I just discovered Fabriano Soft pressed. It’s a happy medium between hot and cold pressed.

Hi Rachel. Jim from Madrid, Spain (a fellow artist and a New Yorker expat living abroad).
    Great video!.
I'm a nature and wildlife artist and I must say that you've nailed the differences between CP & HP 100% Cotton Paper (independently of the Brand, because it may also differ).
I use CP when painting more loosely as well as wildlife in nature... but I use HP when drawing animal close ups, for example, for a more detailed and realistic approach.
So... I absolutely agree with You!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise, and I have become a subscriber to your channel.
    Cheers from Sunny Spain!
    😁👍😎✌

Thank you so much for your thoughts! I did a horseback riding tour through Southern Spain once and it was such a magical place.

Great tutorial! As a beginner it’s going to take me awhile to be more confident with my brush strokes but you are such an inspiration!

I find that if I use green painter’s tape from 3M, it never tears my paper and removes very easily. I’ve tried cheaper dollar store brands, but 3M works like a charm.

Always fantastic Rachel!!! I love hot press for details and less glazing. :) Don't use it very often though. Maybe I should bring it out again soon. Thanks for the inspiration.

Very nice and will try to use hot watercolour paint again. Could you write down the name and brand name of the red you used for the inner ears please? I could not catch the name. Thanks.

So hot press would be good for wet in wet very loose stuff? And your cat (the live one) is cute.

I paint only on HP papers. I can't paint on CP.

i learned watercolour on hot press first which might be why I am having such a problem with watercolour on cold press *shrug (will keep trying tho)
