emotional cause for those who don't know back in 2015 during Poppin'Party's earlier years a then 15-year-old Kohinata Mika became a fan of the BanG Dream! Franchise and the bassist for the real-life Poppin'Party the lovely Nishimoto Rimi is the person who inspired Mika-chan to pick and learn how to play the Bass, and the first ever song that she learned to play in the Bass was Poppin'Party's song called Star Beat and Rimi's influence is too obvious in Mika-chan's playing, And a couple of months ago back in April 29 2024 during Poppin'Party×MyGO!!!!! Joint Live「Divide/Unite」finally after 9 years the now 24-year-old Kohinata Mika finally met and performed together with her Bass Hero Poppin'Party's Bassist Nishimoto Rimi and they became closer ever since.

But soyo backstory CAN NOT convince me to forgive her (until now, thats why i hope at mygo film, will tell better about soyo) after what is she doing to Anon. Anon is only a tool for her move on failure from crychic.
To be fair everyone is just a tool for Anon to gain some attention, initially at least. But all pretenses were already dropped at this point. Anon is the first person Soyo let in inside her home and Anon is the one who pulled Soyo back up on stage. They just played their hearts out and that's all we really need.
