- Well it's the winter here in the Catskills. It's already snowed 5 days now. Time to get this underbody sorted out. I'm using CRC 6026. Best rust prevention going. Here's a link to how to purchase it:

Project Farm Dude rocks! He's doing the Lord's work✊🇺🇸
Yes, Toyota is using the CRC. I recently purchased a Sequoia, and the previous owners kept meticulous records. The dealer did, in fact, treat the frame twice with CRC. And the frame is immaculate! If Toyota is using it, that's good enough for me. Thanks for the video.
They do not use CRC from a company called CRC. They use other Corrosion Resistant Compound. It is noxudol 300/700 no CRC HD Marine.

Fantastic video. After reading the review on Project Farm, I am opting to use CRC 6026 on a new 2022 Tacoma. This video told me everything I needed to know. The Toyota dealer could not believe I would choose this over their $695 undercoating. Thanks -
Nop. It will dry up and crack if paint below it cracks. It is the best tool for painting over rust but not at top of fresh paint. Checked and it didn't worked.
Thanks bud.my 22 finally showed up today..drove from jersey to Delaware to pick it up today..first thing I'm doing is this..especially being its brand new and fairly clean and winter is knocking..great job again
Ahhh perfect timing on the delivery. Spray the hell out of it. Good luck with the truck 👍
@@NickMango thanks Nick..have a great Thanksgiving
Hey I cleaned and sprayed a 1989 Blazer with Waxoyl cavity wax and underbody coating 20 years ago. It’s still rust free. No sign of any rust inside or outside. I also use a salt inhibitor called Salt Gone . I’m switching to other rust proofing products like Woolwax, Fluid Film and several others. Excellent video
Hey Joseph, sounds like you did a great job. Where do you live?
Hey New Jersey 10 miles west of New York.
@@josephpuchel6497question, you’re stacking Salt inhibitors with rust inhibitors or choosing one?
I bought 10 cans !!! I will be going after any nooks and crannies and bought the 24” extension so I can get up inside where there are plugs remove them spray away and put them back on keep spraying !!! it’s more then just a little job but to protect a $70,000 truck it’s worth it p.s. I found that oil is cheaper at Walmart mart 🤣
I lived in Puerto Rico for several years and at every oil change they lifted my vehicle and sprayed it with a steamy soap solution blow dried everything then sprayed a light coating of diesel. I sincerely miss that service.
Detailed, real and funny........thanks
Toyota frames were built by a company called Dana in the USA. Dana skipped the process where they should have cleaned the oil off that was used as part of the frame forming process.
The frames were then painted and because they omitted the cleaning step before painting ,the frames rusted prematurely as the paint failed.
Toyota sued Dana and Dana gave Toyota 25 million to correct the problem of frames rusting.
Currently have 2 replacement frames in tacomas owned by family members.
On my new 2020 Tacoma , at the time I used 12 cans of CPC 6026 right after leaving dealer with new truck. I followed up with 3 gallons of fluid film. I'll continue with a new product called surface shield going forward.
My opinion is that a product that "creeps" is needed to get to the places you can't reach....and apply yearly or so. 6026 is Cosmoline which is great, but doesn't move enough.
East coast of Canada here.
Loved your video, great personality
Just found your channel! Excellent. Thanks for the video 👍👍
Fantastic
Crc 6026 it is, your videos are proving very useful. Applying to my 2021 ram 2500 tradesman, 8.4 screen, snow chief, chrome pak, silver, cloth interior with all weather mats, trailer pkg. Just like yours! Now to get used to these crazy mirrors that make lane changes legit scary hah
🎉🎉 I wish I knew how to solve this mirror issue. I’m trying so hard haha. If you figure it out let me know 🙏
I got 3.73 rear not the work animal 4.10 tho
CRC 6026, Marine heavy duty corrosion inhibitor, and sp-400 are all the same product. 6026 and Marine HD are more viscous/tacky when "dry" compared to sp-400 though. PB Blaster Surface Shield is just as good (my personal fav). Can sucks, but is thicker than 6026 and Marine HD. Does attract a little more stuff though. "Dries" harder. LP3 and WD40 Specialist corrosion inhibitor are also good alternatives. All named have equal water and salt protection.
I live in Ohio and I haven’t done this to
My Brand new truck but definitely should. I had it for a year and the snow out here sucks well the salt they spray on the road.
It really kills the vehicles. Thanks for the review bud definitely will use this
Power wash the hell out of it before you coat it. Make sure all the salt is off. GL 👍
Agree same here i live in cincy so i am doing this today
Hi my name is Nick, and winter sucks lmao!!!
Haha
I will uses this for Lexus truck, hope it will protect
very good tips on what to spray on!
Super insightful video, looks much more resilient than the lanolin sprays. I just wish less of it blew away instead of sticking to the surface.
It’s really cheap. $40-$50 bucks is nothing. You might lose some but it is what it is 👍.
@@NickMango That's true and it seems much easier to apply than POR15, etc. One confusing thing, I've seen several posts saying it can't be applied over paint? Truck frames are painted, mine has a little rust... do the instructions say anything about applying over paint, versus only on bare metal or rust? I can't find any insight on their website re application instructions. Thanks!
@@Really10801 they mean body paint. You can spray it over everything under the truck no prob.
@@NickMango OK thank you, I bought a can to try it out and I like it a lot. I sprayed it inside the frame and could actually see it drifting out of the holes all the way on the other side like 6 feet away. I imagine it is coating the inside of the frame as it drifts along the length. A spray straw would definitely help, but it does not seem like a showstopper at all.
