There used to be an old panel van we dived back in 1973-74. I have a pic of me and my buddy Gary surfacing with the rusty remains of the driver’s seat.

My family's snorkeling gear sunk down there by the dam around 2015. I also lost a beautiful handmade marble on the beach in the same area. It was a clear marble with a small art design inside. When held under the water it was invisible.

Back in the 50s when that dam was built They had to flood a portion of the region that had trees and vegetation. All those trees down there make sense.

I started diving Canyon Lake in 1976. Looks like it hadn’t changed much since then except how they’re draining it. Sorry to see it go.

Are there really towns, ranch homes, and barns down there?

    • @jamesswain100

@@woodyw6891 Yes there were when I was diving in the mid 70’s but I only dove on one. We were more interested in the cracks and cave like opening to see how big the catfish were. I don’t think there’s one lake in the state of Texas that didn’t flood over farms, ranches, cemeteries (those are spooky) and other structures. The only lake that is a natural forming lake that I’m aware of is Lake Caddo on the border with Louisiana and I know of no such structures as it’s pretty shallow.

Have you ever come upon a lure/bait hanging in the water? I'd want to pull it or maybe grab the hook with a pliers & make the fisher think they caught a BIG one! I'd play with them, maybe pop up out of the water yelling "STOP, OW, OW!" Hook an anchor or something to it. I'm weird. Used to have a lakeside home at beautiful Canyon Lake. Your awesome video has pushed me to "take the dive" (ha, ha) & learn SCUBA. Thanks!

The government paid them to move to higher ground but removal of the structures would’ve been too expensive…and pointless. They’re making for excellent shelter for fish and other wildlife that all contribute to the flourishing ecosystem inside the lake.

God loves you so, very much that He sent His Holy Son Jesus from heaven to earth, to be born of a virgin, to grow up and die on a cross for our sins, and to be put into a tomb 3 days and rise from the dead the third day, and He (Jesus) went back up to heaven. We must receive Sinless Jesus sincerely to be God's child(John 1:12).After we get saved by grace through faith in Christ, if we truly love the Lord Jesus Christ, then we will obey Jesus(John 14:15). Mark 1:15 "And saying, the time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: Repent ye, and believe the gospel." Jesus said in John 14:15 "If you love Me, keep My commandments. "There's a real hell. It says in Revelation 21:8 "But for the cowardly, and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone..." Please sincerely receive Holy Jesus and put your true faith and trust in Him today & repent!
