  • 1- The motor light appears
If the car's computer detects a problem with the crank sensor signal, it will activate the motor light on the car's dashboard to alert you of the problem.
The motor light can appear due to a variety of other problems, so a check must be performed using an OBD2 reader in search of a fault code. The fault codes P0335, P0339, P0385, P0389 may appear to indicate that there is a problem with the crank sensor.
2- Vibrations and jerking in the engine
Because once the crank sensor is damaged, it is not possible to determine the location or speed of the crankshaft, and the lack of appropriate timing for the spark disrupts the motor synchronization of the pistons, which causes the engine to vibrate severely.
In addition, you may hear some strange sounds while the engine is running. While this may be due to several different reasons, the crank sensor is one of them.
If the sensor is not working properly, it cannot monitor the position or speed of the crankshaft and will therefore operate without continuous calibration and control by the electronic control unit.
As a result, it may start to operate outside the control range, and this is the point that leads to vibrations and warping
    3- Loss of engine acceleration
Based on the rotation of the sensitive crankshaft, the car's computer informs you of the amount of fuel you need. Furthermore, it can inform the electronic control unit of the best time to ignite the fuel-air mixture in your car's combustion chamber.
If the crank sensor fails, it will provide inaccurate or incomplete signals to the electronic control unit, and this leads to incorrect spark timing and fuel quantity. The matter may get worse when engine speeds increase, or in other words, you will notice a loss in performance and a weakness in the car’s torque.
    4- Increased gasoline consumption
One advantage of a properly functioning crank sensor is improved fuel efficiency because it tells the control unit how much fuel to inject into the combustion process.
However, if the sensor fails, it will not be able to provide accurate signals to the engine, which leads to an imbalance in the amount of fuel that should be used and when to ignite correctly.
    5- Difficulty starting the engine
You may have some problems starting your car engine because the car computer that runs everything in your car is not sure how much fuel to inject into the combustion chamber or when to ignite it.
Furthermore other data measured by the control unit cannot be analyzed regularly because the crank sensor data is either incorrect or does not provide any information at all.
    6- The engine stopped suddenly
Because the crank sensor is exactly like this, it works like the nervous system in the human body... and if it stops suddenly, all parts of the body will stop with it.
