Believe it or not, I was cranking their tunes (as well as the other rock legends from that era) in my car on my under the dash 8-track player! 🤣🤣 Can you guys believe you’d be enjoying music that was 50+ years old that still kicks a$$ today?
You got me by two years but I had the same experience. The only difference is midway through it most of us got rid of the 8-track for the new technology, cassettes in our cars. LOL. I remember distinctly my dad giving me his 68 Barracuda hatchback he painted metallic brown for some odd reason. That musical turnaround in the verse sections is just WOW. Gives it that down home feelin'. This song is a pure jam track and the recording sounds almost live.
This song is definitely one of their sleeper hits - In 1970, they released LZ III and Atlantic, their record company, wanted them to release the Immigrant Song as a single, LZ didn't like putting out singles and didn't want to use any other songs from LZ III, to use on the single, so they hastily wrote this song as the B-side to the Immigrant Song.

One of my favorite Led Zep songs Lots of their songs have mandolin. Battle of Evermore has mando all the way through. John Paul Jones is a musical genius who can play practically anything.
Only the Mighty Zeppelin could make a track as good as this as a B-side and never release it originally on an album. A throw-away for Zeppelin would be another band's best song.
What I love about the 60/70's sounds is that artists were able to be creative and do what they wanted with their music. A song like this wouldn't make it today because the industry wants contrived, formulaic music simply that sells, but the world misses out on the artists talent and ability and you see this in Zeppelin and many artists/bands from this era. It was great because the talent was there but the limitless sounds they could make with their music. They took liberties, invented new sounds, integrated genre's of music to create ART. Great song!
Led Zeppelin was so diverse....love how they incorporated the blues into much of their music. I wish Robert Plant would have stuck to more of his roots in recent years....
I recommended this song to you guys a couple months ago when you did Fool in the Rain. So happy you guys took my advice! I'm gonna recommend another awesome track that I know you guys will love. It's by the Beatles and it's called "Honey Pie". the track is located on the Beatles "White Album". Again, I know you'll love it! Peace

