"Til death do us part", Crooke. Taylor is alive. There is no "Good riddance." There go the insecurities again, boxed up and wrapped as a wedding gift for a marriage that does not exist. @annieo6527 I couldn't agree more. That mistake only got a tiny blurb from Stephanie when Taylor told her about the marriage to Omar. That would have been a better storyline to pursue when she came back. This is too far fetched. Seems to me she would be worried about Ridge's reaction to that as well, especially since Stephanie mentioned it to her. So, yeah she just hides it for 10 years.

Compared to the early 90s when both women looked incredibly stunning, during this period on the show Hunter Tylo outshines KKL in scenes together. It must be the wardrobe and hair.
It's so funny how Ridge only has to show the _slightest_ confidence in Taylor's goodness and Brooke loses her marbles and is right back to being insecure. 😆 The Bill Bell archetypes and character traits were so firmly sketched that sometimes the characters revert to them _despite_ the bad writing.
True! Brooke was being a Good Girl two episodes ago, and now that she's afraid Taylor might still be in the picture, there she is trying to give Princess Laila a goodbye present.😂
Ridge describing Omar as "very charismatic"...🤔 And then continues to tell Omar, "I'm beginning to think that I picked the wrong 🎯, Omar... when maybe I should have set my sights on _you_ instead!"
Lol, everyone keeps talking about this "triangle" being poorly written, it wasn't a triangle. Brad knew who Ridge was going to pick the whole time. He never wrote it like it was a question. Again, I understand a bit because he wasn't sure of Hunter's intentions and if she would stay. He pretty much puts them in separate worlds so its easier to write her out if/when the time comes. Right before Hunter leaves again he throws Tridge fans a bone and has them spend some time together but you can see he's already planning on replacing her spot on the show with Lauren. You see a pretty massive difference in the writing once she returns in 96/97 after signing a longterm contract.
*Anthony controls the story* Again, Anthony proves what a skillful manipulator he is. Knowing that Thorne will expose him to Macy, he _preemptively_ tells Macy everything that Thorne is about to tell her, in order to let her hear Anthony's version of it first. And it appears to be working, because Macy is starting to doubt Thorne's innocence. Ironically, when Macy says that she has never known Thorne to be vio lent, we realize that even after all these years Macy _does not know_ about Thorne shoo ting his brother. So even though Anthony is lying to Macy, the point he is making about Thorne's vio lent side, and the conversation about everyone having a dark side that may come out under certain circumstances, is actually _not entirely false._ (And this premise of "everyone having a dark side" also foreshadows what Macy is about to do with regards to Anthony.)
@@NewYorkNick0607and by over-confidently telling the story he _loses control over it_ - kind of like the Brothers Grimm fairy tale Rumpelstiltskin where the titular character loses his power when the queen overhears him saying his name. (I've said before how this particular storyline is a fairy tale rather than a soap plot and this is one of those fairy tale elements.) Also, this scene is a progression from the last, where Macy had the _implicit_ knowledge that either Thorne or Anthony was guilty, and now it's made _explicit_ when the two men are accusing each other and trying to convince her of the other's guilt.

