Hey Charlie, how do you feel about using the discord to be apart of this series, like have “design contractors”, where people can design the layouts of neighborhoods and districts which you implement
I was told you are THE BEST YT-er that covers this game. If you make even a single mistake during this 169 episode series, I'm shitting in your cereal. Uff.
What I really love about this game is this "realistic" mode. It all actually feels like a realistic simulator. Buildings don't magically appear out of nowhere, you have to buy vehicles for places, you have to supply resources for new buildings. This is something I really missed in Cities Skylines.
I agree. Best, true, city builder. Many others are more like a city architect or city manager, but this game embodies the “builder” part of the genre better than any other
Ye, the planning aspect is really missing from C:S. Just zone residential and plop buildings until citizens don't complain. In W&R every building feels like an investment. But one thing that Cities does way better is pathing and employmen, atleast IMO. In cities the citizens have their workplace that they will go to and smartly use any means of transport (like combination of walk-bus-metro-tram-walk) to get there, meanwhile in W&R they just go to wherever they can fit, one time had industry collapse because my tram stop filled with students even tho the university was right next to it.
@@domisPL_01 I've heard some praise about Tropico series but never really got to play it. Would you share with me which one should I play first? Most often I saw people praise Tropico 4.
The realism in this game is very evocative. I see all those wide dirt roads and just imagine some soviet workers drinking at the side of the road in the middle of the woods while the trucks pass by. You can imagine a new guy crossing the border and baring witness to a bunch of dirt roads, some upturned soil, and a tiny parking lot filled with shiny buses.
Nuclear reactor should go in the middle of the face . Also love how the large custom house goes straight into a lake on the other side of the border lol. Excited for the series!

this is exactly the kind of series i need, i always give up these kind of games because i just cant learn how to do this things correct and its way too much to research individually. but to be able to enjoy these games for me, it need to be this in depth and slow progress too. so this does just that, and thats perfect. tnx for making this i want to play this game like this after learning it
Hey, I'm starting to watch this let's play out of frustration from lack of optimisation from other streamers, and so far I must say THANKS. Your play style is a pleasure to watch, you seem to be very organised, and your republic looks already glorious comrade, even if it's still mostly on plans 😀 Looking forward to getting through all your episodes! My gaming PC went down, and thanks to you I can still "have the impression" to enjoy the maintenance update 🙂
This is such a great game, currently playing the game 1st time with 1.0 but I'm gonna watch your series from the beginning alongside lol. I don't think there's any other game that scratch the same itch as this. Maybe factorio and such has some similar loop, but nothing with a city-builder theme like this. Great let's play too, you just earned another subscriber.
That troll face, lol. Saw it instantly too. Love this game and with about only 30hrs, still feel I have a lot to learn. Doubt I'm going to be able to get through this entire playthrough, but looking forward to seeing different approaches from an obviously well seasoned player!
I just got this game from a friend and its been on my wishlist for a very long time. Im six hours into the game and i could use some pointers (but i love it lol) Im looking forward to watching this whole series!
I'd love to see these devs do city builders in different countries, with the same level of complexity and realism. Cities Skylines and many other city builders leave a lot to be desires and sorta play themselves to an extent. Also tend to have a lot of 'place and forget', single-piece facilities that are just a single building you can't customize things like factories and powerplants and such, it's all very cookie cutter. This game always looked so good to me and I feel like these devs have a lot of potential to revolutionize the city builder genre.
In my last playthrough, I started with carefully planning coal industry, oil industry, construction (gravel) industry, railroads and first city. That took me a whole day of real time (or at least till the end of the day, I don't remember if I started early in the morning or late afternoon). On the second day was the first time I unpaused the game. So yeah. Things do take time in this game. And especially now with deconstruction, you have to carefully preplan everything. I wanted to make sure I have the railroad properly planned, because sqeezing it in between things would've been much harder afterwards (I still had to do a lot of it eventually anyway), but to plan railroads I had to know where the stations will be and where will be free space to get to them, so for that I had to have all the nearby industries planned. Currently on one hand this new update makes me want to start another playthrough, but on the other hand I hope they do a major balance rework or at least some tweaks for the release version, so I'm waiting for then. For example, it doesn't feel right to me how small meat storages make you use truck as storages or how mines and refineries produce so much volume that trains can't keep up taking it somewhere useful.