This single broke the system. Led Zep's manager told the record label no more Led Zep singles. If fans want their music, they must buy the albums. Brilliant move.
Led Zeppelin is awesome. I love their blues based style of rock. So thanks for this. Speaking of the blues, when are we getting back to Jonny Lang? It's been months since the Lie to Me reaction video. I believe you loved it and wanted to hear more. So how about it? I would suggest Hit the Ground Runnin' off the first album, which is what Lie to Me is on. Or how about Wander This World or Still Rainin' off his second album?
One of my all time favorite Led Zeppelin songs, even though it is so different than their usual fare. Great reaction - I knew you two would love this one!
Back then, We/I had Led Zeppelin on Albums and a Quality Sound System And I liked my Headphones. Turn up the volume and close your eyes and it was like being there with the band.
Thanks Jay and Amber. Glad you liked it. One of my favorite Zeppelin songs along with Since I've Been Loving You, Tea For One, I'm Gonna Crawl and Boogie With Stu. There are so many more. I highly recommend Led Zep's "Bring It On Home". It's a straight up banger, old school blues vibe but at Zeppelin velocity. Plant's harmonica and bluesy voice in the intro are to die for. Actually the whole song is straight up 🔥 🤘😎🤘 Great reaction, Rob Squad! 🤩
Fantastic song. Found it on an imported single as the B side in the late 70s and played it several times on Campus Radio Hatfield (Hatfield Poly in England). Still have the single!
Glad you FINALLY got around to this, I've recommended it a couple of times. Another number that I STRONGLY recommend and have several times before is "Oh Darling" by The Beatles, Paul's vocals on that will blow you away (Amber might faint).
What a GREAT discussion of this excellent song and the band behind it! You guys are ON POINT! Robert's vocals at the end here remind me of the "Dueling Roberts" we hear in the outro for "Ramble On." For more mandolin, "Battle of Evermore." Enjoy!
One of my all time fav Zep songs, also to play and sing it myself. It's a light song for this band but so much fun and it shows how diverse they always were. It was recored in 1970 when the band tried to get away from their blues roots and dive more into folk and accoustic driven music that led to the sound on their third album.
@@juliemanarin4127 Not necesarily up to that point where they primarly played heavy/acid driven blues. The "lightest" was the ballad Thank You and it was also quite powerful. "...but then he can't help it..." I love that, and despite listening to Zeppelin for over 4 decades, I'd never thought of it that way before, but it's a perfect assessment! Amber's so intuitive! 🤘
It's hard to imagine why Page would leave this song off of Zep III, and not dump 'Hat's off to Roy Harper' instead. Even when Physical Graffiti came out with many previously recorded but unreleased songs - he didn't put it on there either! It didn't even make CODA!
Plant shared vocals with Sandy Denny on Battl of Evermore. Robert must have heard something incredibly special in her voice to share the vocals. Hear her in the band Fairport Convention, LP Leig and Leif, "Tam Lin"" and "Matty Groves" stand strong.
Again, one of the great "Classic Rock Bands" of all time. First time I heard this song was just after realizing a girl I like very much just didn't have the same interests as myself. This is easily my favorite Led Zeppelin song. I saw them in concert July 21, 1973. at Providence Civic Center. I had turned 15 two months prior. John Bonham played solo for about 10 or 15 mins during intermission. It was 2nd loudest concert I had ever been to at that time. The loudest was Jimi Hendrix at Rhode Island Auditorium, May 17, 1969, I just turned 11. How we got the tickets is a long story. My friend got them. We were late. We arrived just as Jimi Hendrix came on stage. It was dark and it was first time we smelled weed. A lot of the old white guys were giving us a hard time but not the African Americans. It was incredibly loud. After two songs we left. We were scared. The Rhode Islan Auditorium was such an old brick build we could hear Jimi just fine outside the building across the street at my friends house. Steely Dan - Peg, Babylon Sisters, Black Cow, Home at Last, Pretzel Logic, Aja.
John Paul Jones was their secret weapon. Not only Bass but pretty much any other instrument and he had a lot to do with Production as well. Thats him on Mandolin.
Sometimes things happen for a reason. And Led Zeppelin is one of those things. It was 4 music geniuses who joined forces to create the best band of all times. And people don't realize that these chaps are from England but they are inspired by old school American blues.
Here's a Led Zeppelin song almost no one ever reacts to: Traveling Riverside Blues. It wasn't even released until 1990. By far, my favorite Led Zeppelin song. I think you'd enjoy it 😉
The bassist, John Paul Jones, played Mandolin, along with keyboards. He is an extremely talented multi-instrumentalist.
He is an orchestra
And Robs forgot to acknowledge him, after acknowledging the other 3.
JPJ played Mandolin on Going to California. I love hearing that beautiful sound played so brilliantly. That is an insufficiently appreciated song
JPJ was easily the most underrated member of Led Zeppelin! His bass work on "The Lemon Song" is absolutely insane!
He also did most of the arrangements. He was their secret weapon, nice to see him getting some attention.

Jimmy actually played mandolin on that one!
That's John Paul Jones on mandolin! Same as on "Goin To California"! Often overlooked, he is a fabulous musician!
“Boogie With Stu” y’all need to react to that one.
JPJ was not as charismatic as Jimmy Page and Robert Plant, but Led Zeppelin fans appreciate his talent.

A lot of the old
white guys were giving us a hard time but not the African Americans.
Awesome one of my top most favorite songs from led zeppelin.
John Paul Jones was their secret weapon. Not only Bass but pretty much any other instrument and he had a lot to do with Production as well. Thats him on Mandolin.
You guys have to do Ricky Nelson.....so many songs to choose from from the original Teenage Idol.
This was the B side to "The Immigrant Song", and became a radio hit later in the 70's.
"you dont want to miss a single note from this band." Truer words have never been spoken lol.
Sometimes things happen for a reason. And Led Zeppelin is one of those things. It was 4 music geniuses who joined forces to create the best band of all times.
And people don't realize that these chaps are from England but they are inspired by old school American blues.
Love you guys, Your reactions are always so real and spontaneous. Keep up the good work.
First time I actually got a copy of this song was on the Led Zeppelin Box Set for Christmas back in 1990....
If you want Mandolin on a Led Zeppelin song and you need to listen to The Battle of Evermore. Incredible !!!
great job from the both of you
Very good choice
Led Zeppelin - Bron-Y-Aur Stomp (Live at Earls Court 1975) is such a great tune
Here's a Led Zeppelin song almost no one ever reacts to: Traveling Riverside Blues. It wasn't even released until 1990. By far, my favorite Led Zeppelin song. I think you'd enjoy it 😉
Great way to end a hard week! Kinda reminds me of The Dead!👍
