This video reviews real efficiency and costs to heat a home with Heap Pumps (ductless mini split systems) and using Solar PV to generate power to pay for electricity year round.
Here the actual numbers:
Total electricity used for a 7 months heating season (October to April), and tracked using Emporia Power Monitor (amzn.to/3ts1Px0):
► Total power: 8939 kWh
► Average cost of $0.37/kWh in MA - $3307.43
► Cost assuming US average cost of electricity would be $1421.30
Because I have a 15.4 KW solar PV system, all electric costs are offset by my power production. Using NET METERING, I have enough "credit" to run my heating most of the winter *.
Heat Pumps used in this video are all XLTH (hyper heating / cold climate) ductless systems rated down to -15°F outdoor temperature operating range:
► Fujitsu 9RLS3YH - 9000/22000 BTU (cooling / heating) - 33 SEER / 14 HSPF
► Fujitsu AGU9RLF / AOU9RLFFH - 9000/18800 BTU (cooling / heating) - 26 SEER / 12.4 HSPF (floor mounted)
► Fujitsu 09LZBH1 - 9000/22000 BTU (cooling / heating) - 33.1 SEER / 14 HSPF
► Fujitsu AOU36RLXFZH - 36000/40000+ (cooling / heating) - 20.5 SEER2 / 9.5 HSPF2
Last unit is a 2-4 zone, and is used as a 3 zone system with 18K, 12K and 9K indoor units.
All systems have larger indoor/outdoor heat exchangers for higher heating capacity and base pan heaters to melt ice in the condenser unit. To see detailed specs for these units, see Fujitsu catalog: www.fujitsugeneral.com/us/sup... - Навчання та стиль
Just installed my mini split before Northeast winter, good information to know
What type of mini splits and what state are you in?
@@RemodelCalculator I got the TOSOT 18,000 BTU. New Jersey
I've not heard of TOSOS... will look it up. Does it do cold climate heating?
Is it a 1 or 2 zone? How much did you pay?
@@RemodelCalculator it heats at -13F, it rarely gets that cold in NJ. I have it to cool my first floor which is about 800sq ft. Priced about 1200 on Amazon
