I don't think we're going to see this fabled FF9 Remake anytime soon, because I don't think it's being made. It might have been planned at one point, accounting for the Nvidia leak, but there's been no indication that it's actually in production. Just some vague "leakers" who have consistently been wrong in predicting its reveal.

I think most people are just disappointed in the lack of new first party titles. Ghost 2 is awesome, but then it’s like what is there? Remasters and a Lego game don’t get the juices flowing. The Midnight Walk looked beautiful though

Given that an average AAA game takes 4 to 6 years to be created, we’ll have to wait until 2025-2026 for a new wave. I don’t think it’s sustainable because you’re going to rely on those games making massive amounts of money to break even. There’s no reason they can’t have smaller projects like how Obsidian did with Pentiment. Then again, it doesn’t matter if they keep paying third parties for exclusivity

It's being reported that Lunar Remastered Collection will be a multiplatform release on PS4/5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, and PC. Thank god for that! Lunar is one of my all-time favorite franchises, even above Final Fantasy. The only way this could be better is if it included all versions of both games. The Sega CD originals definitely hold up, while Lunar Legend and Silver Star Harmony are also worth playing for how they change up the experience. I try to go back and replay them all, like, once a year.

Man Fantasian gets everybody worked up about its diorama levels, but it's crickets when it came to Kunitsu-gami doing the same thing a few months ago. I feel like Capcom marketing really dropped the ball by not showing off one or two of its real life sets. Ideally we let a game speak for itself in trailers, but here it just led to people missing out on incredible pieces of art.
I played Kunitsu-gami and still had to look this up after reading your comment. What a shame for them to go to all that work and the end result just looks like regular old graphics. Fantasian is smart because the environment are more clearly handmade and photographed, giving the game a more abstract presentation.
it's a legit genre and it works for players, it could be more popular if only devs would put proper Easy mode difficulty in their Souls-likes why does every 2D action platformer have to be a Metroid-like? it's what works for people

If it exists at all I think it won't appear until after the FF7 remake trilogy is done. One large scale FF remake at a time.