I ordered another six cans and I will let my mechanic finish the job because he can put it up on the lift and be much more thorough.
Thanks very much for your insights, your video really helped me narrow down quite a wide array of products to find what I believe is the right one.
Will this stuff look good on Chrome? Does it dry relatively clear? Trying to protect a chrome bumper from rusting , any ideas on a good inhibitor?
Thanks!
Greeting from south korea. I have a question. How many crc can did you use for truck?
I believe it took 5. Thanks
@NickMango thanks for answer sir.
I got lazy and had my Ram Krowned so I didn’t have to crawl around underneath. (Oil based rust proofing). It was like $160 and they get inside all body panels.
I never heard of this Krowned term. Can you link me to a company? Thanks a lot 👍
How about a link Hoss
It's a Canadian company @@NickMango
W!
Thanks man
Hi Nick love the channel. I am waiting on a 2022 to arrive and I am wondering if you think the CRC Would be good to spray and coat the backside of the aluminum alloy rims to protect them from road salt? I thought about waxing them but I figured CRC might stay on better. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated thanks.
I think it would work great. No reason not to do it. Probably only take a single can.
Have you tried cosmoline RP -342 ? I have used it on my wrangler Rubicon and my Ram 2500 and it lasts and protects. Like no other . Give it a try you might like it.
Never tried it but I’ll look into it. Thanks
On the “Repair Geek” channel he does a VERY extensive video on various types of rust inhibitors. He compared side by side the CRC, RP 342, and Amsoil HDMP which are all cosmoline type. All three were excellent!!
It seems like it’s basically old school cosmoline.
Repair geek said so about cosmoline
"It creeps until it's dry. Once it dries that's it. So if cosmoline does not fully penetrate pinchwelds or bedsides before it dries you're screwed. Any additional products just build up on top of the layer that is dry.. Products that stay wet will continue to creep and self heal 6 months or even years later, cosmoline won't."
So it will probably simple fall of at top of paint. Please let us know in 1 year.
The wet stuff like fluid film will wash off unless it's in a protected area. Therefore reapply yearly
Great info man, definitely helps us alot 👌
How long the film will last until it need a respray?? 12 months? More or less?
12+ as long as you don’t power wash it like crazy. I did mine right before this winter, so probably summer 2023 I’ll get under there and do it again.
Just do yours every 12 months or so, after every winter, depending where you live. It will not cost you much money and time. I just got brand new trd pro and bought two cans of crc, that's all I could get for now but I will get more.
Great video, So can this stuff be sprayed on painted frames without eating through the paint and did you spray it on like rubber bushings/any rubber pieces under the truck? Thanks
I sprayed it on everything. I would look at the back of the can but I assume any type of paint is good too.
@@NickMango Thanks!
Not sure how long does the can last in terms of expiration date?
Hey man.. if that coating got splash from water rain or wash car, should we re-coating with that corrosion inhibitor??
Nahhhh you’re good
Is there a straw attachment available, like Cavity wax?
Any idea if this is bad for bushings?
Can apply while the surface is wet?
Nick! quick question, its starting to get really cold and im trying to get this applied ASAP as it got delivered yesterday (a week late), if there's going to be a light rainfall in the next few hours do you think im ok to apply outside and about an hour after it start raining? will it affect the curing process?
Drive slow you’ll be good. Don’t go flying through puddles. GL 👍
Eastwood sell the nozzle hose for this cans so that way I spray the cavities with that CRC
Thank you Pedro!
Coat the inside of the frame ( somehow)!!. These box frames rot from the inside, out.
I need to convince a couple mice to go in there with tiny cans of crc.
@@NickMango Does CRC flow well in say an extension spray nozzle to get inside the frame?
@@jimmpsi It flow well with extension but is useless for inside of frame as it dry and crack if paint below crack.
Any update on this? Just wondering how it’s holding up and how it’s performing.
Well I don’t have any rust. But it’s also a 2021. I’ll probably do a summer evaluation and see how much is left on the frame.
How long would you say it takes to cure? I'm gonna have to go to a family member's garage an hour away to get it done and hoping the drive back doesn't impact it.
So technically it takes like 8 hours to finish curing. I don’t think it’s a big deal if you want till it’s tacky to start driving. I wouldn’t drive when it’s wet. So wait a couple hours and check the last spot you sprayed. GL 👍
@@NickMango Great, thanks Nick! Best video I've found yet regarding actual application of CRC!
Toyota isn't the only one having problems with the frames.
Things not to spray are belts, brakes, and exhaust
This is ineffective if it is sprayed on already rusted metal. It won't form a barrier and prevent further rust. After a winter the rusted area is dry with no evidence of a waxy coating. It works on clean metal and painted metal.
Do u spray the muffler too?
I sprayed everything, but I assume the exhaust will burn it off. Just easier to not avoid it.
@@NickMango thanks man, will do this weekend
It only takes 2 cans to do a vehicle and you do NOT need a trigger wuss attachment.
I bought 72 bottle believing it would not be enough.
Will it bind to rust? if you already have rust i mean
You need to spray rust with rust converter first.
6 cans? I used 12 doing my Silverado
I've seen people bed liner the underside before. Seems like it would be a great option.
I think if you’re just highway driving that might work for a bit, but where I go it’ll be a mess real quick. The rocks will kick up and will destroy it. That’s what’s great about crc. It cures to a tacky coating. Not like a hard coating that can chip off.