Good to see this back again, was here for the first season. Rather unfortunate that oil is pretty much the go to start under all circumstances but I suppose I can see why, Hope we'll somehow be able to see more diverse start options at some point.
Okay, I've owned this game since it first came out and MAN do I suck at it. I always install it, get discouraged, uninstall it, ad nauseum. For what has been years. And in one video you showed me so much. I cannot wait to watch more of your series. I might even reinstall the game. Hah. But I am SO bad at this game. And I'm usually good at city builders but this one is next level.

I watched this series a long time ago (i thought). Today i bought the game and was pretty bad at it, as i wanted to only play the realistic mode. I love watching this now once again, this time having played it myself 😊
This was surprisingly entertaining to me! I like the planing and the ideas; gotta apreciate cause I know if it was me building this city, disaster would ensure! If I learn enough w you maybe one day I could build a city just to see how it works. Would like to step out of the realism though; a city with more trains than roads and very long nights... Could I bring up a survival story there?
Really looking forward to watching all these mate. I've only just started with this & my first set of citizens left after nearly freezing to death.....Whoops, Cheers for doing these, its a very complicated game & my first ever city builder.
@@CharliePryor Thanks for the advice. Yes, I'm starting off easy this time with just seasons, buildings only energy, crime & moving Sun enabled. I was been far to optimistic the first few goes but found for me, there's too much to learn to start any harder. I need to get my head around the basics first 🙂
im 3 months behind, but i always look forward to some new Workers and Resources series! i have something to binge want/play to again :) I can't seem to figure out how to upload your custom map to my game, though after downloading from google drive lol.
I used to LOVE that game. I bought it as soon, as it became available in early access. But, I abandoned it after like 3d, or 4th update, that wiped out my save games, on which I spent countless hours... I'll play it again, as soon, as they stop updating it.
Looks very promising. That hill by the large border crossing was pretty well spaced to encourage you to split the road. I'm sure you intended it anyway, but forcing you to make two highways right from the border, one either side of the city will be a big benifit in the long term.
The throughput of the large customs house is insignificantly greater than that of a medium. As you identified only 1 vehicle moves at a time and the devs have stated that this is intended and unlikely to change. (Dev report #59, Sep '22) I would never restart a map to get a large border point. In fact two tiny customs houses has better throughput than one large, so regenerating for multiple posts makes more sense. (The 2 lane post is quite a bit better than the 1 lane, but the difference between 2 and 3 is almost nil, it's bottlenecked on how fast they can cross the apron) Edit: true for road vehicles, not tested for rail. There's actually a mod on the workshop allows multiple vehicles to move at once and I now consider this a required mod as it solves a gameplay difficulty that is otherwise uninteresting to work with. (I do use distribution from customs to storage and then construction pulls from storage, it's still a massive slowdown, I find it doesn't much impact gameplay after citizens arrive, it mostly stalls the setup by starving you of Foreign workers)
Try buying the large track builder, which is a huge increase in build speed, without a large customs house. Can’t do it. Try buying 20 cargo cars from a medium. It’s so much better to have a larger one.
I downloaded this game couple years ago for the memes but found it extremely difficult and therefore gave up, now that i found this series I'm willing to give it another go!
I saw the game on sale on Steam and wanted to see some gameplay videos. I saw you did a series and jumped right in. I love your videos, detail, length, etc... I know you sometimes need to focus on audience size and interest, but I did want you to hear some good feedback on people that actually seek out the depth (for what it's worth).