Love Taylor's confidence with sarcastic Brooke in just two minutes: we can skip the beauty for once 🤭 Taylor voice, moves and looks at Brooke are almost back to normal in just two minutes. That's the way it should be. Brooke being mean and annoying and Taylor being smug and confident.
Brooke is trying to be like a Stephanie with the the snark but she's too dollar tree with it. She's is kinda pegged as the matriarch now in the current show which i don't really watch admittedly but the few instances I do catch it I always muse to myself that she needs Stepahanie to make her character work. Otherwise she's just annoying and smug for no reason. They really had to decimate Taylor's character to make Brooke shine in a good light and even that's dim lol
Yeah. At 3:50 I always wondered what Thorne was doing and why he was grabbing the wheel so awkwardly. 😅 Did he try to make himself smaller and hide? But my right hand kinda started to hurt from just _thinking_ of holding the steering wheel that same way.
This episode seems to revolve around the parallel scenes of Brooke and James acting as Taylor's "prosecutor" and "defense attorney" - in a way foreshadowing the upcoming court drama.
Funny how James seems to be ignoring the Ridge is with Brooke now? He doesn’t even bring that up to Taylor? I realize James was kept in a dungeon during Taylor’s critical time as the Volunteer? 🤷♀️🤔 I mean, do we expect any enlightenment about anything from James, ever? 🥴
Brooke feeling threatened as always about Taylor. Trying to hide her insecurities by showing her meanness and cruelty towards her biggest competition. That's one of the reasons why I've never liked her. And her voice and heavy breathing are so very annoying! Well, she won't be acting that high and mighty for too long...LOL Gladly Ridge's starting too see what a creep Omar really is. I wonder how it will work out between Thorne and Anthony. Can't remember any of this...🙈
Cruelty is the only thing Brooke knows how to do when she wants her way. Then she will cry her one tear and act the victim the moment anyone fights back at her. That's what she does (or has tried to do) with Steph, and she can't stand that Steph never just lay down and let her walk all over her. Taylor was always too nice to Brooke. She needed to "Stephanise" her all day long.
Brooke , you never did anything selflessly, that's why you can't empathise with Taylor..You have betrayed your best friend, your mother and your then husband thus far
@@greggelapparently a good way to deflect from the fact of Brooke's actions, is to involve someone else's actions lol. But the facts remain exactly as you stated in your OG comment
Exactly. I said the same thing the other day. Neither Brooke nor Ridge is capable of doing something unselfish or making a sacrifice for someone they love like Taylor did. Brooke betrayed her own mother and Ridge couldn't even wait one month for Brooke when she was married to Eric.
This show’s storytelling is set up for viewers to root for compassionate “good girl” Taylor. I’m baffled how some find the character of Brooke more empathetic. Especially when we see her so jealous and snarky to Taylor.
I think the show _did_ set up Taylor as the Good Girl (although at the moment she is a bit lost in terms of characterization). But I don't think it's quite as simple as that, because a character's "goodness" is not the only factor determining their "rooting value" - or Sheila would not be as popular as she is. There's also the aspect of _subjectivity_ - that is, to which extent we see a character's inner life, and there I'd say that Brooke (whose point of view is often shown) has an advantage over the more inscrutable Taylor. Then there's the "underdog factor" - the viewers' sympathies tend to gravitate towards the underdog in a storyline. This has fluctuated between Brooke and Taylor and at this point I'd say they're fairly even because neither has a clear advantage. There's the complexity of the writing - how consistent and multi-dimensional the character is. And finally, the talent, appearance, likability and/or technical skill of the actor portraying the character. Then there's the individual viewer - we all rate each of these factors differently in terms of importance, and add our own experiences to our interpretation of the characters. So, obviously, some viewers will prefer Taylor, or Brooke, or both, or neither. And _all of these positions are equally valid._
@@annieo6527 I find that Brooke is supposed to be the more interesting character to watch than Taylor. I’m one of those viewers that in any drama, tend to root for the villain or the controversial ones. I can’t do that with Brooke because of her portrayer. She comes up short in delivering Brooke’s complexity and underdog appeal. I don’t think Brooke is supposed to be as predictable. Kkl portrays her as a one-tone character. Brooke deserved better !
@@annieo6527 Nice to read an objective observation on why viewers root for different characters. Thanks for your subjective analysis. 🤗👍 You’ve pretty much explained the whys and the wherefores very rationally. 😊 It really comes down to liking the way the actor portrays their character and how one can relate to and understand them as a flawed character? Also the dynamics of the actors as they work together in their scenes. IMO 🤔
@@Esi-741 interesting observation! I agree that going by the writing alone (not counting the last year or so when the characterization has been off) Brooke is a more complex character but also the "Bad Girl" compared to Taylor. To me, both actresses have shortcomings in their portrayals that make it difficult for me to relate to them (even though I understand why they were cast), but for me this is more of a problem with Taylor than with Brooke because I feel that I'm _supposed_ to empathize with Taylor but I can't, while with Brooke I can just sit back and enjoy the conflict she creates without having to feel for her. Given how Stephanie the Storyteller (as Nick would say) sees Brooke, it's not impossible that Brooke's character is actually _supposed_ to have a "nails on chalkboard" quality, while when Taylor evokes that reaction in me it's almost certainly _not_ what the writers intended. So, to sum it up, I don't actually _like_ either character, but I _enjoy my dislike_ of Brooke more.

As for Thorne going to Dylan's house rather than to his own family, I have to wonder - would his family actually _support_ him running off to Mexico? Thorne's family would have _his_ well-being in mind, not Macy's, and what Thorne is doing right now is both dangerous and likely to get him in worse legal trouble than he already is. I can't really picture Stephanie lending him her Mercedes and sending him on his way with some of Maria's sandwiches. 😂

Thank you! Now, maybe the so called "neutral" stans will believe it too, that Taylor's character was a terrible rewrite!😂👍
Yeah Lauren’s coming permanently on the show soon till 1999
*Anthony controls the story*
Again, Anthony proves what a skillful manipulator he is.
Well said Annie 👏
Yes and *(SPOILER ALERT)* Anthony's so much in control that it will take _Anthony telling the story_ for Macy to realize what's really going on.
@@NewYorkNick0607and by over-confidently telling the story he _loses control over it_ - kind of like the Brothers Grimm fairy tale Rumpelstiltskin where the titular character loses his power when the queen overhears him saying his name.
(I've said before how this particular storyline is a fairy tale rather than a soap plot and this is one of those fairy tale elements.)
Also, this scene is a progression from the last, where Macy had the _implicit_ knowledge that either Thorne or Anthony was guilty, and now it's made _explicit_ when the two men are accusing each other and trying to convince her of the other's guilt.

This show’s storytelling is set up for viewers to root for compassionate “good girl” Taylor. I’m baffled how some find the character of Brooke more empathetic. Especially when we see her so jealous and snarky to Taylor.
Well, the Brooke fans think it was a "fantastic" scene between snarky Brooke and good girl Taylor.... Says it all 😂🙈
I think the show _did_ set up Taylor as the Good Girl (although at the moment she is a bit lost in terms of characterization).
@@annieo6527
Nice to read an objective observation on why viewers root for different characters. Thanks for your subjective analysis. 🤗👍
You’ve pretty much explained the whys and the wherefores very rationally. 😊
It really comes down to liking the way the actor portrays their character and how one can relate to and understand them as a flawed character?