Finally able to start catching up on this series, Glory to ! Ain't no one does these kind of games like you and I have been anxiously awaiting this series for months
Keep it up Hatman! Much love; you sucked me into this game years ago and keep it coming. Only have 300 hours though in my Republics... never gonna catch up to you!
i love games like this one, but i cant play them, i dont have the will power or the master mind to see the future of my town, so i will enjoy YOU playing this if you could explain most of the things even if i know i wont play this, it would be awesome, cool video! new sub!
another question: Do you think pedestrian walking distance of just 250 meters is okay? Or could it be enhanced to 1 kilometer without braking the game's balance? I think 250m is a tad too short, unrealistic even... I remember my daily commute to work being a 1.8 kilometer walk and it was a breeze, took me 18 minutes, no big deal at all
@@CharliePryor Soo enormous games to get started with and when I had planned everything thing out, my technical parkings were not big enough to have any dump trucks, so I tried to find out what I need to get those dumb trucks, but got to tired.
Hope I inspire you into a fun time! It's the most in-depth city building experience available today!
I love this series
I do too
Found this playlist a year after the first episode, it has 163 episodes already. Jeez luies dude.
And still going every week! ;)
Looking forward to this series.
My favourite game is back yayyyyy🎉
Love from India 🇮🇳
Want a long series on this 😊
Finally able to start catching up on this series, Glory to !
Ain't no one does these kind of games like you and I have been anxiously awaiting this series for months
Hope you enjoy!
Keep it up Hatman! Much love; you sucked me into this game years ago and keep it coming. Only have 300 hours though in my Republics... never gonna catch up to you!
Given how much time I have to play now, with my daughter duties…. You can probably catch me in a month. ;)
i love games like this one, but i cant play them, i dont have the will power or the master mind to see the future of my town, so i will enjoy YOU playing this
if you could explain most of the things even if i know i wont play this, it would be awesome, cool video! new sub!
AYYYYYYYE I'VE BEEN WAITING WEEKS FOR THIS
You’re doing great Charlie the first episode is amazing. Keep it up. I’m in it for the long haul for a glorious soviet republic.
Thanks a ton!
I cant wait for this series
This is the most poorly marketed game oh my god.
love you video mate keep on
I think I just found my daily 2 AM watch for the foreseeable future
12:10 excuse me but how does the Wind influences industry workers?
another question: Do you think pedestrian walking distance of just 250 meters is okay? Or could it be enhanced to 1 kilometer without braking the game's balance? I think 250m is a tad too short, unrealistic even... I remember my daily commute to work being a 1.8 kilometer walk and it was a breeze, took me 18 minutes, no big deal at all
Walking distance maximum in this game is 480m
interesting 👍
So glage i just found this, i remeber watching col failier paly thid about 5 years ago. Its a great game
Interesting game, cannot wait to see how it unfolds
You got my SUB!
ik for a fact im to stupid for these types of games so im glad i can watch somebody who can actually play them
Nobody’s too stupid for them. Just takes time to learn, and this one is very complex. I’ll be happy to show you the game as best as I can. Welcome.
Nice 🎉🎉🎉 it gonna be a long, goodtime 😊😊
Just bought it after watching this video, thanks ;)
Have fun!
@@CharliePryor Soo enormous games to get started with and when I had planned everything thing out, my technical parkings were not big enough to have any dump trucks, so I tried to find out what I need to get those dumb trucks, but got to tired. I will try again tomorrow 😁 Thanks yet again for a brilliant video
well finally someone I can learn the confusing things of this game from .
I'll do my best to help!
nice video,love from China❤
27:00 What in the world is with that music?
If Cities Skylines 2 and Captains of industry had a baby; this is what you would get.
Thank you for another very interesting series workers and resources is an amazing game.
hello mate. I tried to play your map after the official release but when it loads it close the game. Is there anything i can do?
Wooo! I don't have the time for 6 hour steams every day, but I do for shorter edited ones.
whats the population setting at the top of the game setup?
There is something funny to me about dirt roundabouts 😂
Wait where did this map generate? Why is Nato to the North and East and the Soviet bloc to the South and West? How does that work?!
Can someone please explain how i can import your map? I would love to play along.
It's just a save file. Place save file in your saves folder, and then load
Thank god someone uses the metric thank you!!!!
So many new features. This game is too much to wrap my head around for me to play it but I'm gonna enjoy watching it give you a headache lol
The workplace supervisor was very concerned when i told him i called a B-52 to unload at the workplace
Luckily found your channel! I'm in for the long haul my friend
Awesome! Thank you!
